Here is how the individual can help the environment. Stop using any internal combustion vehicles, electricity, mass produced food or goods. So, start doing those things yourselves (I’m talking to you environmental activists). Real change can only come from leaders who actually lead by example. But, we all know you aren’t going to do that are you?

Even if you had someone instate your energy and environmental policies, they would immediately be voted out because of sky rocketing energy prices and the killing of entire industries.

How about you go vegan instead of relying on government??

    • Posted by Andross Pirobos, at Reply

+Amber Rose +Paul Swanee I invite you to read the story of elmhurst, a dairy farm that went vegan. If enough people boycott this very polluting industry, the market will adapt to offer more vegan products! http://www.elmhurst1925.com/ https://www.bevnet.com/news/2017/elmhurst-goes-non-dairy-new-milked-nuts-line

    • Posted by Paul Swanee, at Reply

+Amber Rose Are you serious? They are people, who have to make a living to put food on their tables. We cant all just be kumbaya f@cking fairies in a utopian society where money and value doesn’t exist.

    • Posted by Paul Swanee, at Reply

+Andross Pirobos What you say is true, however I have tried almond milk and there is a very significant difference in taste. Convincing consumers to boycott a product that tastes very different is very difficult to do. Look at how many times in history we have tried to ban products that people like, we even went so far as to make an amendment for one and it didn’t last very long…

    • Posted by Andross Pirobos, at Reply

+Paul Swanee “boycott” is not the same thing as banning: you’re simply not supporting the product, just like how horses became irrelevant after the car became affordable. also, almond milk is not the only vegan milk, there are several you can choose from.

Ummm small family farms do not make much income and they claim they do what they do for the love of their animals. But you can make a sustainable living in other ways.

People has to get it out of their heads that there’ll ever be three major political parties in the US system. The system is set up to only have two parties. As long as you don’t change your way how you elect, at least, the president, there’ll never be three parties in the general public eye.

You can’t be an environmentalist and eat meat.

    • Posted by mmike10720, at Reply

Amber Rose if you run a green farm you can. not to mention the level of methane produced by humans eating meat is similar too( though admittedly greater) the amount of meat and waste produced by carnivorus dinosaurs in the Jurassic period. So how about we stip pretending the issue of eating meat is one that stems from climate change when we can easily maintain our diets if we force corporations to run green farm facilities that recycle and control the amount of waste they produce. It’s a moral issue that you’re trying to conflate into a climate change one to picky back on the momentum that movement has. you can eat and control what you eat and the way it’s prepared responsibly. you cannot do the same with fossil fuels

    • Posted by Paul Swanee, at Reply

Ah yes the classic vegan argument. Ok lets suppose there was an international mandate that livestock was forbidden. How exactly are people from impoverished nations supposed to survive? They are already in poverty and starving and now you’ve taken away more food and their means for agricultural production, so what exactly are they supposed to do to survive?

This is even more important when you realize that impoverished nation livestock actually produces significantly more methane per animal, because their diets are poorer and lack nutrients than compared to western nations. A lack of nutrients requires the animals to eat more, which produces more manure and more methane.

    • Posted by Amber Rose, at Reply

+mmike10720 You are obviously unaware of the massive amounts of water and grain that has to be grown in order to feed those animals, and how much deforestation has to occur in order to make room for them to roam. And in the end they’re horribly killed. You simply cannot call yourself an environmentalist if you are going to continue to eat meat and contribute to the number one cause of global warming.

    • Posted by Amber Rose, at Reply

Paul Swanee Read my last post. All the grain and water that goes to feed livestock can actually feed human beings.

    • Posted by Paul Swanee, at Reply

+Amber Rose Youre still thinking about America. I’m talking about places like Mali, where they don’t have giant processing plants for agricultural feed. Their grass that comes from the ground does not have as many nutrients as processed feed in the USA.
