whole dnc plotted against Bernie. they controled the debates schedule, they controlled the moderators, the controlled the media, reducing his exposure time on air. trump won because media gave billions of dollad’s of free air time. even an empty podium with trump headline got more airtime than bernie.

    • Posted by Meaty Clackers, at Reply

+Misael Cifuentes yeah millions of dollars of pure negative media and we still won thats what i call too strong

+Misael Cifuentes establishment republicans were against trump the same as bernie so they both had the same problems and trump won and bernie lost

Meaty Clackers eh, negative ads but still they gave him air time enough for him to counter those negative ads. barely any airtime was given to Bernie to counter attack thosr negative ads. totally unbalanced.

Newspaper outlets are naturally opposed to that because they also have a lot of minimum wage workers which shouldnt see a raise.

Minimum wage jobs are for students, retirees, and stay at home parents. Those jobs were never intended to support a family. If you are an adult and can only get a minimum wage job, might I suggest the military. That is what I did at 18 and I got experience that helped in the civilian world.

Do you know how inflation works lol?  If we raised the minimum wage from $7 to $15, inflation would skyrocket, but not forward. After a while inflation will slow down but the end product would be that everything is more expensive, including the cost of living, to the point where getting $15 is the same then as getting $7 now. Ofc inflation will not keep going up forever also the minimum wage in Australia is $16 an hour

by 2024, hmmm, something tells me $15 will be pretty terrible by that time.

    • Posted by RandomTopic Teen, at Reply

Prime Technophilia let me just give you the numbers.
Well, our current inflation rate is around 1.08%, so let’s say that it stays that way until 2024. $15 today would be $16.17.
A healthy economy should have an inflation rate no greater than 3%. Lets say the inflation rate is a 3% until 2024. $15 today would be $18.45. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just laying out the numbers.

Yes but what about the cost of living going up dramatically? Food/Power/Rent/House etc… I mean often those things aren’t even factored in.

  9. Posted by Spence, at Reply

Raising the minimum wage would have a powerful stimulative effect on the economy. Billionaires do not have thousands of cars or microwaves, if you simply raise the minimum wage it would be respent on essential goods thereby stimulating the real economy.

    • Posted by Optimus Fine, at Reply

TzadSauce 100% incorrect. Savings does not do anything for the economy except to create financial pools for investment. Yes its needed, but its a small drop in the bucket compared to the working class’ buying power. Best thing for the economy is a strong working and middle class. If they have buying power, then they buy goods (hopefully made in the US), more goods means consumption, and consumption means a thriving economy.

    • Posted by Franta Lopata, at Reply

They will fire half of employees and buy robots instead. And all of those unemployed people will become dependant on welfare which is exactly what democrats want. That will lead to even bigger taxes, more government spending and more dependency.
You live in fantasy world, leftist politicians know exactly how to get dependent voting base and they dont care about anything else. I would also vote for them if i got paycheck in return ……

    • Posted by Spence, at Reply

Don’t lecture me on economics, I’m a finance and economics major. Agreeing with your self about arguments that are completely irrelevant to the context of the discussion is proof that you could not challenge what I had said. Consumption accounts for 2/3 of the economy. Also again if everyone is saving and investing and no one is consuming then the economy would collapse.

    • Posted by Optimus Fine, at Reply

Franta Lopata You do know eventually we will live in a world of 98% automation and the only jobs available will basically be engineering. Humans wont have the need to work. So tell me, how will the economy work if virtually all jobs become obsolete?

The Fins are already toying with the idea of a base income of $600 EU a month for EVERYONE. They are preparing for a reality in which humans will be unable to work due to mass automation.

So basicslly my point is that we will all be living on welfare at some point in tje near future, perhaps the next 100years. Better get people used to the idea

    • Posted by Optimus Fine, at Reply

Franta Lopata And PS, we have a $11 min wage where I live, the economy didnt crash and burn. Actually, its never been better since people actually have MONEY TO SPEND. And trust me, massive corporations have the money to pay their employees. Maybe that CEO can skip his 50M bonus for a year

  10. Posted by That Fig, at Reply

The point of minimum wage is to give people enough money to live off of. But the thing is everybody is in a different financial situation. We dont need a minimum wage, we need people to fill out papers so people can calculate how much money they need to live off of that way everybody has a mininum wage that properly suits their needs. It helps businesses save the most money and helps people more than setting a minimum wage.

tell me that i am not the only one to think of this?

    • Posted by S.A.R Rose, at Reply

That Fig SORRY!😕 I Think you may be the only one that thought this way! But now it’s out for everyone to see, and to think about! Because the way people is paid, all over America, this isn’t sustainable for all future.
So if I understood your theory. People that’s exe , couple of newlyweds, needs higher salary a old couple, so they can buy a house and a car, and money for their kids? The older you get, the less you should be paid?
Is this how your theory goes ?

    • Posted by Phone Number, at Reply

In the 1960’s people were paid about 1$ an hour, which is equivalent to 10$ an hour now. But the cost of living since the 1960’s to today has risen over 900%, but the wage has not changed. So we are getting paid the same but the cost of living has increased by over 900%. I have no debt and make minimum wage, I spend about 90% to 95% of my income just on living. So calculating the increase since the 1960’s to today, the minimum wage should be at LEAST 15-20 an hour, and thats a VERY conservative number, technically it should be around 30 but that will never happen with these greedy fucks.

More money less hours for people

    • Posted by TheUltimateBeing01, at Reply

True, they need to introduce a “minimum hours” regulation too. Because companies like Wal Mart would only pay for part time hours if a wage increase were mandated by the federal government. Wal Mart does that now, only paying for 30 hours. Sometimes less.
