Bernie Sanders has actually proposed a new expense to safeguard Americans from big pharma price-gouging. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us just what you think in the comment area below.

" Opening up a new front in the war against huge pharma, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and a variety of Democratic associates introduced a costs Tuesday to allow commercial importation of medicines from Canada.

The charm is noticeable; via low-cost imported medications, the United States would have the ability to make the most of the government levers as well as law that nations have actually made use of to reduce pharmaceutical rates. It's a much more politically tasty way to assault the trouble of soaring medicine prices compared to opening a much more controversial contest whether the U.S. government should meddle straight in pricing– and it has actually had vast popularand bipartisan support, including from Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the governmental campaign." *.

GageStellar…That’s because Obama cut NASA fundings for 2017.

    • Posted by GageStellar, at Reply

gsts I know, by not that much though. NASA’s budget hasn’t changed much in the last few years. Like it’s increased by roughly 4 billion since 2015. But my point is that trumps budget strips funding from education, health and human services, and the environmental protection agency to name a few. which to me is condemnable for any president to do. But while all these departments are losing funding, the military is increased roughly 60billion.

No offense at all to you personally, but your country does not have the #1 economy. The measure you’re looking for is income per capita, not total wealth. Case in point, that wealth is in the hands of few billionaires. In part thanks to, obviously, the military as you mentioned, which has been an arm of the corporate sector since the early 60s, overthrowing governments (often democratic socialist) whenever they threatened the interest of US corporations. I would hardly count military spending as an indication of development, but feel free to do so.

Despite having a couple top universities (measured by number of publications), these are heavily outweighed by the number of terrible universities, or the opportunity for a citizen to go to one at all. The same goes for cutting edge medical services. On health care, the US is ranked #37 according to the World Health Organization, behind Costa Rica and Dominica. A citizen of Zimbabwe might as well say their country is number 1 when it comes to having a beautiful palace (which is true). Ironically, that’s an indication of corruption more than development.

The realization “we’re not number 1 at anything” would greatly benefit your country (even if it wasn’t true), because the idea that you are has turned the population complacent and unambitious. Thanks to Trump, you will now start lagging further behind when it comes to producing renewable energy, which is the future.

I can’t wait to see what excuses the greedy use to stop this bill from becoming law. Maybe something like “millions of job will be lost (more like millions of dollars in my pocket will be lost). Or “America doesn’t want this leftist communist bill they want a bipartisan bill” (we are going to keep screwing you as long as we possibly can).

    • Posted by Kevin Montrond, at Reply

Lol jobs wont be lost. The free market will just get bigger.

    • Posted by Jaime Fernandez, at Reply

not even that, this not make it a free market,it will keep it as a monopoly but with cheaper prices.

    • Posted by The Piper Report, at Reply

Didn’t Ted Cruz say something similar during his debate with Bernie? That he wanted to allow US citizens to bypass the Big Pharma monopoly and buy their medicine wherever they could which would lower prices? Pretty sure he did.

Given the senate’s history on voting for legislation similar to this and also taking into consideration a republican controlled senate it’s highly unlikely this would pass unfortunately.

They will have to lower prices because the free market just got bigger. They have to compete with cheaper Canadian drugs. *You cant refute this unless you dont believe in the free market you Cuckservative*.

This is why the peasants will always LOSE. Because even when they agree with each other, they’ve been brainwashed to mindlessly fight the “other team”!!
_At his first news conference as president-elect on Wednesday, Donald Trump accused the pharmaceutical industry of “getting away with murder” and said that he would change the way the country bids on drugs to bring prices and spending down._

_“Pharma has a lot of lobbies, a lot of lobbyists and a lot of power. And there’s very little bidding on drugs,” Trump said during the event at Trump Tower in New York. “We’re the largest buyer of drugs in the world, and yet we don’t bid properly.”_

Bernie Sanders needs to start playing dirty just like his colleagues have been doing to him. He should threaten to primary every single one of them on the floor of the senate that deny this and future bills that are supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans because his organization Our Revolution is officially working alongside Justice Democrats, brand new Congress, National Nurses United, and tons of other grass roots organizations. BERNIE, You have the power and backing to do this, DO IT!

    • Posted by Jaime Fernandez, at Reply

i think what he is doing its perfect,he is going all over the country talking to people getting his name and ideas out,and at the same time helping to get more people like him elected,so if he runs in 2020 and the DNC runs cory booker or some other corporate whores against him,he will crush them.

    • Posted by Trevor Scott, at Reply

Aaron Pennell I’d argue that the main reason he has so many people on his side is that he doesn’t play dirty

Actually we should go one step further. Anything, software, medicine, etc. developed with government funds, should be placed in the public domain just like government produced media. That way the Pubic Trust is preserved by having companies can compete in the delivery.
