" The video of Education and learning Assistant Betsy DeVos verifying that she would certainly enable independent schools to receive government dollars while they blatantly discriminate against gay, lesbian, bisexual and also transgender trainees is merely stunning. Congresswoman Katherine M. Clark, a Democrat from Massachusetts, asked DeVos factor space in a hearing the other day if she would permit federal funds to head to a school that outlaws LGBT pupils or trainees with gay or lesbian parents, and also she utilized the Lighthouse Christian Academy in Indiana as an example.

DeVos, in an eerily calm manner, stated that it would certainly depend on the states to make the decision to allow "parents to make choices" when it comes to placing their kids in a hostile anti-LGBTQ setting, where lies and also distortions that bring about harassing and physical violence are taught to children about queer people, while receiving government loan in the form of vouchers." *.

There hasn’t been a single appointment by Trump without controversy. I watched several hearings, and all I have to say is I think so far I sided with Al Franken on each.

    • Posted by seeamerica1, at Reply

Al Franken is one Senator who definitely fights for the people. And yes all the people who Trump chose in his cabinet couldn’t be further away from helping the people or the environment. They were put there intentionally to destroy whatever they can. Republicans have been trying to disable government policies for at least 50 years now by trying to privatizing everything, that way they can get their hands on our tax dollars.

    • Posted by Adrian Chirila, at Reply

They’re just victims of private property above general wellbeing. Private property is relative like everything else in the world. You can only be materially rich if others around you are poor. The same thing applies to power. πŸ™‚ If everyone had 1 million dollars – one million dollars would have no value whatsoever, right? If the richest man in the world had just 100 dollars, then the value of the dollar would be much higher, no? So, what I’m trying to say is that she’s just part of this game of material relativity. She can only be rich if the rest of the world is poor. This is what politics is in terms of power. Politicians have more power because the average people have less.

republicans have only this 10 golden rules to govern:

    1. destroy health care for the needy as a soft form of population control.
    2. get rid of education to keep the people dumb, desperate and religious.
    3. keep the wages low to create a slave labour army.
    4. destroy federal housing so larger group of people stick together in ghettos.
    5. militarize law enforcement to have a security force on your own soil against uprisings.
    6. pump money into the cia, fbi, nsa, etc. to create an american style gestapo.
    7. create an aggressive army to invade foreign countries if you run out of resources.
    8. create scape goats and boogey mans so the desperate have something to hate and fear.
    9. threaten your neighbors and blame your former allies.
    10. do whatever it takes to stay in power as long you can.

the american empire is on his last legs … and you have voted for it … MAGA … make america gone already

    • Posted by Akhet, at Reply

3: keep the wages low to create a slave labor army, and drive more youth into the military, and law enforcement.

mako zero I agree. I’ve been saying that the Trump administration is trying to turn America into a 2-class dictatorship: the elite & the peasantry! Peasants have NO voice, NO power, NO money, & only rudimentary education.

I’ll never understand how poor people can be conservative. How can a poor person, or even a lower middle class person, think to themselves, “We need to keep things this way. We need to conserve this.”?

    • Posted by Robert Newberg, at Reply

TurdFurgeson571 I would argue the poor that vote Republican are uneducated and don’t understand how the system works.

    • Posted by TurdFurgeson571, at Reply

    • Posted by razgaros, at Reply

Those things you mention don’t poison minds the way religious books do.
Also that’s one reason people can be so ignorant and barbaric.

The really bad thing is Betsy Devos refuses to say she will protect Black kids and ensure they will have the right to goto school. Instead she says it’s up to the parents. She is a terrible person who claims she is Christian.

    • Posted by J.D. Elliott, at Reply

+Remy Leblu Your sexual orientation, if you are gay, is not the same as my race, which I am BLACK!

    • Posted by Remy Leblu, at Reply

I guess you didn’t listen. The question was “If the state declared it ok to discriminate against blacks is there any situation which you would step in?” I couldn’t say yes…. Instead she referred to OCF… and remember she said previously that she wants to limit the OCF’s power over schools. Not sure your definition but my definition says that’s discrimination against BLACK kids. What really confuses me is you tuning on your fellow black man.

    • Posted by Tomas Arkansas, at Reply

      1) Kids with disability are not protected under her plan.
      2) Low-income students will also be greatly affected by her plan to limit the free and reduced lunch programs which have been shown to increase students scores on test.

Do you think it’s ok to allow a school that gets government money to prevent students with disabilities from attending? She said a parents with disabled kids should just move.

    • Posted by J.D. Elliott, at Reply

Unlike you, I don’t have to edit my original reply, which you said “And I’m tired of you claiming your black when you’re not.” And my race has had equal access to education ever since brown v. board of education, to which sexual orientation is not the same as race! Which is why again, I get so tired of you trying to use my race to mask your thoughts on sexual orientation!

    • Posted by Tomas Arkansas, at Reply

J.D. Elliott Your such an idiot, I never edited my post. And the fact that you can’t care about protecting kids with disabilities is just evil.

  15. Posted by CS Lew, at Reply
