The tornado's winds were ranked at 80 mph around lunchtime on Thursday– but they could get to 115 mph in the next 36 hrs, forecasters state, revealing that the middle Texas coast is presently under a cyclone caution.

Harvey "heightened promptly" Thursday early morning and also might bring a tornado rise of 6 to 10 feet over ground level; rainfall of 12 to 20 inches could bring floods, with some locations getting as long as 30 inches of water from Friday right into following week, the National Weather condition Solution firm stated in a consultatory Thursday morning." *.

I know… everyone’s freaking out about Harvey right now and it’s like… did you not *see* Rita? Did you not *see* the destruction that stupid hurricane brought? I was without power and running water for like a month and a half @_@. I had a couple of friends who completely lost their home. I think that Harvey may bring some flooding issues, but it’s not going to be that bad…

Also, for all the people who are criticizing the guy who wants to stay home… have you guys ever even gone through a hurricane? If not, you have no idea what you’re talking about. If it’s bad enough, people leave, but if you’re in a fairly elevated area without many trees around, you’ll be okay. This is not the first hurricane that has hit Texas by any means… for some reason it’s being conflated into this huge disaster by news outlets. I don’t know why. Texas isn’t like New Orleans… we don’t have levies that keep high waters out. Please stop acting like you know what you’re talking about…

    • Posted by Black Spectre, at Reply

      hope you’re alright buddy

    • Posted by g fox, at Reply

+bloodraighna You got hit that hard by Rita? Jeez… I guess it hit a bit worse to the east of H-town than directly at it, I’ll presume you’re over that way, more towards Louisiana. Anywho, from Katrina to Rita to Ike, the gulf coast’s days of constant hurricane threat had seemed to abate for a few years now. Sadly, seems to be coming to an end (as it always does).

South Texas is a liberal area. I was able to come out of the closet at 14 years old in 2007 because they aren’t hateful bigots. Imagine that? Way back in the day gays were already accepted there. These people are wishing for the most open minded area of Texas (outside of Austin, but same demographics as San Antonio) to be killed.

    • Posted by rose novel, at Reply

    • Posted by bloodraighna, at Reply

Thank you, Kalexandrian1010. It’s like these commenters actually believe that we still ride around on horses as our primary mode of transportation. We have areas of Texas that are bigoted, but (just like any other state… I know, it’s hard to believe….) we have areas that are more progressive and liberal. Don’t you just love blanket generalizations?

Have you ever lived in Texas? I used to live in San Francisco for 12 years and just recently moved to Texas. The quality of life here is much higher and people are unbelievably respectful and welcoming. The roads here are magnitudes better than in California, yet my taxes are far lower here than back in SF. Also it’s *Texans,* not *Texens.* I hope you find the time to get out of the house and experience what the real world is like, instead of basing your dogmas on the nonsense you see on the internet.

does Cenk think everyone in Texas is a dumbfuck conservative. jesus last hurricane was ike and it killed alot of people, but why does tyt have to make everything into a political issue.

    • Posted by Flash Back, at Reply

Because he is one of the sore losers who thought Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide. He was FOS then and he is still FOS.

    • Posted by bloodraighna, at Reply

Rita was even *worse* in my area. Ike just messed up a lot of Galveston, but the people who live there evacuate for the most part. No one in the areas that are going to get hit are even *that* worried since it’s only a category 3. We’ve been through much more destructive hurricanes. I cannot believe they’re spinning this into a political story right now.

Cenk is trying to politicize a hurricane. I’m calling him out on that.

    • Posted by D Mc, at Reply

Poor snowflake. Did you call out all the anti-gay Christian preachers when they politicized various natural disasters? You’re a hypocrite.

    • Posted by bloodraighna, at Reply

Jesus, this is one of the rare times that I’ve actually agreed with a comment like OP’s. Texas has gone through so many hurricanes in the past that were much worse (like Rita and Ike). Not everyone in the area is a fundamentalist Christian Conservative. This hurricane is only a category 3. The people who actually live in the area aren’t too worried about it. Why is this a political issue? Why?

    • Posted by Charles Eye, at Reply

D Mc I did. So did a lot of people. Folks like you just prefer to take the most extreme example of any group and pretend that they speak for everyone. Your narrative sucks. Try again.

    • Posted by Neme, at Reply

Lol it’s not like we are happy about climate change. We are just warning about it. That’s like saying “oh, stop politicizing crime, always pushing your agenda saying we should go after the criminals just because they comitted crime!”

    • Posted by bloodraighna, at Reply

Robot Chase – I know, right? it’s hurricane season. Why is everyone publicizing this hurricane like it’s Katrina or something? I don’t remember this kind of publicity when Rita hit.

  16. Posted by Amy Price, at Reply

I’m usually a fan, but I found this to be pretty insensitive. This isn’t political. These are human lives (and livelihoods) we are talking about. Certainly it’s ridiculous to wish retribution on gay people from hurricanes. Just as sad to wish it on anybody because they have a certain viewpoint on or are part of global warming. Natural disasters happen with or without climate change. Blaming people for a single destructive event is not helpful as opposed to working toward a solution to the overall trend. This was all pretty childish.

    • Posted by Ed Walker, at Reply

Cenk isn’t wishing retribution on Republicans, he’s pointing out how right-wingers claim these things are caused by gays and suchlike, and pointing out that if that’s true, why is the hurricane heading toward Texas? He’s not saying, “Yay, republicans will get hurt”. In fact, he specifically said he hopes everyone is safe. Stop being such a snowflake

    • Posted by L C, at Reply

Ed, how many right-wingers do you know that say that kind of stuff? I mean that actually say that kind of stuff not ones you heard on the internet or on TV. How is them losing their jobs not going to hurt them? Just because you don’t die doesn’t mean you aren’t hurt.

    • Posted by D Mc, at Reply

Tell it to fundamentalist preachers who blame gays and sexually active women for natural disasters.

    • Posted by Gary Turbo, at Reply

Amy Price As a minority who lives in a red state, they could give two shits about me. Hell, they could give two shits about my livelihood (even thought it can help everybody in the state) So why o should care if a Trump supporter (even Athiests who voted for him) live or die?
