Americans don’t want menial jobs. Everyone in America wants to be rich. Hence our paradoxical relationship with immigrants. Right wingers hate immigrants, but are unwilling to pay more to Americans.

    • Posted by Lucy Yin, at Reply

Javier Padilla I think that is what many Americans want, my brother is poor since he only makes $800 a month which he puts $250 towards rent, he lives in a rent based off of income apartment. He puts $70 towards his phone/internet bill, invest $30 every month in Macy’s and $30 every month in Wendy’s via Stockpile, adds $60 to savings every month, and the $360 left goes towards credit card payment, food, etc. He has saved up $720 so far and only has one secured $500 credit card with OpenSky which he uses just a little of but pays off every month, he does well even though he poor. He uses internet to watch shows and films, so no Netflix or Hulu which saves him money. Always uses bikes and buses to get around, no car to worry about which further saves him money. He has Amazon Prime which has few benefits and Entertainment Book which has coupons, he poor but does well.

    • Posted by Jennifer Loftus, at Reply

No one is saying kill them all and hang them from the light poles yet. There’s still some time to balance things out a bit before people snap. If you’ve always been wealthy then you might not understand just how much the tippy top has taken from the bottom. It’s natural for people to feel sad and angry when they’ve seen what large faceless corporations can do to them. If you’re wealthy, you’re less likely to be a victim, so that’s why you don’t understand. Or, you do understand, and you don’t care. Now, there is a reason they’re the 1%. They’re a small group. There are lots more of the 99%. See the first sentence I wrote.
