Maybe the demon just spread to the cultish behavior pervading our politics, religion, entertainment, places of work. Maybe there are people who know how to stir the pot with this cult demon.

I don’t understand the death penalty. A life for a life? Ok. A life for 2, 3, 5+ lives? That’s not equal anymore. I’m not saying all these people should ‘just rot in jail,’ but simply killing them clearly doesn’t always match the crime. I’d rather these people endure all of the hells of aging minus the pro’s (being part of soceity), and die slowly knowing what they did. I also feel like these people could be of use to the psychology community (not to say that they currently are).

    • Posted by Pluto 2027, at Reply

Marco D Cases without the death penalty cost $740,000, while cases where the death penalty is sought cost $1.26 million. The annual average taxpayer cost in the states was $31,286 per inmate. He was in jail for 46 years. 46×31,286=1439156 Without death penalty it’s $740,000+1439156=$2179159 for a life sentence and the death pentaly would be 1260000+31286=$1291286.

    • Posted by Pluto 2027, at Reply

So the death penalty is cheaper and you’re not wasting tax payer money.

    • Posted by Executive 1, at Reply

and if you would not drag it out and do it immediately after them being guilty it goes down probably to a few thousand dollars

Wrong, I disagree with Cenk on this one. As sad as it is, people remember Manson cause he massacred celebrities and their families. The other mass shooters killed (lack of a better word and I am sorry RIP) nobodies. People aren’t going to remember those killed in those murders. While people remember Manso they also remember Tate. Not to mention Manson agenda and propoganda. He was basically a cult leader.

    • Posted by Justin M, at Reply

I’m a little too young but from memory….Manson actually didn’t kill anyone.

    • Posted by indominus rex, at Reply

Justin M he did, even if he told his own people to go kill other people, that’s still murder

Every penalty is worse than death, because death is not a penalty.
The bad guys that are killed don’t go to hell or whatever “ultimate” punishment, they just die. Their consciousness stop and nothing more can be done to them.
They don’t suffer, they don’t feel lonely, they can’t think about what they’ve done and be sorry about it. They just die.

For the revenge driven penal system of the U.S., this fact alone should be enough to stop all executions.

    • Posted by BluePrint, at Reply

I’ve yet to experience death personally, but the fact that no one that did ever reported back, makes the argument that consciousness continues after the biology it depends on stopped working, quite ridiculous.

    • Posted by Senad Elezovic, at Reply

BluePrint It doesn’t at all because there is no evidence conciousness is caused by biology. I see no reason why conciousness existing after death should mean that dead people are capable of contacting us.

    • Posted by BluePrint, at Reply

No evidence… Except all credible research result ever, you mean.
While we’re yet to create the first conscious Artificial Intelligence, what we can say for sure there is no evidence for, is consciousness separate from biology.
This is why I see no reason to expect consciousness to continue once its biology fails.

    • Posted by Senad Elezovic, at Reply

BluePrint name one credible reasearch that provides evidence that conciousness is caused by biology.

      Short people got no reason
      Short people got no reason
      Short people got no reason
      To live

      They got little hands
      And little eyes
      And they walk around
      Tellin’ great big lies
      They got little noses
      And tiny little teeth
      They wear platform shoes
      On their nasty little feet

Well, I don’t want no short people
      Don’t want no short people
      Don’t want no short people
      Round here

Short people are just the same
      As you and I
      (A fool such as I)
      All men are brothers
      Until the day they die
      (It’s a wonderful world)

      Short people got nobody
      Short people got nobody
      Short people got nobody
      To love

      They got little baby legs
      And they stand so low
You got to pick ’em up
      Just to say hello
      They got little cars
      That got beep, beep, beep
      They got little voices
      Goin’ peep, peep, peep
      They got grubby little fingers
      And dirty little minds
They’re gonna get you every time
Well, I don’t want no short people
      Don’t want no short people
      Don’t want no short people
      ‘Round here

Most younger viewer/commenters who run their mouths weren’t even BORN when Manson committed these horrific acts. I am 70; I watched this ranting hell-spawn on the evening news. I saw poor police work, accusations leveled at innocent family members, sensationalistic press coverage, a wild eyed psychopath and a mindless, giggling ‘harem’: young women who would also wind up in jail for life. Led by some misguided manifesto, they snuffed people – butchering Ms.Tate/the LoBiancos and the rest, as though they were nothing. Also…don’t forget that Manson’s followers didn’t fire weapons from a safe, uninvolved distance. They used knives, blunt force trauma, in your face terror, and strangulation to do their deeds. REAL up close, get it? Tormenting and then, watching their victims die. A special kind of evil. So, don’t even try to compare him with anyone today. It’s inaccurate, and just plain stupid. Suggestion: If you actually ARE that clueless, please…don’t make it public!

    • Posted by Just Me, at Reply

Cynthia Hawkins – Absolutely. And cutting a viable baby from the womb and murdering it! Writing on the walls with the victims blood, etc. It was horrific.

The reason why Charles Manson is most famous is that he and his “family” killed wealthy people. When poor people are killed, nothing is remembered a few days later.
