Cruel DEA Makes Life-Saving CBD A Schedule One Drug

The DEA recently made non-psychoactive CBD a schedule 1 drug. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"United States’ Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on Wednesday set new cannabis extract laws by amending the Schedule I Controlled Substances Act to include tighter regulations for marijuana extracts, including cannabidiol (CBD).
In the new drug code titled “Establishment of a New Drug Code for Marihuana Extract,” the DEA says it is “creating a separate code number for marihuana extract with the following definition: ‘Meaning an extract containing one or more cannabinoids that has been derived from any plant of the genus Cannabis, other than the separated resin (whether crude or purified) obtained from the plant.’ Extracts of marihuana will continue to be treated as Schedule I controlled substances.”
This means CBD and all other extracts derived from the cannabis plant (psychoactive or not) will come under Schedule 1 drugs, like heroin, LSD, marijuana, and ecstasy, and cannot cross state lines. Any person currently licensed to produce and handle marijuana extracts is required to apply for a modification of their registration by Jan. 13, 2017, the new document says.

“For practical purposes, all extracts that contain CBD will also contain at least small amounts of other cannabinoids. However, if it were possible to produce from the cannabis plant an extract that contained only CBD and no other cannabinoids, such an extract would fall within the new drug code,” the DEA said."*

Going to take a wild guess and say this drug was hurting the profits of big
Pharma so they made it illegal.

    • Posted by kingbane2, at Reply

pretty much. it replaces a shitload of painkillers and it’s non addictive.
that REALLY cuts into pharma profits.

    • Posted by roxanneworld11, at Reply

are you *kidding??* because no, it wasn’t hurting their multi-billion
dollar profit margin: they’re just greedy and mean and sociopathic and they
want to be able to make every *seemingly possible* dollar that they can re:
health and medicines….and I’ve been very disappointed in CNN lately – but
if you can find it, you should check out the documentary re: marijuana and
how it has helped many with certain ‘incurable’ illnesses. it’s with Dr.
Sanjay Gupta. he said what he learned (once he actually *researched it)
made him change his mind about judgements of the plant..and even though
there were still, imho, a few misleading concerns included, it seems to
have had a positive effect on the attitudes of many people.

My parents and myself use CBD tincture drops. My parents use it to fight

It has NO psychoactive effects – CBD GETS RID OF PAIN AND THAT’S IT. Nobody
is getting fucked up on CBD or abusing it. The DEA needs to stop this war
      on a plant.

the US now? You guys should collectively get the DEA directors in a
straight jacket and march him off to prison for corruption and crimes

    • Posted by surgeyX, at Reply

Same thing with DMT. I always wondered how something could be made illegal
that literally exists *everywhere* in nature. I’m not sure what the legal
argument would be though. Would be interesting if anyone knows a lawyer
they could ask…Would love to hear their answer.

    • Posted by Ahlamkin, at Reply

Eventually someone powerful enough will point this out and demand level
tests done on DEA members themselves. Then, when they have to face their
own consequences, itll quickly change to being perfectly safe…

    • Posted by Dean Dubois, at Reply

I don’t know about everyone already having CBD’s in their bodies, and I
have read research saying that the body can produce minute amounts of CBD,
but the biggest thing science is not willing to acknowledge is that the
human brain does have a multitude of CBD receptors. If we have those
receptors in our brains then logically there should be some connection to
humans and the usage of the plant for some purpose I would imagine.

    • Posted by Ahlamkin, at Reply

      +T R E N D Y F O O L actually, CBD, the compound we are talking about, is
found naturally in our bodies. A little bit of research on google can tell
you that. Its not a lot, but enough to make you wonder what the hell kind
of education does the DEA have.

CBD doesn’t get you high at all but what it does do is make those anxiety
pill irrelevant, helps cancer patients, could help brain treat Alzheimer’s,
helps CHILDREN that have seizures. Oh and how could I forget that the main
reason it was banned is because it cuts into big pharma’s profit margin.
There is no possible way to justify a scheduling of this drug at all as it

    • Posted by Alexis Lopez, at Reply

+Jen T that’s true but the only one I know of is that CBD makes you hungry.
I think that’s literally it. CBD is like the yin to THCs yang its purely
      positive. You’re right bro

    • Posted by Jen T, at Reply

Alexis Lopez im not disagreeing at all i completely believe there is a
tonnn of potential for marijuana and its derivatives. i have not tried CBD
myself, its hard to come by unless it comes from a dispensery. but i have
heard accounts from well established potheads that yea it doesn’t get you
high. but then i have also watched a documentary about CBD and cancer kids
anddd if im honest…they do look a little high. so maybe it depends on
tolerance levels. also “high” could be alot of different states so maybe
not like couch lock high ya know..but also not sober. idk really, they just
looked a little high to me. BUT STILL the chemo meds and other things they
give kids have way more DANGEROUS side affects. id much rather my child be
a little more in lala land than usual than to see them hugging the toliet
and not eating, pretty much withering away.

Fascism is not lobbying fascism is the state giving monopolies to
corporations and governments remove any legal bureaucracy that prevents
them from operation. Lobbyists work for more favorable regulation
conditions for corporations that make them more money at the expense of
regulations. In fascism, regulations are never applied and are vanished.
