+ozzyjames87 so what about the 56 story skyskraper in caracas Venezuela in 2004 that burned for 17 hrs it didnt collapse? Keep tellin yourself that but maybe check what really happend

    • Posted by dangerouslytalented, at Reply

… again, concrete core. Part of the steel frame did collapse in the tower in Caracas, but the collapse was localised because of the concrete cores and other concrete supporting members.

    • Posted by xebek, at Reply

+b234098324 And your evidence for that is…? You see where this is going.

damn I feel so bad for the residents of London right now…. they just can’t seem to catch a break… this is heartbreaking looking at the photos and videos knowing that people are dying inside at that very moment the photos are being taken. 😦😒

    was there no sprinkler system?

The building was built in the 70’s, I have heard lots of stories about how bad wiring was in London and England, in general, was very bad and caused lots of problems, I had a teacher, former OSA inspector lived there back then.

    • Posted by Butter Balls, at Reply

adam perkins. I’m not sure where you’re getting your information from. British wiring is of a high standard generally. That was not the case in this particular block.

    • Posted by Grahamhg, at Reply

No. The building was built in the late 60s.

    • Posted by Miss Shuck, at Reply

British wiring, in general, is of a very high standard. but these apartments were built in the 1960’s and were not maintained by the Council, despite constant complaints.

    • Posted by adam perkins, at Reply

As I said a former teacher, was an OSA inspecter, altho he may have been comparing the wiring in England to America, said he worked with electricians from there

Early reports from witnesses/tenants say it was a fridge that caught fire on the fourth floor. Not confirmed.

    • Posted by Francesca, at Reply

I know, that’s what boggled me when my neighbour told me that.

    • Posted by Tony Bianchi, at Reply

Yeah, probably was the wiring connected to it / near it. I just put it in here because it wasn’t mentioned.

A fridge is the largest electrical item that most people own and they are kept running 24/7. A new fridge is pretty safe but an old fridge which has wear and tear can cause a fire. I don’t know what caused this fire but fridges can actually catch fire.

Muslims saved some people. Now where are the islamophobic to bark?

    • Posted by multiyoisi mok, at Reply

theres nothing wrong with being islamophobic. islam is a religion the promotes killing non believers, and gays. and supressses women. i can understand defending muslims (they are still people) but dont try to defend islam

    • Posted by Alexa Saperstein, at Reply

Mughal Haider they saved other muslims dumbass. If it was gays they’d dismiss it as “god’s will”. You’re such an idiot

    • Posted by Science Knowledge, at Reply

Alexa Saperstein that’s right because in the bible says something totally different about killing homosexuals.

  9. Posted by Mishket Ayari, at Reply

There is a video where a woman was talking about how Muslims helped many people during that fire! But still some stupid saying that was a terrorist attack by muslims!!!

    • Posted by Joshua Opell, at Reply

Mishket Ayari, why do you assume that I hate anyone? I have shown where you’re wrong on many of your assumptions but you dont seem to listen when I point it out. I can show you that Islam is a big threat and why you should abandon it, but you have to be willing to listen. Islam is a religion that actually dies promote hatred and violence.

So a building is fully engulfed in flames for almost 12 hours and it didn’t collapse like the WTC? SHOCKING!!!

    • Posted by G. Whistler, at Reply

You’re not really covering yourself in glory are you

  11. Posted by amoxford 2, at Reply

Most of the people living in the building were Muslims

    • Posted by the green man, at Reply

what difference does that make, do you have a point to that observation or are you just trolling?

    • Posted by amoxford 2, at Reply

the green man everyone in the comments is blaming it on Muslims so why would Muslims go and burn themselves

  12. Posted by Hafsah Noor, at Reply

This building was highly concentrated with muslims… muslims volunteered all day to help those affected… yet ‘its muslims again!’

“But he will never be MY President”

      – I can only assume you are talking in some figurative, subjective and ultimately meaningless sense because if you are a citizen of the USA then Trump literally and objectively IS YOUR PRESIDENT.

Guys im from chelsea my sister lives in Latimer , nearby where the tower burnt , it wasnt a terrorist attack , but It was faulty wiring and the cladding On the outside of the tower caught fire very easily, it was also hard to get people out because of the congestion in the stairwells ,it was one of the scariest days of peoples lives You can DM me @novembers.own if you would like to know more , stay safe , love to all

    • Posted by dangerouslytalented, at Reply

I have seen this before, in Melbourne a building that was partially clad in the stuff caught fire, also in South Korea and the UAE. Most didnt burn as badly as this because they didn’t have as much of it.

    • Posted by Torontopia, at Reply

You got that right, yes, it was government housing and very badly maintained!

    • Posted by Klatu Satori, at Reply

The local conservative council outsourced the management of the building to a private company.

xMxH Wtc 7….47 stories…not hit by plane, some debris damage, small fires in lower floor, fell neatly into it’s own footprint in less than 7 seconds.

Jimi Middle Finger dude, please don’t entertain this guy. This is now the 3rd time I have found xMxH in the comments trying to convince people that planes took down the WTC, the guys either certifiably insane, or he works for the government try to suppress thought in the community, as if that’s gonna work… Just don’t acknowledge him and maybe he’ll go away…

Looky, looky, we have morons in the comments saying, “Muslims are at it again!” When we have no clue who or what even started that fire. The stupidity level among these conservatives is over 9000.

  16. Posted by DJ Sapien, at Reply

LMAO no cuckservatives, this wasn’t Muslims. In fact, most of the victims are poor black and brown folks. You know, people you racists don’t give AF about. The only terrorists involved here are greedy and irresponsible white builders, managers and fire marshals who ignored code violations, faulty wiring and other fire hazards because these people were seen as disposable.

This is heartbreaking. I don’t even know what to say. I read that some parents were throwing their children out of the windows to hopefully save them, when the parents realized that they couldn’t escape.

    • Posted by Teethgrinder 83, at Reply

Eguzzisme yep at the very least one mother had to throw her child out the window-thankfully the kid was caught but still, can you imagine the panic you’d need to be in to do that πŸ˜•

    • Posted by Eguzzisme, at Reply

Teethgrinder 83 I’m a mother. It kills me to know that the last moments of that mother’s life was frantically saving her child. It’s not even something one thinks about. At that point, it’s instinctive, save your little one no matter what. Thank goodness she didn’t die in vain, and one day her baby will know exactly how much her mama loved her.

Melly Kidd This shouldn’t happen with a sprinkler system…

    • Posted by Ab Mo, at Reply

Travis DeJong sprinkler system is way too expensive the Uk believe in passive safety not active safety and it failed

    • Posted by munky342, at Reply

      Ab Mo

Not true. This building was simply built before the regulations that dictate the need for a sprinkler system. The regulation didn’t work retroactively, so any building built before the regulation came into effect didn’t legally require a sprinkler system. Do a little research before you make assumptions about an entire nation.

    • Posted by Klatu Satori, at Reply

Actually Ab Mo is right about no requirement for sprinklers in UK. But this building apparently had far worse problems. Not even a building-wide alarm system, and the only instruction they had in event of fire was stay in your flat.
