Brian Schear, of Huntington Beach, stated he and his household were flying overnight from Hawaii to L.a last week when staff members inquired to give up the seat where their 2-year-old son was resting, reported KABC-TV.

He aimed to refuse and also was threatened with prison, inning accordance with the video clip.

" You have to give up the seat or you're mosting likely to prison, your partner is mosting likely to jail as well as they'll take your kids from you," Schear remembered the steward saying.

Why are these airline companies hiring all of these failed UFC fighters?

I think the better question is why are all these airline employees such dicks?

I remember when you could smoke in elevators and in any airline seat. My parents wouldn’t have understood you if you suggested I couldn’t run around unsupervised from sunup to sundown. “Be home for dinner” was the extent of their weekend parenting. You poor young folks.

industry wide confrontational policies – how about this? If your customer makes a innocent mistake navigating your ridiculously unintuitive system, maybe you help him fix it? You have a computer just outside the door in the terminal. It would have taken less time to just print him the correct boarding pass. Instead of going for the nuclear option and harassing a paying customer?

Buy a ticket for a seat on an airline, but, you’re not guaranteed to have a seat on that flight. Awesome…. Daylight robbery.

    • Posted by james smith, at Reply

They bought a ticket for someone not on the plane

    • Posted by James Russell, at Reply

Still bought and paid for the ticket. Would Delta refund the payment for that seat before selling it to another passenger? Hell no.

Ever since they made that you could only carry 50 lb bags, less seat space, and terrible food. Airlines have been going downhill

    • Posted by Tyler, at Reply

Yep, they started slashing costs and adding extra fees when the airlines were all going bankrupt, and realized later, when they were all doing much better financially, that they recieved much larger profit margins if those policies stayed in place. Also the competition in the industry has really decreased in the last decade or so, which never really ends well for customers.

+Tyler who cares about what the airlines give. point is you go to point A to point B. period.

  7. Posted by Leisure Muffin, at Reply

What does it matter whose name the seat is in?  If I want to buy an entire row, and leave it empty, I should be able to.  I paid for the seats…

In any other business if you sell the same thing to two different customers that’s called fraud and you could go to jail. In the airline business if you sell the same thing to two different customers that’s called overbooking and the customers could go to jail.

    • Posted by Lawrence Howe, at Reply

+Mike Clough so why can’t I sit in first class? They already let me board the plane.

    • Posted by Mike Clough, at Reply

Huh? You could sit in first class if they let you. There is no law stopping that. And it happens a fair bit too.

    • Posted by Jim is the man, at Reply

@Mike: Most commonly they target frequent flyers with lots of miles for the “free first class upgrade”… and they do it when they need to free up a coach seat because of some other screw up (or a rare attack of helpfulness).

    • Posted by Lawrence Howe, at Reply

+Mike Clough my point is, if ur not paying for a seat, but to fly, then why can’t I sit wherever I want? It’s cause I am paying for a seat.

How hard would it have been for delta to give a little customer service! I understand there’s faa rules, but come on it’s a tiny baby that poses no threat!!!

    • Posted by missourigreen051, at Reply

The baby is no threat?!! I’m not so sure about that. I remember in 2014 a 9 month old baby in Pakistan got arrested for attempted murder. I can see why the airline acted the way they did towards that baby.

    • Posted by Granvell Hill, at Reply

First off they are not in pakistan, and when something like that actually happens on u.s. soil i could understand your argument! Second, how in the hell was the baby allowed to board the plan in the first place? The plane ticket was for an older son that left a day prior, and not for a baby! That alone shows the incompetence of delta, and airport security. Third of all there was no reason for the delta employee to threaten to have the parents arrested, and have the baby put into a foster home / cps custody for this situation! That was totally uncalled for, especially when the parents aren’t being aggressive towards them. Whatever happened to customer service, and the customer is always right? These are the people that are helping that delta employee to have a job, and keep delta running as a business!!! I by no means condone the parents actions of not notifying the airlines of the switch! I also understand that the rules are the rules, but the delta employee didn’t even know what the rules were, or at the very least understand how to explain the rules correctly. This situation could have been handled without embrassing the parents of the baby, delaying the flight, and removing the family off of the plane!!! As a parent myself delta just got added to my list of airlines i won’t fly on!!!

    • Posted by missourigreen051, at Reply

response to Granvell Hill I was being sarcastic, my point is the airline is becoming almost as bad as Pakistan (and yes the thing I said about the baby being arrested is real in case if you thought sarcasm means I made the whole thing up as a joke, no the only thing I made up is how I acted like babies are dangerous). I’m going to assume you’re Republican, usually it’s hard for them to detect sarcasm.

    • Posted by Granvell Hill, at Reply

missourigreen051 Lmfao no i’m not a republican, and you’re the first person to ever assume that of me lmao!! It’s my bad that i didn’t catch you’re sarcasm! I’m currently fighting off the flu, and haven’t been able to get much sleep. Thanks for assuming that i’m a republican you just made my day! I’m going to be lmfao all day over that assumption!!!

Why are people still flying!?!?!?!? The entire industry has become full of vile, arrogant slime who can’t find the words “customer service” in the dictionary. This whole overbooking scheme that they all use is absolute poison. We have to turn to other transit options; trains, cars, buses, boats. Stop taking planes!!!!

    • Posted by Name and Address Witheld, at Reply

Do anything else until these problems get fixed…at the end of the day it’s up to the customer to choose where they wanna go so they have the power to make the airlines think again about their services..
