You cut your finger, you go to the emergency room for a stitch or two. You might expect to pay the majority of your fees towards the hospital staff and doctors that helped you right? But you also have to pay for 18 bureaucrats in a huge insurance building somewhere, paying for those who actually contribute nothing in the long term. The majority of your bill goes to the executives and owners of the insurance company. Health insurance is a scam, everyone needs health care, you don’t use insurance for things everyone needs, derp.

Oh you mean like when the democrats by passed the republicans over Obama’s  ACA bill that you couldn’t read until it was passed? how hypocritical people can be. then in the ACA they can kill you by decapitation and chip you under a supposed health care bill. We have become crazy in this country. And half of you never even searched Obama care to even know what’s in it. And that’s not to say I’m in favor of this health care bill either. I’m just making a point.

This is making America sound more and more like some kind of bureaucratic hell. I don’t mean to brag, but I honestly didn’t realise how lucky I am to be living in the UK.

It’s disgusting how the Republicans are shrouding their bill in secrecy. It will likely be a terrible bill as a result.

    • Posted by BillieJo Benway, at Reply

I would guess that that is the reason they are doing it so secretly. They don’t want to give people time to go over the bill and to speak against it. They were unsuccessful the first time because of the opposition picking it apart and the public going nuts about it. Much easier to wait to unveil it until the end so noone can try to change it or rally against it.

    • Posted by Margaret Johnson, at Reply

Billy Jo Benway; your statement is very ill informed indeed, because we forget they did the same thing with the Obama care nancy Pelosi stated you couldn’t read what was in the bill until it was passed. But oh yeah it was okay because it was Obama not trump. We need to realize republican democrats all the same they work for the same team to keep us divided.  And believe you me we are not on that team non of us. Better get Jesus.

Margaret Johnson lol finally someone that understood what I meant when I said sounds very familiar. I’m convinced that all these “liberals” these days either just got into politics when trump won and know absolutely nothing or literally just ignore things that go against their agenda and pretend like it doesn’t exist because it obviously has to be either one or the other.

    • Posted by Elena Duran, at Reply

@ Listenbuddy1: car insurance and health insurance are 2 separate things. A car is a commodity and the purpose of car insurance is to protect that commodity (or someone else’s). A person’s health and by extension, their life, is NOT a commodity. Life and health are not optional or a luxury like a car is. It’s too bad people with your mentality are either incapable or unwilling (likely the latter) to understand the distinction. Because maybe if you did, then so many people wouldn’t be suffering needlessly. You make yourself appear to be a pathetic excuse of a “human” being. Come back with something comparable or STFU.

Republicans generally don’t believe in evolution by natural selection.
…Until it comes to individuals with medical conditions.
      After they’re born, of course.
A pregnant woman deciding to get an abortion, because ultrasound tests have shown that the fetus has a severe heart-defect, and would die soon after being born, without emendate heart surgery, and she doesn’t have the money to pay for the operation?
Using tax-dollars to create and fund a government program which would pay for the heart surgery free of charge; thus enabling her infant to survive?
      Godless communism.

Actually, I was referring more to our ideals like not participating in torture and nation building such as we did with Japan, turning an enemy into an ally. I am well aware of the slavery and genocide of our past. Almost every nation has similar histories.

Yes, a lot of people seem to forget that they couldn’t become successful if not for the society they live in. We’re all part of this society, if part of it doesn’t work noting else will either. In fact, if those assembly line workers went on strike there would be no one to mass produce that invention, rendering it worthless.

+Michael Weaver Part of it is the fact that so many of us live in smaller towns. There are so few of us, and we see each other all the time. We don’t have the same big city mentality that the US does. I live in Toronto, in the poor part of the city, Scarborough. Toronto is THE big city, but there is less than three million folks here. There are, I believe, less than forty million people in Canada. Now, think about the US, with over 300 millions of people.
How can anyone make themselves care about 300 million other people?! It’s too much! The mind boggles!!
Break it down: think about the people you like in your neighborhood, the building you work in, the people in your family that you actually enjoy seeing. What if they would benefit if you paid $100.00 a year in taxes? Think of it this way; what if YOUR child is diagnosed with a nasty, fast moving cancer that needs a lot of money to stop? Wouldn’t it be nice if the neighborhood said ” This child must be saved, we must all pitch in to help pay the bill.”
That’s what the Canadian system does. Everyone pitches in, so someone else’s child can be saved.
