I usually am in agreement with most things you guys say, but on this occasion I feel your opinions are very ignorant on the rave scene. it’s not just about drugs and getting laid, it’s about peace love unity and respect amongst all humans. ✌

+Justin Uribe You’re right, but you’re wrong. What you’ve said as far as the peace, music and acceptance aspect of the culture is true… but you’re ignoring the fact that drugs are also an integral part of rave culture. They go hand in hand, and have since the beginning.

Eironeia JSPS I haven’t ignored it at all. My argument is that it is not ONLY about drugs and sex. There is much more to the scene, that’s all I was getting at, and in reference to the Young turks opinions towards it, she literally says in the video and I quote ” I don’t like the negative stuff like it’s a scene and you have to look a certain way” says who? you don’t have to look anyway to go to a rave who told her that? it’s false information. Then she follows it by saying ” the best part about a rave is you’re under the influence “. that’s her opinion and I happen to feel she’s wrong. as I stated before I’ve been going for years to several music festivals all around the world. The best part about it is the people you meet, the vibes, the music and the visuals depending on what show you go to. I’ve made life long friendships with people at pretty much every event and I’ve been to and THAT is what raving is about, not Only drugs and sex.

+Justin Uribe I get that that’s what’s most important to you, and I think that’s great. That being said, for many people it shares equal importance with the drug aspect, and for some the drugs are the major draw. We’ve all had our own experiences, and I think it’s fair to say she was speaking to her own experiences rather than trying to generalize about what raving means for everyone. Plus, let’s be real… you may say you’re not ignoring it, but you’re clearly favoring your own “best part” over what others consider to be their “best part” when both parts have been present from the start and are equally valid. Frankly, you’re not being very accepting when you dismiss her opinion as wrong.

Eironeia JSPS Explain, I can’t expect people that don’t normally rave to understand a culture they know nothing about. Saying that raving is “EMPHASIS” on “ONLY” about drugs and sex is not an opinion, that’s false. Do you go to a movie theater to watch a movie or to eat popcorn ? Of course you go for the movie, the popcorn or what ever you choose to eat or drink is secondary. Why would I pay 400$ for a music festival just to get fucked up on drugs? I’m obviously there for the artists amongst other things. Drugs are part of the scene yes, is it necessary to enjoy the show? No.

Sober raves are really cool I think. I’ve never been to one (went to one non sober rave before just to try it) but I think I would actually prefer to be sober and dance. Why is that so wrong? It sounds like it would put you in such a positive head space for the day? Why harsh on this guys come on.
