Why isn’t the Young Turks talking about the Youtube Ad Crisis? You claim to be for the people and yet you aren’t talking about how major corporations and the mainstream media are trying to block independent voices through pulling ads from Youtube content creators……this is very hypocritical of you Cenk and Co!!!

Be about it, don’t just talk about it!!

They did, on Jimmy Dore’s channel. Jimmy Dore is part of TYT, and his videos are constantly being demonitized by this very thing. Stop being a moron.

    • Posted by Kadeem H, at Reply

That makes no sense when other channels that are part of the TYT network also lost money. It was a global thing and had nothing to do with TYT. To even think TYT has that kind of pull on youtube is nonsensical.

    • Posted by beeyah805, at Reply

+Kadeem H nobody has pull on YouTube except the google execs. Youtube is behind TYT because they have the numbers, which is what they need to pull that revenue. Doesn’t hurt that they also ideologically back them as well.

    • Posted by beeyah805, at Reply

Literally every single one of my other “news” or commentary channels with any sort of clout has posted a video regarding these happenings…except TYT. Not a coincidence.

    • Posted by Taylor Dyssegard, at Reply

they reported on the issue repeatedly whenever the claim surfaces if you watch their coverage you’ll be able to see how nuanced the issue really is

You guys will NEVER talk about Islam this way. The Christophobia of the left is the reason why it continues to lose.

    • Posted by Johnyliltoe, at Reply

When we have antiquated and comically distorted references to Islam baked into our culture I’m sure there will be more criticism. The thing is, Islam is largely an external problem. Islamic terrorism happens, but is inproportionately broadcast. In the big picture, it’s pretty rare.

If you pay attention to what progressives are typically trying to do it’s fixing the problems at home first. You’ll hear complaints about how women are treated in Muslim society, or how Russia is still VERY anti-LGBT, but the bulk of what’s being done is to finish working on our own culture. As it should be. It’s more practical to fix things at home than pretend that complaining about others is somehow going to improve something.

-Criticize Christianity. Insult and ridicule Christians. Put images of Jesus in dung and piss. The liberal cries “FREE SPEECH!”
    – Do the same for Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, etc and you’ve crossed the line.

    • Posted by jay shawn, at Reply

I focus on Islam because Christianity gets abundant hostility from the popular, mainstream leftist media. My question to you is why NOT ALSO include Islam. it seems to me that secularists, atheists, liberals, want to ONLY focus on Christianity.

    • Posted by Secular Guy, at Reply

Jay Shawn *”My question to you is why NOT ALSO include Islam”*

Read my first comment again. I said _”I spare no religion”_

*”it seems to me that secularists, atheists, liberals, want to ONLY focus on Christianity.”*

Many of us do, maybe you’re only seeing what you want to see.
I agree that mainstream liberal media gives Islam a free ride a lot of the time, but your average active atheist, secularist, etc, does not. We tackle all religions, and religion as a whole.

    • Posted by jay shawn, at Reply

I don’t think so. People like Bill Maher and Ayaan Hirsi Ali are SLAMMED for their “islamophobia.” The left is embracing islamists.

    • Posted by Secular Guy, at Reply

      Jay Shawn
Maher and Ayaan (two people I also admire) identify as liberal and left leaning individuals. You using them as examples, is itself evidence that not all on the left are soft on Islam.
It depends on which organisation / person you’re talking about.
However, how many *right-wing* leaning publications / news organisations, celebrities do you know who criticise Christianity? They’ll talk about Islam until they’re blue in the face, but ignore the problems inherent in Christianity.

So lick me the video where TYT has mocked Islamic Holy Days and compared them to porn hubs.

    • Posted by Pagan Libertarian, at Reply

Whenever a MUSLIM blows something up and drives through a crowd of people in one of our Western allies, TYT doesn’t call it Islamic terror and doesn’t say Islam had anything to do with it. This is because they are paid by Islamic countries.

    • Posted by Rachel Schmied, at Reply

Cenk recently told a story about how his Turkish relatives tried to heal someone with some silly Muslim prayers/ritual, and how even as a teenager he thought it was laughable. He continued to make fun of it in the context of speaking in tongues and how any religious person who thinks that it’s real (Christian or Muslim) is a crackpot. We agnostics/atheists find all religions mock-worthy. See also: Religulous

So making fun of Christians while they’re getting butchered in the Middle East is totally fine, but make fun of Muslims and suddenly”RACISM!!!”

    • Posted by Solus Christus, at Reply

What the hell is a snowflake anyway? Is that suppose to be some type of innuendo for republicanism. I’m sick of of people who think progressives have to be anti-Christ. About as annoying as the religious right that think Christians have to be republiscums.

    • Posted by Listenbuddy1, at Reply

At least we can all agree, Christians are better people.

    • Posted by James G, at Reply

The Oni Depending on the middle eastern country, I’m pretty sure the butchering is happening to Christians and Muslims and Jewish and all people over there. It’s more accurate to say everyone except for the super rich are getting butchered in the war torn countries.

Also, understandably, because we’re at war with many primarily Muslim countries and there’s lot of international religious tension, many Muslims in the West face discrimination. I grew up Muslim; I saw and still see discrimination. (Side note: I became atheist as I learned more about religions and read their texts, so perhaps I have an inside and outside view on things a little.)

Because of the discrimination Muslim people face, people tread carefully when it comes to making jokes about Islam because they want to be sensitive to the discrimination faced by this community. But, trust me, there are a lot of jokes about Islam that go around and those jokes don’t automatically make a person racist.

We should all take ourselves a little less seriously. However, many religious people struggle with that because historical religious figures are so revered. Thankfully, free speech is a thing. And we all have the right to be offended. <3

There are also claims of Eostre, but they are all modern pagans, without any evidence of ancient pagans worshiping her, prior to the Christian holiday of Easter.

    • Posted by xinic5, at Reply

Here’s an article with an obvious slant in favor of her existing as a goddess in at least some Anglo Saxon groups. But they admit there is little to nothing know of Eostre. That most everything comes from wiccans (a “neo-paganism of the 1800s) and modern neo pagans. https://www.thoughtco.com/eostre-spring-goddess-or-neopagan-fancy-2562488

Theismphobes. They don’t respect any religions and neither do I. However, the Islamaphobe label is applied to those that don’t believe in freedom of religion. You can defend equality without be partial to a religion, you dumbass.

    • Posted by HeresyTalk, at Reply

Islam is not seen as opposite to Christianity. It is seen as the third and final revelation of the Abrahamic faiths. Jesus and Moses are both seen as reveled prophets.

I believe all three to be superstitious nonsense that are insulting to any reasonable persons intelligence. But I think that the paganisms in Christianity are mainly there to have made the religion more acceptable to the pagans of Europe at the time.

    • Posted by Ryan, at Reply

Opposite of Christianity would be Satanism or just not believing in Christianity at all. Islam is simply another copy cat religion and in general, just another collection of lies. Of course it was. Same with Christmas.

It equally applies to Muslims. Hindus & observant Jews too.
Basically it applies every religious group that gets all bent out of shape at a joke, a cartoon, a bit of relevant criticism, etc.
It doesn’t apply to all religious people though, because not all religious people overreact or think they should be safe from having their feelings hurt.
