Corporations are probably the worst invention in human history.

The people working at Exxon are gullible to the seduction of junk science computer modeling like anyone else. Climate change belief is not caused by a ‘hoax’ – it is a result of our fascination with science and mathematics that even TECHNICALLY CAPABLE scientists usually don’t understand in a deeply PHILOSOPHICAL sense.

Corporations have their place. Without them we would not have mass manufacturing like we do with all the products and “life toys” we enjoy. It is not cost effective to have small companies manufacture large ticket items like cars, computers, and such. The amount of resources to create the next Intel processor usually takes more than what a single mom&pop or even factory company can provide. Same with those large scale movies we all enjoy today.

The problem is like children, man often does not understand the consequences of their own choices and actions.

John D;oh How? I described the process by which a bike is made, which quite frankly is very unfriendly to the environment, and more than likely cancels out the benefits created by riding a bike. I’m not saying people shouldn’t, but don’t take the moral high ground and try to discredit the very thing that allows you to live with all of the luxuries you have.

      Yusuke Urameshi – The laws governing corporations was never meant to be used the way it has been used for these last several decades;
Initially, the privilege of incorporation was granted selectively to enable activities that benefited the public, such as construction of roads or canals. Enabling shareholders to profit was seen as a means to that end. The states also imposed conditions (some of which remain on the books, though unused) like these*:
Corporate charters (licenses to exist) were granted for a limited time and could be revoked promptly for violating laws.
Corporations could engage only in activities necessary to fulfill their chartered purpose.
Corporations could not own stock in other corporations nor own any property that was not essential to fulfilling their chartered purpose.
Corporations were often terminated if they exceeded their authority or caused public harm.
Owners and managers were responsible for criminal acts committed on the job.
Corporations could not make any political or charitable contributions nor spend money to influence law-making.

Greed and corruption has allowed these “corporations” to exploit our lives, our politics and our environment.

    Money is destroying our planet…

Rd G, you only pay for a solar panel/wind turbine once. Fossil fuel power requires the PURCHASE OF FUEL FOREVER.

Profits are ok, corruption and collusion is not, dimwit.

    • Posted by Rd G, at Reply

Jebus Hypocristos you moron. Corruption and collusion are bad not money. Its neutral. Companies researching better solar panels and building them also like money. Doesnt matter if its exxon trying to sell as much oil or first solar trying to sell as much panels as possible. Corrupt politicians are the problem. Difference in products is irrelevant to that point. They both like money. Your comment implies a one time sale (often not true maintenance etc) makes them not interested in the problem money (as said in top comment) but selling oil does make you interested. Stupid non logic. My comment was about the implication that money is only destroying while its the driving force behind the solutions. Your reading comprehension of a bonobo and intelligence of a worm made you miss the entire point.

I’m don’t really get the phrase “clean coal” that right wingers love throwing around. Burning coal is going to cause co2 emissions regardless when it is used. What are they doing? Shining it up really nice so people appreciate the pretty coal before they burn it? Rediculous for anyone to find burning anything that releases co2 doesn’t cause changes to the atmosphere.

    • Posted by Mephistahpheles, at Reply

“So where does it go after it has been stored?” Fair question, but there are places it can be stored…like “in plants”. (Plants use CO2 and produce O2.)

Maybe if coal people got together with Mosanto to create a fast growing something to “eat the CO2” as fast as coal produced it…..two wrongs making a right?

Mosanto could even have a side business selling O2 to NYC, LA, Beijing….

May seem crazy buying bottled air (it is), but we buy bottled water in bottles made of plastic manufactured by Dupont that pollutes the water forcing us to buy bottle water.

This isn’t the first time the Oil Industry LIED. Back in the 1960’s Leaded Gas was big profit for them and they knew that lead was poisoning the air that we breath, poisoning the oceans and the water that we drink, and poising our food supply. This is why you hear reports on limiting certain food for high lead. For 2 decades they lobbied Congress to prevent laws that would eliminate lead in gas. They lied back then and they are lying again.

    • Posted by Chuck-U Farly, at Reply

      LOCK THEM UP!!!
We should put all the Oil CEOs on trial and lock them up for a very long time. They should fined in the billions and they should be locked up for decades.

    • Posted by The Hypnotoad, at Reply
