A farm in Arizona forces their workers to stay in squalor. Cenk Uygur as well as Ana Kasparian, the hosts of The Young Turks, simplify. Tell us just what you think in the comment area below.

The federal government claims an Arizona farm has maintained short-term Mexican employees in repulsive problems and also paid a few of them only a fraction of what they are owed.

The Department of Labor submitted a claim against G Farms in El Mirage, located simply northwest of Phoenix az, last week. A court was set up to hear disagreements on Tuesday.

The division says that G Farms housed concerning 70 employees here on a visa in a hazardous as well as unsanitary encampment composed of institution buses, semitrailers, a freight container as well as an open-air shed.

A lawyer for G farms claimed the claims were overblown and inaccurate and that the farm has actually already placed workers in a resort as well as apartments. Lawyer Rick Mahrle stated he would not be arguing against a federal government ask for a temporary limiting order and that the ranch would adhere to all regulations.

" There's been no intention here of ever before breaking any regulations or doing anything that harms these people who come and harvest the crops below in Arizona," Mahrle stated.

Inning accordance with court files, the farm crammed 10 workers right into each college bus to sleep in. The rear departures of the buses were obstructed by a mobile ac system, producing a safety and security threat. The records state the air conditioner only blew warm air.".

Workers you must unite through syndicalism, you have nothing to lose but your chains- quite literally in this case.

I’m sure Attorney General Beauregarde Sessions would make it illegal for non-citizens to organize and protest.

james smith lmao. “Stating facts”. Says the one who hates other people because of their race. Do you want some facts people like you don’t belong in the 21 century. Your existence is worthless and pointless. You are the reason people suffer and keep suffering as soon as you die as soon the world become a better place.

Sorgens Kammer I’m born to a foreign country but I could recognize and admit the facts. I’m basque Spaniard 50% the other is Irish, French, African, and Arab. My whole bloodline isn’t American. But I’m here now and I truly love America (the continent) and respect my forefathers and Natives of this country. There’s only 10% percent (or less) of indigenous Mexicans. Lopez isn’t a Mexican last name it derives from Spain. And was brought here in the circa 1400’s by a Sailor, and it means Wolf. I read and looked into the history of my family.

Imagine you lived in one of the shanty towns of Apartheid South Africa, or the run down neighbourhoods of Chicago but even worse, where you had to bribe your mailman to send one letter, and you were told that a few hundred kilometres somewhere else there could be freedom for you and for your family, to make enough so that your children and spouse who you love dearly could also escape from poverty and gang battles, what would your first thought be? Of course not all of Mexico is like this, but it’s just like moving to the suburbs, that costs a lot of money as well to live in a nicer city like the capital or Veracruz

eliminate these types of workers visas, if you can’t pay american citizens enough to do the work you need then your business should fail.

    • Posted by greenjelly01, at Reply

“if you can’t pay american citizens enough to do the work you need then your business should fail.” – The people who say this are the same idiots who also say that we can’t raise the minimum wage by 1$ ‘cos that would raise the price of a burger by 1 cent.

    • Posted by TheL0wner, at Reply

+greenjelly01 funny that I’ve never said that then…assuming you know others opinions usually doesn’t work out. You might have tried simply reading this thread, where the issue of raising wages has already been discussed to see that I’m for it.

    • Posted by MzFoRi3, at Reply

How much do you think they should get paid to do the work? The pay has already been raised with benefits included and offered to American citizens.

    • Posted by TheL0wner, at Reply

+MzFoRi3 as I’ve stated in other replies in this thread, I know many people that would take the jobs as they are now (even moving across the nation to do so), it’s in the employers interest to spread the notion that they need to import this labour. How much of a raise may be needed would vary depending on cost of living in a given area.

    • Posted by Dan Ryan, at Reply

MzFoRi3 As much as it takes to get people to do the work. That’s how the free market is supposed to work, you conservatives love the free market right? Hiring illegal aliens to do the work for so much less skews the market, those who do so should go to jail. No need for a wall then, right?

Farm conditions for those workers are awful, some professors use these situations to describe modern day slavery. So important to talk about this.

    • Posted by atheist zealot, at Reply

And the fact that Democrats advocated for this (by allowing illegals and corporations taking advantage of it) and are the reason this is going on. Seems like slavery never left the Democratic party…

    • Posted by Jennifer, at Reply

I don’t think our government is doing anything to teach humanity. We use it as an excuse to feed the war machine, but in reality we are creating much of the worlds oppressed population all for the greed of a few.
The powerful couldn’t care less for humanity. Our war crimes and many of our allies go unpunished. Saudi (and ourselves) sit on the UN human rights council. Its all a farce.

    • Posted by jaelynn zee, at Reply

That’s so no true! There are horrible, evil people in every nation, culture, race, etc. Not sure where you are getting your info, but Americans pay out a LOT of money to other nation. When a disaster hits, Americans donate out of our own pockets more than any other nation, and always have. Clearly, you don’t know the citizens. You are confusing rich evil people with average citizens, and that’s not right.

I don’t like the cheap labour. I want them to be paid an equal amount as anybody. No person who plots an act of violence or terror or is escaping legal accusations of such should be denied the ability to roam the Earth and to settle where nobody else is presently using the specific plot of soil.

sounds like another form of slavery

    • Posted by Robert Aylor, at Reply

Ragnarok Sora It is not slavery if they are permitted to leave. If they are forbidden from leaving, even informally (such as the church of Scientology does with its Sea Org members) it qualifies as human trafficking (slavery, though not necessarily chattel slavery).

    • Posted by Blob Loblaw, at Reply

Robert Aylor But from what i understand, they _aren’t_ permitted to leave. They will be cooped up in these conditions and there will be guards making sure they stay put. The farmers pay these people, who are then theoretically supposed to pay their workers. But these are the people who hoard them into the country, so they hold onto the money and they expect the workers to work to pay off their debt. But of course, they also withdraw money for rent, food, water, etc.

    • Posted by Phone Number, at Reply

Money is a form of slavery, the people doing the toughest jobs get paid the least, think about that, the people doing the least amount get paid the most, sounds like legal slavery with benefits.

    • Posted by atheist zealot, at Reply

By Democrats seeing as they advocate for illegal immigration and corporations. Those farm conditions are a direct product of the Democrats. Seems like Democrats never change. They pioneered slavery back then and now they are still doing the same…
