Wolf-PAC's goal, combating to upgrade the US government to obtain cash from politics, isn't really easy. Having to fight so-called modern groups on top of that does not make things simpler. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Inform us exactly what you believe in the remark area listed below.
" American political projects are currently funded with a system of legalized bribery. We're working to fix it.

Aid us:
* Amend the Constitution to reverse choices like People United as well as McCutcheon; allow's check runaway political spendingand safeguard everyone's right to be listened to.
* Damage the power of huge loan with tiny donor contributionsand public funds.
* Toughen disclosure laws; let voters recognize that's trying to buy elections.
* Reveal company power in government.
* Provide shareholders control of business political costs." *.

Bernie is not allowed to be a mouthpiece for any organization, including Our Revolution, because of Senate ethics rules.

    • Posted by Samantha Ford, at Reply

Actually. that might hurt us because we need support from both red and blue states. We are a bipartisan organization.

I wonder how long it will take for Cenk to wake up and realize the Democrats aren’t fighting against progressives because they have some “super amazing secret plan”……instead they are just fighting progressives BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT WHAT WE WANT.

We need to find someway to get Bernie sanders to publicly support Wolfpack

    • Posted by Steve G, at Reply

Bernie Sanders actively does not currently support Wolf-PAC. Maybe in the future he will, but he supports going through Congress to get an Amendment, just like Common Cause claims that they do. Sanders has not been openly hostile to us, and certainly hasn’t sabotaged our effort like Common Cause has, but he has been asked to support Wolf-PAC and he doesn’t want to.

    • Posted by MarcusDarkstar, at Reply

To be fair to Bernie the motive to go to the states to support an amendment is to put pressure on Congress to do it themselves like most other amendments have done in the past. We will need people pushing for it in both states and in the congress to get it passed. Its not a either or situation at all. I supported the petition immediately cause outright betrayal like this is not to be tolerated.

Common Cause is run by a bunch of do nothing idiots. But they are well funded. Which begs the question who is funding them and what are they spending it on? They are paid to lose.

    • Posted by Stu Bur, at Reply

The opinion papers created by Common Cause are full of fear mongering quotes from conservatives and dismissing positions of those on the left. Which means they are arguing with the right against the left. They are tools in more than one sense of the word.

    • Posted by Cocoa Tea, at Reply

Stu Bur Most likely another Koch Funded Org. Just like ALEC. Cause I wont buy that Soros, or any other Well off Dem, is funding them. No matter how much Cenk or anyone wanna call him & others ESTABLISHMENT Donors. I dont think they go that low.

it’s also kind of ironic that they say they’ve been fighting money in politics for 40 years, and money in politics has been getting progressively worse and increasingly blatant for…..oh……the last 40 years

    • Posted by Heather L., at Reply

Please take a look at what “begging the question” actually means, then feel free to join me in spreading the word.

(And yes, I’m interested to know who is funding Common Cause and why they want to mess things up for us.)

“While we obsess over 45, the Kochs quietly fund project to rewrite the constitution”

    • Posted by Steve G, at Reply

      1. The sad fact of the rule of law is that Conservatives can use it also to advance their agenda. If they have 34 state legislatures and can get 38 states to ratify their garbage, that’s just democracy. It means that they have such a mandate from the voters that pushing for Conservative things is actually validly their job. It is up to other parties to stop them before they get to that point. If the BBA, which has 28 states right now, gets to 34, that’s an unfortunate day in America, but that’s the law as it should be.
      2. They can have their convention if they reach 34, and Wolf-PAC can have its own separate convention if we reach 34. Just like different Congressmen can choose at any time to push for Amendments, and maybe you’ll agree with one and oppose another, but they have nothing to do with each other.

  11. Posted by Lauren Brown, at Reply

The Young Turks is far left. Thing is, this strategy is bi-partisan. No average American wants bribery, Democrat or Republican. As far left as TYT is, the current Democratic Party is center right. They are what the GOP should be at this point, and that’s why they are losing. Anyone left of center has to throw up their hands and submit to the party who’s a little less awful. No major party is looking out for the American people.

    • Posted by Lauren Brown, at Reply

I also think the “radical change” trend is deceiving. I want it. You want it. A large number of people I talk to don’t seem to. A lot have told me Obama went too far and did too much. I know what you’re thinking – HUH? HOW? – I thought the same thing. I think they’re tired of the snail’s pace and want something different, but radical change is too much for a lot of them. (Mostly older voters, but they tend to vote more, so they are important.)

    • Posted by laudanum09, at Reply

I hear you on a lot of that, agreed agreed agreed, but I gotta say there’s more to it than just “bernie didn’t have that much support.” There’s media spin, outright corruption of the DNC and Clinton, the weight of unfamiliarity to voters, tons of stuff that affected things, most of which were completely out of his hands. The establishment literally were fighting against him from the get go and sought to undermine him, so I just don’t buy the argument about Bernie support. If you took away the corruption and cronyism, he or any other progressive could win in the US, it’s not about public support but perception and that’s shaped by powers greater than you, me or bernie and that’s what needs to get taken down or at the very least, taught to be afraid.

    • Posted by laudanum09, at Reply

radical change isn’t so radical though. medicare for all, education reform, these aren’t revolutionary they’re the international standard. if you paint it as radical change, they’ll say so but if you say how about expanding medicare or making education better? how about doing something about for-profit prisons and money in politics? don’t rely on personal experience but polls and studies that have shown a majority of americans want these things.
