Flint cops were looking for any type of justification to apprehend people at a recent town hall. This consisted of wearing hats (because it was held in a church). Obviously Jesus wants you to remove your hat, bow your head, and also consume your toxin. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, simplifies. Inform us exactly what you assume in the comment section below.

" 6 people were detained Thursday in Flint in a disturbance that erupted after police quit men that hadn't eliminated their hats and also rejected their entry to a church shelter where a city center conference on whether the city should begin attracting water once more from the Flint River, a move 3 years ago that led to precariously high levels of lead in the city drinking supply of water, or proceed getting it from Detroit. Some people who were "cussing in the church" during the psychologically raw town hall conference were also escorted away from the house of Petition Promoter Baptist Church by authorities, inning accordance with media reports.

The police actions agitated several in the crowd of concerning 100 individuals who argued that when the church opened its doors for government objectives, standard etiquette should not apply. At the beginning of the meeting, Flint Authorities Principal Tim Johnson asked the guys to eliminate their hats and warned that any person who was turbulent would certainly be gotten rid of." *.

Shame on these people for wanting clean drinking water in a first world country! I mean REALLY, there’s a damn $15 billion dollar wall that needs to be built! Once it’s built, perhaps that will keep the lead out of the water for them.

John Marks No, I’m a liberal who feels obligated to point out hypocrisy and double standards when I see them.. Right now I see them everywhere in the progressive wing. Case in point the triple murder of 3 whites at the hands of a black racist.. neither tyt or secular talk would touch this story.. But we both know had the races been reversed Cenk/tyt and Kyle would still be talking about it. In fact they’d still be bringing it up this time next year.
I find this narrative over newsworthiness rather disturbing yet they all flame the right wing media for cherry picking stories to fit their narrative while ignoring the inconvenient ones.. Stunning hypocrisy that you seem comfortable with, as a liberal I’m not comfortable with it.
I’m not trying to fool anyone John I just want honest reporting. I don’t want anybody deciding which stories get an airing based on race whether it’s left or right doing it.

    • Posted by Ambassador of Truth, at Reply

LL Kewl J – if you’re going to have a town-hall in a church, or mosque you have to obey the rules of that institution.
It never should have been there to begin with.

    • Posted by Paul Hughes, at Reply

nope if its a gov function the 1st amendment supersedes the rule of the institution. religion is a cancer anyway

  13. Posted by roger Brownfield, at Reply

they violated their 1st amendment rights by holding a government function in a religious place of worship and HOLDING them accountable to those religious standards in order to be heard. Gross first amendment violation!!!

    • Posted by Zurround100, at Reply

Years ago the voting booth was in a church but the building just HAPPENED to be a church, at that moment it was a voting booth and none of the religious rules applied and I was fine with it but if I was told I had to dress a certain way to vote there because it was a church THEN it would be combining church and state. That did not happen but had it happened I would have been very angry.

I went to an AA meeting and worked for a time on a charity school financed and located on a Catholic Church. In both occasions there was zero push of dogma or religious believes.
When the Catholic Church is less pushy than the US government…
TBH, these were initiatives by people influenced by the Liberation Theology, a bunch of really nice, and progressive, people.

What we need to do is to create a safety net for the people. That means affordable housing for everyone with the right to land use and natural resources that the earth provides for free. If the only job a man can find is working for law enforcement and he has NO OTHER MEANS to provide security for his family then he is going to do whatever it takes to protect them and make them safe. Because we let this system deny these basic things as rights, it opens a Pandora’s Box of horrible acts, and betrayals just so people can survive. Give everyone the guaranteed right to a basic home, land use, clean water and air, and affordable housing – even if that means free for some – and a lot of the ugliness of our culture will be erased.

Note: There is a company called Apis-cor.com that can build a 3D printed home within 24 hours for $10k. A slightly larger home may cost $20k. There is almost nobody who could not pay off such a home in 5 years or less, so there is no reason that any of us should be so desperate for housing that we MUST do what the government bid us do even if it harms the people of our communities. Let’s all get busy in our town councils and fix this mess in our favor.

    • Posted by Trish House, at Reply

In that case, apply option two: Stop paying taxes. Call it the UCC 1-308 movement and get everyone on board to do it all together.

No, YOUR logic is flawed. The police are a tax-payer funded law enforcement organization, not a race, ethnicity, religion or gender.

Yes, ALL police can and should be held accountable for the actions of a few. When one cop breaks the law or violates the Constitution, it is the job of his colleagues to ARREST him and bring charges against him for his crime. When that does not happen, they become COMPLICIT in the crimes.
