So 9/11 heros are now equated to traitors? Wow, I never thought they would stoop THAT low.

Statues of Jesus. Brazil has that giant Jesus statue…everything is cotton candy and rainbows in the favellas.

“Since we don’t put up statues of jesus everyone is going to fall morally short”
Ten Commandments: “Thou shalt make no graven images…”

Who the hell said anything about taking down 9/11 monuments??? Fox News is just ridiculous. Lies, lies, lies!!!! Monuments to TERRORISTS are not the same as monuments to innocent people who died because of TERRORISM. People who kill or enslave others are TERRORISTS, not great Americans, not heroes, and not anyone who should be revered/respected AT ALL. Period.

    • Posted by Mitchell Birkhead, at Reply

Dragonetta I don’t think they were put up to praise them as hero’s or be revered. Maybe, but I don’t think that’s true and if you take a second and think rationally about I don’t think you believe that either.

Nazis were socialist in the same way North Korea is a democratic republic. Last time I checked all the kkkonservatives wanted to keep out jewish refugees during WWII.

SO why not say that in the face of American troops who watch fox news?

    • Posted by cjgt77, at Reply

freedombase, I give them a benefit of the doubt and say they’re smart enough not to watch Fox News.

    • Posted by cjgt77, at Reply

freedombase, as for you, if you watch Fox News then you’re a dumbass.

    • Posted by RLucas3000, at Reply

I respect our troops, but if they are watching Fox News for information, as opposed to just having a laugh, they are not doing themselves any favors.

Fox News peddles ignorance for profit and this is the easiest example to see.
Comparing monuments of traitors to the US with true heroes.

How can anyone, right, left or center, not see how crazy that is?

Please right, please wake up. Don’t ally yourselves with Nazis and the KKK, or politicians who speak up for and support them.

Learn from history, if you want to learn from history, pick up a text book. The statues weren’t build to remember history, they were build as a way to tell black people that white people were still in control and a screw you to them. Ever wonder why many of those statues were built around Jim Crow era and the civil right movement

    • Posted by Nashresi, at Reply

Well said ! No ” mental gymnastics ” are ever needed by people who speak the truth ( like yourself )!

    • Posted by David Bryant, at Reply

I think it would be more accurate to point out that they in the large majority are monuments to slave owners and not the poor non-slave owning whites and freedmen that were then punished for fighting in a civil war that they really had no choice in. It’s called the “Southern Poverty Law center” for a reason. If you’d take five minutes to talk about ALL of the history with any one of these folks with some empathy you might find out they’re just human beings who haven’t had the same opportunities as other people might have do to geography. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Might is right always leads to an insurgency. How do you think we got a revolutionary war. Political and financial interests imposing their will using military enforcement. When are we going to learn that always ends up the same way? But it’s always easier to point the finger at the other than it is to do it in the mirror. As for “mental gymnastics”… since when did thinking for yourself become a bad thing? WTF?

    • Posted by Ryne Green, at Reply

David Bryant okay but these statues were built during the Jim Crow era and during the Civil Right Movement. How do you think it’s like that black people have to pay taxes for statues, that were meant to intimidate black people, up-keeping. And like you say, these statues were of slave owners who try to break away from the states and one of their reason for it was to keep slaves. So why should we keep those statues up?

Fox & Friends are a bunch of idiots. Their comparison is so flawed that it is offensive. In laymen terms it’s basically comparing apples to oranges. They are both fruit but not the same. There are Confederate and 9/11 monuments yes in that sense they are the same but one stands for treason the United States and the right to own slaves. And the other one one stands for a Resolute stand in a defense of the United States and its beliefs in freedom and liberty for all and a promise to never forget those who made the greatest sacrifice for our way of life. So if they’re going to make an argument or statement like that then get your facts straight.

  13. Posted by swfcocs1, at Reply

Well of course they say these things, its about a long term strategy of portraying the centre and especially the left as traitors etc in a similar fashion to McCarthyism

    • Posted by IshtarNike, at Reply

Brian W pretty sure the democratic party didn’t exist when slavery started, seeing as the practice pre-dates the existence of the country.

    • Posted by flyingfishsurf, at Reply

Knock, knock.  Anybody home?  Brian W, you failed history.  Research the ‘dixiecrats’ and the ‘southern strategy’ and the evolution of the Republican Party during the Civil Rights movement.

    • Posted by punchdogggy, at Reply

Brian W no you do go back to school moron

    • Posted by ShadowDurza, at Reply

Brian W The Democratic and Republican party’s are not the same as they were in the days of slavery. In my opinion, the modern Republican party would like the idea of slavery because the wealthy 1% would get to pay EVEN LESS.

Fox News scaring their viewers. Liberals…bad. Jesus, I don’t know any liberal or conservative that would touch a 9/11 Memorial. Don’t put up statues of Jesus? Every church has a statue of Jesus. What the heck?

I prefer statues of people who weren’t traitors.

nothing to learn from monuments of traitors that stand on town squares

  18. Posted by Aaron Wantuck, at Reply

Far right logic: If something does not go your way, create a false equvlency logical fallacy targeting something the left and most the country with at lest an IQ over 85 can identify with as a positive role model or historical event.

For example: Tear down statues of General Lee. Right’s response, “You need to tear down statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.” or “Tear down statues of Martin Luther King.”

You heard it here folks. Fox News says the victims of United 93 are equivalent to traitors who fought against the United States.
