" With votes Friday morning in your house and also Senate, Congress directly prevented a partial closure of the federal government– yet just for a week. Participants of both chambers will certainly return following week to return to service an action to keep the federal government going through September. While the most awful feasible end result was avoided, this recurring fight with among Congress's the majority of standard functions highlights several obstacles encountering the Republican Congress.

Exactly how did we get below?

Why existed also a possibility of a closure? In December, instead of completing deal with costs for fiscal year 2017, Republicans consented to the inbound Trump management's request to wait. This was to permit the brand-new administration to have a duty in talks.

The process has likewise dragged out because the Republicans require Democratic votes. Many thanks to the threat of a filibuster, any type of final deal needs to attract the ballots of at the very least 8 Democrats to pass the Senate." *.

All I did was state facts. If you can’t help but allow your emotions to bulldoze over the facts, then maybe debate isn’t something for you.

I’m all in the favor of cutting government spending…let’s stop giving Republicans a salary and take away their healthcare, and on top of that, let’s quit paying for President Tinyhands’ golfing trips.

Oh, and by the way, if you’re so concerned with TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION then you should be for immigrants, because they work in this country and build it up and are taxed, but do not get represented. Also, the poor are taxed, but do not get represented. The largest demographic that gets represented is the rich. So don’t sling historical phrases you obviously don’t understand.

The highly religious republi Cons *love* corporate welfare, but hate spending anything towards the Elderly, the Sick, and Little Children, even though they hypocritically state otherwise.
Their hypocritical audience believes that the super rich are too poor and they really need extra tax handouts just to survive, while the poor are too rich and need to pay more for essential services, like clean drinking water instead of lead poisoned. Like a “christian” wants.

I am still wondering why people take these racist serious when every respectable leftist completely destroy them. Every story they do is misleading and they are funded by qatar and AJ+ to promote racism to destroy America. They cannot even debate real leftist like tracey or hitchens. And the fact that 60% of there comments come from 2% of the audience means there is alot of bots to make it look like they have activity. How low IQ can tyt fans get

Because the last government shutdown was so successful, right? These conservatives never learn.

    • Posted by nexus1g, at Reply

It worked well in the 90’s, Hal. The Republicans of that time shut down the government for ages until Clinton presented a balanced budget that even actually had a surplus. Not sure what happened since then.

    • Posted by orlock20, at Reply

The compromise froze spending for years. That was a win for economic conservatives.

    • Posted by nexus1g, at Reply

orlock, I think it’s better than being in so much debt as we are today.

    • Posted by LeftistsAreJustWeakPeople, at Reply

One year after the government shutdown, the Republicans won the Senate and kept the house. I think that’s very successful.

How do Westerners feel, knowing that they come from the most intellectually and morally inferior cultures on Earth? How do people from the US and Europe feel, coming from a culture that leads the world in rape (despite all the “feminism” and “progressivism”), pedophilia (which is legalised and promoted by people like Todd Nickerson), the sexualisation of children (feminism at work again), atheism, amorality, murder, mass shootings, and drug crime? Don’t they feel ashamed? Do they contemplate suicide for being so culturally broken, and being a part of one of the worst places to live?

    • Posted by Infinite Sheldon, at Reply

“it’s YOUR party that would cause the shut down” Their party is the GOP? Because the GOP is in control of the Oval Office, House AND Senate. If it shuts down, it’s on the GOP for being unable to govern.

I’m a member of the NRA and I enjoy and own many firearms. I know I’m probably not representative of a lot of other NRA members, but there are a lot like me as well, and I go shooting with them pretty often.

I don’t want that wall if it’s free. I don’t want that wall if we are given money for doing it. A wall is just a terrible idea. I also want medicare for all, climate change to be our #1 concern, increases in the budgets of everything trump is cutting, and immigration reform in the way of making it easier for new Americans to enter from whatever nation they happen to be born in.

I don’t believe in religion, I don’t like religion, and it should have no place in policy, but we shouldn’t be discriminating against people based on which of the fake sky daddies they believe in. People are people, and we should be caring about each other, not hating each other. Republicans just seem to be full of hate for anything different from themselves, and for science and intelligent thought. Who wants a world of a bunch of people who are stupid, and all the same. I like diversity, it makes life interesting.

Lots of liberals have guns these days (much to the horror of conservatives) I don’t think that a lot of them support the nra though. lol

    • Posted by Snarky Edmonton Cyclist, at Reply

The NRA is way too radical for me. The laws about guns broadly is not having fully automatic guns, 10 rounds/mag/clip, needing a defined threat to just carry a firearm around in public, having a license and background check to own a gun and supervision by someone with a license or being licensed yourself to use one, and having a secure place to store the gun, whether it’s in the car or home. There will of course be finer points to these, but not all leftists are like California, and in fact it’s easier to get and use an AR-15 in the country I live in than California, probably even more so with the background check because criminal records irrelevant to firearm safety, like a marijuana possession charge at the age of 19, will not affect your gun eligibility.

I would allow tasers and pepper spray to be carried by those who have had a background check and is driving age or above, with the person selling said device being required to train the purchaser. That’s even more libertarian than Canada does and by nearly all other measures I’m a hard leftist.

How is it a thing a that the government is allowed to shut down? If we decided to “shut down” by not paying our taxes, we’d be thrown in prison.
