No they aren’t, the water comes from rainfall and snowfall in California’s
mountains. At best you can make the claim that we share some of it with
      Nevada.

    • Posted by TJ (Shadowkire), at Reply

+A Rogue Chihuahua Actually I have found out where you idiots have been
      mistaken about this:
      1) You conflate southern California(Los Angeles region) with the entirety
      of California.
      2) You fail to realize that the Colorado River forms the border of
California and Arizona, so we have direct access to it. Therefore it is not
      importing.
      3) The Colorado River only supplies about half of southern California’s
water. Which is pretty pathetic: half of a desert region’s water.
      4) We can easily ween off of the river if we outlawed lawns in southern
      California
5)We don’t grow food in southern California either.

I fully support this. California is probably the most progressive state and
it would be amazing if it became its own nation. I’d move there
immediately, if I weren’t concerned about scientists predicting the next
big earthquake could happen very soon, or that Yellowstone could go up. If
Yellowstone blows, the safest place would be on the east coast. Seeing as
the magma pressure under Yellowstone has been rising lately and scientists
believe we’re overdue for an eruption, I want to stay as far away as

+Hypnotic Synopsis I googled “california out of state water” and
“california water imports”, and found nothing. What keywords should I use
      to find the information?

Or maybe I am misinterpreting the information I am seeing? Where do you say
we are getting the out-of-state water?

    • Posted by Hypnotic Synopsis, at Reply

+TJ Google “Where does California get its water during droughts”

    • Posted by TJ (Shadowkire), at Reply

+Hypnotic Synopsis The Colorado river forms the border between California
and Arizona. We have direct access to the river. It is not imported. Also
that only covers half of the water of southern California(the desert region
+ LA). And that is during a drought.

Assuming California was blocked from getting that water we could outlaw
lawns in SoCal and stop growing the crops we have been exporting to other
states. The result would be California having more than enough water and
the US in famine. I think we will do just fine.

  13. Posted by José Guzman, at Reply

I don’t think Californians realize what the ramifications of leaving would
be. do they even realize that the majority of their water comes from out of
    state?

+Konstantin Krastev insult me, then try to make a point. You realize
Hollywood would have no power right?

    • Posted by CNN is fake news, at Reply

We will not be trading with rump Ca if it left. Most of your counties would
choose to say in US. You’d be left a little strip of ocean front property.

    • Posted by TJ (Shadowkire), at Reply

+José Guzman The Colorado River forms the border between California and
Arizona. We have direct access to it. That isn’t importing.
It also only provides half of southern California’s water during this
drought. Half of a desert-in-drought’s water.

If the US blocked us from that water we could just ban lawns and stop
watering the many many crops we export to feed the other states. The result
is all parts of California having more than enough water(even in drought)
      and the US in famine.

The national government is essentially an imperialistic power ruling over
several regions that should be their own sovereign states. What we have now
is a system where every 4 years, the two most powerful influential regions
attempt to take control of all the rest. I suggest neutering the national
      government.

This should happen. The US is way too disfunctionnal as it is. It’s like
many country rolled up into one and it’s part of why nothing can get done.
There no reason for California to keep dragging the assbackward southern
state or to let itself be bogged down by the widespread corruption.

    • Posted by Lefty two guns, at Reply

The reason nothing gets done is because of too many cultures in one
      country, not geography.

    • Posted by ToxicAudri, at Reply

      +Lefty two guns

And that’s part of geography, the cultures of the southern states are
vastly different then the culture in California, the bible belt really
proves this, California doesn’t have a huge issue with laws that law makers
attempt to get passed or do get passed that have a clear religious agenda
behind them, mainly because California doesn’t have a super religious
culture pushing it unlike the bible belt.

California is very unique, a wide range of diverse cultures and people
exist in California and things can actually get done, as California proves
quite well, I would argue this is because California is so large and very
open minded overall, this vs the bible belt being very rigid and opposed to
diverse cultures and people, mostly for religious reasons, assuming a
secession is successful California can show in actual practice just what
could get done with plenty of different cultures and people existing in the
same place, something our government can’t or won’t do because there isn’t
any monetary gain involved, this would prove beyond a doubt to everyone
that the US government is incompetent either because of corruption or just
stupid partisan politics, maybe a bit of both.

      do-nothing Congress by executive order.

What’s particularly onerous about what CONgress did was that Obama tried
