another site explain what a bigot is and is not. a bigot is not a racist. a bigot can be intolerant of a race but that is not hurting anyone. that bigot is not going out and killing anyone and if that bigot starts doing more they will start being a racist or be discriminating against someone.

now what are you guys advocating to do to this man? dont let him go on with his life, ruining his wealth because of it.

at the very least you are advocating bigotry or discrimination.

someone did something you did not like? well fix it. dont turn into bigots yourselves. their is no reason to ruin someones life for doing what he figured was right. right or wrong. if you just ignore the issue and try and ruin his life your being bigots or worse.

    • Posted by jmitterii2, at Reply

To be be precise, Hillary wasn’t really a democrat or liberal, she’s essentially a right winger in liberal clothes. So it’s not to surprising an actual liberal democrat would be a right winger.

    • Posted by sonicpsycho13, at Reply

Clinton lost in NC. Part of McCrory’s loss was also due to his extreme corruption concerning vetoing every bill that would have obligated Duke Energy to clean up the coal ash they’ve dumped into the state’s waterways, while being in the pocket of D.E. He also significantly reduced education spending, dropping the state’s education ranking to the bottom 10th percentile.

HB2, the “bathroom bill”, also tried to completely override the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Why do conservatives think that their free speech means that they’re also free from consequences?

    • Posted by Dictator In Perpetuity, at Reply

this guy is a former governor .. who used his power to pass a discriminatory legislation, he did this in his public official role, not just as a private citizen. He did under the hat of a public democratic institution, in fact the most important one in his state. Nobody is saying he should not get a job …
He is just not finding one, because he is well known publicly for his hate toward gays and transgenders, that he is a liability to any business who would hire him.

IN other words, he has a bad resume.
      That’s all.

    • Posted by ADISA SEC, at Reply

And I denounce every single policy that he’s passed concerning LGBTQ rights because they discriminate against a targeted groups of individuals. I think that public officials or anyone occupying a high economic/political staus should be denied the right to discriminate against anyone because their influence spans so many lives. I also say the same is applicable to McCrory. I don’t think his homophobic beliefs is reason enough to disregard his resume, as long as it’s detached from influence. Make it the law not to discriminate, don’t foster an environment that will just incite resentment among an already bigoted group of people.

Why is it that none of these conservative idiots know the difference between sex and gender? Sex is your body parts; Gender is how you behave. There’s a reason there are two different words. A doctor can’t tell what a baby’s gender expression will eventually be, but they can certainly tell you of their male or female.

    • Posted by net28573, at Reply

      Tom Anderson
Think back to all of the forms you had to fill out. I’ve never seen a medical form ask for my “gender”, only my sex.

The older generations didn’t want to use the word sex (omg don’t say sex it makes me uncomfortable) so they jumped to using gender. Doesn’t it sound so *gentle*? Today’s generation is redacting the previous changes that were made because they cause too much confusion.

    • Posted by Dr tonni, at Reply

      Delai420 BillyRipper yup

    • Posted by Ethan Davidson, at Reply

They general just glance between the legs. They don’t do chromosone tests, which might reveal that the baby is intersexed. And of course, when the baby grows older and sees specialists in transsexuals, rather than birthing, those doctors may determine that the person has gender dysphoria, and recommend a gradual program of counseling and hormone therapy, likely leading eventuauly to sex change surugery. (Or not, if the person does not want to.) Anyway, this guy grossly oversimplifies the topic, because he does not know anything about it.

  7. Posted by Kaelyzz, at Reply

This whole gender thing is such a non-issue.

    • Posted by Erin Gagnon, at Reply

Áine Your confusing gender identity with gender roles. Yes gender roles are social constructs, but gender identity is rooted in your brain development. The brain is a sexed organ, who’s development can be altered if certain androgens (ie. testosterone) aren’t present in the correct amounts. Transgender individuals have brains that look more like the gender they identify with, rather than their assigned ones. It’s a body mapping issue. Transgender brains expect your body to be a certain way, and when it isn’t you get gender dysphoria (distress). Transitioning is to alleviate that stress, which left unchecked leads to depression and often suicide. So… no it’s not just a social construct. Source: I’m trans.

    • Posted by Áine, at Reply

+Erin Gagnon I’m aware of that, I’m just pointing out that conservatives say that gender isn’t important for different reasons (i.e. they aren’t aware of how an individual’s life experience is different because their gender expression/performance is obvious or unconventional, thus they don’t think it’s important because they’re not trans), while gender is indeed not important not for the reasons that conservatives think, but because, even though it’s definitely a thing, it’s not as set in stone as we’ve been told to believe in such a binary and arbitrary way for the majority of history. I’m sorry if my comment came across as deligitimising trans experience, that wasn’t my intention.

  11. Posted by afropoppette, at Reply

What’s not addressed is the difference between gender and sex. Gender is based on society’s terms of what a boy and what a girl typically does. Sex has to do with what parts one has (or changes).

I saw that documentary that you mention, and NOWHERE do any of the children featured, say that they were trans due to getting the idea from t.v.

You clearly are also ignorant of those that are intersex, where nature does mess up genetically, by children being born with an unequal ratio of balance between the x and y chromozones

It is also laughable that you think and fear that your child will immediately decide to become trans, after seeing information about trans on the t.v.

      Seriously, get educated!

+The spclflash So you have reversed your earlier position that sex and gender is the same thing?

If so… i think we are in agreement here.

    • Posted by battletankbob, at Reply

The spclflash okay, I can understand that. though you do recognize in your other examples of butch and feminine homosexuals as an outlier, yeah? as best as i, a white hetero male man, can understand it all what I figure is those who say there are more genders are, I guess, trying to put a name to that other, to name instances of the butch lesbian. “butch lesbian” might be offensive as its used derogatory (not saying that’s how you’re using it here) plus it’s more of a descriptive term than a proper name or title. so I guess the want to identify ones self comes into play there making this apparent recent development of bunch of different genders, if that makes sense. you can be super masculine so you’re a male gender, right? but what do you call a guy who’s not feminine but not 100% masculine either? it’s like a sliding scale or spectrum of masculine to feminine in a sense, yeah? I guess people want to label each point on that scale. so if conpare it to ,like, color you have red or blue but you also have scarlet, ruby, violet, etc. they’re still red or blue from one perspective, but they also have particular shades with crazy names.

of course this is just the idea of it all that I’ve picked up on. I could be totally wrong and not really get it. but I see where you’re coming from and see the potential of a common ground understanding, don’t you?

Homophobia is ridiculous in 2017, but so is the notion of sex and gender being separate things. Using common sense doesn’t make you a bigot. Gender restrooms are unnecessary, and we should just have restrooms for whomever needs to use them. These issues are petty.

    • Posted by Kimmy, at Reply

+charlie edgars Transphobia is just as ridiculous honestly. For almost a century now psychiatrists tried to ‘cure’ transness through therapy, but it just didn’t work. Eventually psychiatrists said “fine just support them in being who they want to be” and that actually worked. Psychiatry and neuroscience agrees with transgender people.
