Find out more here:

" Turns out it's simple for a Democratic legislature to pass single-payer under a Republican Guv, yet despite having a Democrat in workplace, it's success is far from guaranteed. So an immediate job for supporters is to encourage Gov. Jerry Brown that now is the time.

What's different now? Initially, whatever form ACA "repeal and change" inevitably takes, Californians are not going to let Democrats just criticize the GOP when Democrats manage all branches of federal government below. Neither need to they. If the ACA was a compromise with national political pressures, there's no reason The golden state need to simply attempt to patch it up after it's taken down. Neither would it be easy to ask those that presently have health care advantages to totally pay for any kind of loss of insurance coverage they might suffer in the wake of GOP-led health and wellness reform. From a policy viewpoint, the complexity of the ACA's financing as well as expansion of insurance coverage could be changed by the less complex system of single-payer, which accomplishes better price financial savings and also more comprehensive client selection, while maintaining extensive advantages." *.

No. Cuba’s system covers more people and care is more efficient. Cuba spends less as a hard value, as well as pencent of GPD.
Citizens are healthier in every democraphic group (children, adults and elderly).
Specially for kids, Cuba’s healthcare is light years ahead of the US.

It’s OUR money, dumbass. That’s what taxes are. It’s not someone else’s money, it’s OUR money, our COUNTRY’S money. It should be used to actually HELP us.

Then please explain how current insurance companies that have ot make a profit stay afloat , Whereas single payer doesn’t have to pay a few hundred million dollars because the CEO wants a new mansion or yacht . Oh and Remember you fund it through taxes and it REPLACES private insurance so everyone saves money because its funded through taxes you won’t even feel . and you won’t have to spend hundreds of thousands when you do get sick or need medicine . Remember anyone Can get hurt to the point of hospitalization at any time. no matter how healthy or young you may or may not be .
I honestly don’t think it sinks in to conservatives that single payer would replace their insurance and they WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY OUT FOR IT MONTHLY . on top of single payer . Any argument against it is just factually wrong . CHINA with over a billion people can have single payer .if they can afford it we can as the wealthiest nation in the world with a population of only 334mil

    The target democratic voter?

    • Posted by Mark Broadhurst, at Reply

Qinby 1 yes however when $100 billion every year (plus all the people that will come from other states) becomes unsustainable and the money goes back down, so too does the money for education.
Of course cali pays about $369bn in taxes and gets about $356bn from the federal government. So you would have to give up about 1/3 of your current spending that’s education, police, fire, road maintenance, trash removal, etc, etc.
What do you want to give up for this to work? apparently education….

    • Posted by Qinby 1, at Reply

Mark Broadhurst+ Regarding “every body” will move to California, do not think that is an issue and in any case not an argument for not doing single payer. I guess you could say, we cant improve the health care system since then people wont die at the same rate and that will bankrupt us with more unemployment and more pensions. Also  it would depend on who moved, a lot of health care is paid Federally so that would increase AND the “plan” is that if California do this it will become a Federal system.Do not really understand what you mean by “giving up 1/3 of current spending”. YOU ARE NOT GIVING ANYTHING UP, YOU INCREASE THE BUDGET WITH 100 BILL.. In short: Instead of paying insurance premiums (big save for larger corporations) you introduce a tax on these corporations to raise the bulk of the 100 bill, these company’s will still save 1%-4% by not having to provide health care to employees. Since single payer is much more efficient than the profit driven insurance company’s (in many cases 50%) you can afford to increase coverage to everybody and still save on the total amount spent. Only ones losing out is private insurance, people will have more money in pocket and that will promote some growth as well.

    • Posted by Mark Broadhurst, at Reply

Qinby 1 SUPRISE Lefties support *more taxes* your figure of 100 Billion is actually quite optimistic the figure they are putting out is 200 billion or half what you currently spend.
Anyone working for the state would be out of a job since you cannot increase taxes by 50% and expect people to pay it. The poorest among us cannot afford the current levels of taxes and you want to make it 50% worse. Have you no heart?
People who want to exploit the system will live near Cali and pop in for the free healthcare not pay the taxes and get the free healthcare since you are supporting Illegal immigrants how pay very little in to the system to start with and cost the system a lot more.

We will have to stop calling it California and instead call it new Venezuela

    • Posted by Qinby 1, at Reply

Mark Broadhurst+ You really don”t understand this?? Do you just make stuff up?? Regarding numbers state your source, link to one source At the moment government/state already pay 70% of Calif. health care. Total cost for state 270 Bill, single payer around 370 bill. Majority of the around 100 bill needed will be paid by “big business”, these 100 bill is less than what these “big business” already pay in health insurance SO THEY WILL SAVE MONEY AND IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO EMPLOY PEOPLE. All this “Psychobabble” about 50% tax hikes?? You should really get of those pills. The REALLY EASY WAY TO THINK ABOUT IT. The US health care does not cover everybody since everybody cant afford insurance/deductibles etc. BUT everybody can go to the ER, EVEN UNINSURED. OFCOURSE somebody has to pay for this. This is done by raising the premiums on insurance i.e. insured people pay for uninsured people “This is Communism” (this is a Republican talking point). Receiving healthcare via the ER is expensive. The system has to change. The rest of the world use Single payer in different forms so it is proven to work. The US pays 100% more /Capita than many AND IT DOES NOT COVER EVERYBODY AND GET WORSE RESULTS. Conclusion CHANGE TO A PROVEN WORKING SYSTEM AND IMPROVE RESULTS AND SAVE MONEY.  Healthcare costs   THIS IS A NO BRAINER

Single-payer system is a communist system.

    • Posted by Aaron Loyd, at Reply

Every industrialized country on the planet other than us has a single-payer system. And ALL of them pay less for better healthcare.

    • Posted by GoldenHairAngel, at Reply

So every industrialized country on the planet other than us is using a communist health care system.

    • Posted by Outlaw7502, at Reply

Yeah, and it works great. I’m not a communist, but in this case, everyone paying taxes and benefitting from it is great. I live in the UK, and if our government even hinted at getting rid of our NHS, they’d be voted out immediately. Our CONSERVATIVE government supports our NHS.

    • Posted by Qinby 1, at Reply

You should be vigilant they will try to defund it and the based on “it doesnt work” Privatize it

  16. Posted by Mike, at Reply

This is stupid. Single payer results in government bureaucrats (not doctors or patients) deciding what procedures are medically necessary. Longer waits. Lower quality. Higher taxes.

    • Posted by Outlaw7502, at Reply

Not really. I live in the UK, and if the government even hinted at getting rid of our NHS, we’d be up in arms. Yeah, we pay a little more in taxes and have slightly longer waiting times (even this is dependant on the area you live in), but in return we don’t get in ridiculous amounts of debt, and everything is essentially free.

At the end of the day, would you rather have a democratically elected government looking after you, or a group of private corporations that don’t care about you, but care about maximising profit?

    • Posted by Wholesome XX, at Reply

Outlaw7502 bs! Once you take competition out of the picture, complacent sets in. It becomes one big, slow bureaucratic mess…

The Prodigal Champ we have a deficit because all our taxes go to Red States to keep their population fed and scared of immigrants.

    • Posted by The Prodigal Champ, at Reply

M A 1 You don’t know what a deficit is so shuddup! 2 The reason red states are more on social programs is because of idiot policies like NAFTA by the Blue election politicains that have stripped the industry sector of middle America! It’s not like Red states woke up one morning and became meth smoking rubes all of a sudden! 😂😂😂😂

    • Posted by Outlaw7502, at Reply

Well, the red states are less prosperous and Republican, and the blue states are more prosperous and Democratic. The vast majority of big, bustling cities and tourist attractions are in blue states. Notice a correlation?

Pay for your own healthcare you greedy liberal bastards

    • Posted by AIReject, at Reply

So you pay full price for all your medical procedures? Or do you pay into a system that others also pay into so you all contribute for when you need it? Because whether it’s government or an insurance provider, no one truly pays for their own healthcare completely unless there are people who are both very rich and yet so stupid they don’t have decent insurance.
