Voters appeared to elect against the Trump program as well as gave Democrats a historical win. John Iadarola, Jimmy Dore, as well as Ron Placone, the hosts of The Young Turks, simplify. Inform us just what you assume in the remark area listed below. Sign up with TYT:

" Democratic candidates for the Virginia Home of Delegates won greater than 220,000 more votes than their Republican equivalents. Democrats won the two-party competition with Republicans by more than 9 percent points. Nevertheless, Republicans may still keep control of Virginia's lower home, mostly because of gerrymandering.

Prior to the political election, Republicans appreciated a 66-34 supermajority in the House of Delegates. Since this writing, Democrats grabbed 15 of the 17 seats they need to reclaim the majority. 3 seats, all currently held by Republicans, are presently too close to call. One Republican delegate, David Yancey, presently holds a 12 vote lead over his Democratic opponent Shelly Simonds.

When all the votes are counted, to puts it simply, the result will certainly be either a very narrow GOP majority, an extremely narrow Autonomous majority, or a connected legislature– despite the fact that Autonomous candidates outmatched Republican politicians by regarding 9.4 percent points.

ThinkProgress computed this figure making use of informal ballot counts published by the Virginia Division of Elections– the final numbers will certainly change a little as provisional ballots are counted and also as some tallies are recounted. You can check our job right here."

TYT are killing it tonight! The naked emperor should have stuck to his mindless reality TV and other forms of anti intellectual smut. As POTUS the world is watching and he won’t be able to get away with what he could as a private citizen.

So much winning! I am tired of winning. My head is spinning. Please Mr. Trump, stop winning. We cannot take it anymore.

      ITS TOO MUCH WINNING!!!

    • Posted by Listenbuddy1, at Reply

This week’s ABC/WP poll has Trump WINNING again over Hillary if the election was held again a year later, even after the beating he takes in the lib media, so you’re correct. The Democrats are still in BIG trouble.

Republicans have been benefiting from low voter turnout and gerrymandering for a long time, but Trump will be the rock bottom Americans need to wake up and get involved. This election is CLEARLY a referendum on Trump, and the right wing extremists who have taken control of the government since 2010.

  8. Posted by Whytebio, at Reply

So the three prior “Referendums on Trump!” don’t mean anything because dems lost, but now it means something cos they won? Dems won because there are 41% registered Democrats in Virginia and 30% registered Republicans. But, who am I to tell Democrats when they’re greatly over-estimating their chances…it’s not like they haven’t done that recently…

Feel like Republicans who have hitched their wagons to Trump and his agenda are getting nervous… As soon as Trump is no longer useful in getting them re-elected or lowering their taxes the narrative will change and move towards removing trump and installing Pence.

    • Posted by Hazzycakes, at Reply

And then the investigation implicates Pence and he gets removed. Then the same for Ryan. Hello President Orrin Hatch.

    • Posted by Mike C, at Reply

Like that is not already the agenda…

The Democratic Party needs to start embracing the progressive policies that favor its base, the working class and People of Color. It should not be fooled into believing that these recent victories mean that its base has been satisfied. We want progressive economic policies to that allow more of us into the middle class. – @CitizenPierre

    • Posted by Retired Stein Koffman, at Reply

      Josue Pierre what middle class?

    • Posted by Hazzycakes, at Reply

While the bigger offices weren’t progressive candidates, a lot of the lower level ones were. There is a progressive movement happening.

    • Posted by Mike C, at Reply

Josue Pierre that is a very far away goal….
      IDT it’s even possible anymore….

    • Posted by Davies Duale, at Reply

Josue Pierre It can’t have progressive policies until Hillary Clinton supporters leave the DNC.

This is just the beginning, you have to have faith that by next year we’ll be happier with the ballot and results. People need to get out there and vote. Corruption keeps getting exposed on both sides. Hopefully this is the wake up call that’s been needed and this is just the beginning of major change.

If you want to fix gerrymandering, change election law so that parties with more seats than their proportion of votes have to concede the excess number of seats they won. That way, there is next to no benefit to it. Use ranked voting to pick the next winner for each conceded seat and prevent candidates from winning through opposition dilution.

They need to get rid of gerrymandering so it doesn’t favour either party period .

    • Posted by Eddie Brock, at Reply

That would be too much like right. Allowing the controlling party to draw district lines is an inherent self-fulfilling prophecy.

    • Posted by Eddie Brock, at Reply

They need to get money out of politics too.

    • Posted by Elijah Bailey, at Reply

edward woods well then you’d have to disband the electoral college.

Gerrymandering is as un-american as it gets and that’s why it’s proponents are undemocratic, anti-freedom, & against the moral fabric of what America stands for. The LAST thing they are is patriotic……
