" In this commercial northwest Indiana city, thousands of family members that live in a gated public real estate community with prissy yards and also a new primary school following door are searching for brand-new residences. Their own areas have actually been marked for demolition.

The institution, temporarily closed, has been taken over by the Epa and health authorities who offer complimentary blood tests to check locals for lead poisoning. Long after the U.S. lead sector left East Chicago, a harmful heritage remains. Smokestacks at one smelter next door, shuttered 31 years ago, for years polluted these grounds.

Emissions from the now-defunct U.S. Smelter and also Lead Refinery Inc, or USS Lead, left a potent danger in the soil. By early this year, the EPA found focus of the heavy steel so high in some backyards that they could pose a serious health danger to families at the West Calumet Real estate Complicated. No, too much pollution in it. Won’t touch it. I’ll only drink bottled
distilled water. It’s better for my diabetes.

Keith Brooks – only problem is, lead can be absorbed through the skin over
time. Bathing in it for many years could still give you lead poisoning.

This level of neglect seems like purposeful eugenics to me. Building
low-income housing on top of a lead plant, seriously? This seems like it’s
deliberately meant to kill off segments of the population. Disgusting.

Or it is just people want to make money, so they build houses that they can

I live in Bismarck, ND and I had to stop drinking the water at work because
it was making me sick. I got a water filter at home, so I don’t know if it
is the water in general or just the water in the building at work.

Heated water is never clear. How is this news?

    • Posted by George Laidlaw, at Reply

Really… cause here in the UK boiled water is always clear and colourless.
Because water is clear and colourless until you add something to it that is
opaque or coloured. If your water turns cloudy when heated, the heat is
forcing a solute to preciptate out (unusual but some solutes do become less
soluble with heat). That solute is most likely harmless but may not be. You
should check with the relevant local authorities to see if your supply is
safe to drink without being run through a water filter first and even then
you may want to consider a filter.

Heated water out of the sink of course shouldn’t look like this, but I can
guarantee you, that even in the UK heated water has a slightly milky look
      to it.

The reason why this looks to moody is because it was taken from the bottom
of the water heater, where all the sediments are left behind. If you don’t
clean your water heater on a regular basis, every water from the bottom
will look like this after two years, that’s why the water is normally taken
from the top, where it’s not contaminated by the sediments.

    • Posted by George Laidlaw, at Reply

Umm… no it doesn’t. You can see straight through it. Heating water does
not turn it cloudy. You are right that sediments will collect at the bottom
of the heater. However, that does not mean those sediments are safe.

Oh… worth noting the UK does not seperate drinking and non-drinking
supplies. All water (bar certain exceptions in rural areas that must be
clearly signposted by law) is drinking quality. It is possible US hot water
supplies contain more contaminants than they would in the US if hot water
      is not drinking quality.

LOL LOL LOL Thats nothing. I have a video on my channel I shared to prove
that the water is horrible everywhere (like this video) and it was darker
as it came from the tap!! I’m glad he is doing this but that is not even
the tip of the iceberg. Water heater build up , how cute. lol

  17. Posted by julien hunt, at Reply

Most unscientific news piece. I’m not going to argue the water quality
issues, but you are literally sampling from a sediment catch. Drain from
any boiler with the best water will likely have similar results.
