He is a mediocre quarterback who is bad for business because the fans don’t like him. They don’t like him because no one likes having some guy preach to them about how oppressed he is while having a net worth of $22 million.

I have more money than the average white guy makes his in entire life but those evil whites are keeping me down!

    • Posted by dangerouslytalented, at Reply

The fans don’t like him? You don’t know how sport works do you?
      1) get a divisive player like Kaepernick, where half the crowd loves him, half hates him.
      2) gate attendance goes up, as half the crowd go to support the divisive player or to cheer on the opposition, and merchandise sales skyrocket as his shirt gets sold to his supporters more and more
      3) profit.

Ever wonder why mediocre teams hire flashy but mediocre players? That’s why. So even if he is mediocre, it’s no excuse.

I agree with everyone having the right to free speech but when I see people comparing Nazis to Colin K… cmon … really??? I dont get your “reasoning.” If you are all not racist, why defend Nazis. What is it that you are REALLY saying? You approve of their message? You stand for free speech but beyond that, what is it that you really stand for? Didnt we fight them in a war? And win! Still you defend these guys???

cuiet16 people come to the defense of Nazis because they feel they should have a right to have their rally without being assaulted. Sure they can counter protest but there should not be mobs of masked men with weapons and shields assaulting other people. But if you said that to someone they would accuse you of supporting Nazis! It’s ridiculous! There are a tiny number of Nazis and white supremacists and they aren’t even welcome at rallies for the right.

Michael Robertson he did his job and was a better quarterback than most in the nfl…standing for the national anthem is not a job requirement. Him not standing for the treatment of ppl of color who by the way make up 80% of the league is totally justified but most white ppl cant stand to see a black man stand for up for himself and his ppl. They just want us to keep them entertained and stay in you place.

Funny thing, American history isn’t just repeating itself, its just a continuation of the same racial issues that haven’t been resolved since slavery. Trying to sweep these issues under the carpet, isn’t going to work. Name one black activist or leader that wasn’t labeled something negative or feared by a pocket of white America. Heck, even Muhammad Ali and Dr. Martin Luther King were considered radicals and enemies of the state. Kaepernick is far more of a leader than Trump, and far more compassionate.

    • Posted by miapdx Portland, at Reply

Cee Montana Yes, Colin is brave, taking a stand against injustice. Whereas trump stands for injustice.

The biggest concern regarding Kaepernick and what the NFL is doing to him is how quiet the Players Union is on this, by staying quiet they are basically saying its okay for the NFL Brass to do this again and again on anyone who has the guts to express his personnel opinion in an open forum. The players union should be ashamed of itself, you expect some of the money grubbing owners to be this ignorant and pig headed to ruin a mans career over something which at best should of been a page 6 article but the players union is supposed to speak and represent the players there is no excuse for their silence and lack of representation for Kaepernick.

    • Posted by nitrampd, at Reply

As a union man myself, I thought the Players’ Union should have been supporting its membership with vigour. As far as free speech is concerned; free speech does not grant the right to discriminate. One’s right to freedom of speech does not supersede another’s right to equality. I would suggest that the NFL owners are guilty of collusion as well as discrimination. All of it is shameful and I have a difficult time believing that this issue and others continue to plague all of us, everywhere. I fear there is something sinister at work that goes well beyond anything we see on the news. Hope I don’t offend anyone. Just looking at things rationally.

    • Posted by Greg Torrez, at Reply

Why doesn’t TYT use that 20 mil that just got handed to them to hire Kaepernick if they are so concerned about his employment prospects? If they don’t, we’ll just call them ‘racists’ like they do with everybody they disagree with.

    • Posted by gyice, at Reply

Very Deep, the fact that they are simply bringing up the obvious makes them in your mind somehow responsible for the outcome. Then all news agencies that report on any story should be responsible for ensuring they can address the outcome, why hasn’t CNN and Msnbc stopped the flooding in Houston they reported it? if they don’t we should just call them Flood supporters. They also reported on the Missile that North Korea just fired across Japan, why haven’t they stopped North korea? if they don’t we should lets everyone know they are obvious supporter of Kim and the North Korean agenda.

    • Posted by nitrampd, at Reply

I don’t understand your reasoning Greg. TYT, whether you like them or not, whether you like how they report the news or not, has nothing to do with the events by which they report. They are simply reporting a continuing saga of institutional discrimination.

I understand why people have a visceral dislike of TYT. They employ many of the same modern techniques used by most large U.S. news broadcasters including the use of sensationalism, hyperbole, and the interjection of opinionated commentary. To top it off, they seem to take a social justice slant to things and that makes some people very uncomfortable. Social justice calls into question a lot of our own core beliefs. Even the most pious can be rocked to their foundations when they allow themselves to see that some of their most cherished beliefs actually contribute to the continued discrimination of another. Of course, a person has to have empathy to see how their world view affects another.

I don’t like the news reported to me in any way other than substantiated fact. However, I like TYT because they seem to seek social justice. I’m not afraid to have my world view challenged and changed.

Why do US people have a need to divide themselves up? Use words like liberal and conservative? And to further divide among the group with words like far right and moderate? Do you mean that if you identify yourself to be a certain group you would agree with that group 100% and let the group dictate your thinking?

Why don’t you guys try respectful and mind your own business! It’s the best business in the world.

    • Posted by nameis2, at Reply

Nobody Anybody Moderates are the people who choose a party but decides on their own base on ideals & such but leans more toward 1 party. While the rest tends to just follow a party blindly, that’s the different from the far right & far left to the Moderates

    • Posted by Big T. Larrity, at Reply

Nobody Anybody Because we’re not all the same, we don’t want the same things, and it’s a hell of a lot easier to give somebody a label that most suits them than listing every little thing they believe. When I say I’m a liberal then you know that I’m anti-racist, pro-environment, and just an overall well rounded and mentally sound person, and of course the opposite is true for those that identify as conservative.

Do Americans realise how crazy it seems to everywhere else (that is not under a dictatorship) that you HAVE TO pledge allegiance to A FLAG every day at school, and then throughout the rest of your life at sports events and other things. This is insane!
No one has any freedom in your country, you are taught to forget your freedom every day you are FORCED TO make oaths to a flag and to a nation.
I know you a lot of you find this reassuring or whatever, but to the rest of us you appear like the Borg, blindly willing to do anything you’re told, mistakenly thinking you are free.
