" Exposure to lead as a kid could affect an adult decades later, according to a research study out Tuesday that recommends a web link in between early childhood lead exposure and a dip in an individual's later cognitive ability as well as socioeconomic status.

Lead in the USA can originate from lots of sources: old, peeling paint; contaminated dirt; or water that's gone through lead pipes. Before plans were passed to get eliminate lead in fuel, it could even come from fragments in the fumes that leave cars and truck tailpipes.

And when lead enters a human body, it can tinker brain growth, decades of research study has actually revealed.

" It's toxic to several components of the body, however in particular in can gather in the blood stream and go through the blood brain obstacle to reach the brain," claims the research's very first writer, Aaron Sandwich, a graduate student in clinical psychology at Duke University."

Conservatives are right. Regulations, taxes and tariffs mean less trade – that doesn’t just hurt “big business” that benefits them at the expense of small business and ordinary people – in this instance it’s a perfectly good idea to draw back your economic prospects for greater health protections. However this weird left-wing economic policy invented entirely in the echo chamber of a few ‘progressives’ with no understanding of economics, where you put up costs for willing customs, where you increase restrictions of trade and close your markets off to greater competition is nonsense.

It’s not going to boost your economy. No economist would take that seriously. You have to be honest, you’re sacrificing economic growth for something else. Fine, make that case we can have that argument but don’t mislead people into believing something that isn’t true.

    • Posted by Andrew Wells, at Reply

*ron hillbilly* Capitalism isn’t trickle down economics. No fiscal Conservative believes in trickle down economics. This is an out right lie pushed by the ‘progressive’ left, they believe in a free market which is the exact opposite.

*J Hijinks* Well you wrote an insightful comment but its been auto-spammed and I can’t retrieve it. Nevertheless I think you’ve misunderstood what I’ve said in part. Yes, regulations do help with protecting your citizens against pollution – that comes at the expense of some economic prosperity – *However* I’m okay with that. I agree in that instance, regulations are the moral and (net) beneficial thing to do but we must acknowledge what is going on here (we are giving up economic growth for health benefits) because most regulations go above and far beyond environmental protections.

    • Posted by J Hijinks, at Reply

Andrew Wells. All true. I guess I read into your original comment too much. I hear all too often the negative side of regulations being the focal point for most discussion.

We have many regulations created by our crony capitalist corporatists that do stifle competition because the regulations protect established business interests and the large political donors.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I only look to shift the conversation away from the demagogue of regulations are always bad.

You don’t need to regulate lead to make kids smarter. Ban all the ADHD pills, ban the opioids, get rid of the porn, get rid of all the low-IQ, sexualised, empty trash they watch on TV, prevent the entertainment industry from making movies and music that encourage kids to do drugs, be promiscuious, and worship degenerate, addle-brained celebrities, stop creating a popular culture where stupidity is worshipped, get rid of all the obesity, and stop raising children with iPads and smartphones, and you will have smarter children.

People in the Victorian era had IQ points 14 points higher than today. Maybe we should emulate them.

    • Posted by Ian Hardin, at Reply

Yes, if you COMPLETELY change our society in EVERY SINGLE WAY, you could… get to keep lead in your paints and stuff? QWERTY 123, what the hell are you talking about?! Can’t we do all of that stuff (which, by the way, would require MASSIVE regulation of almost EVERY INDUSTRY in America), and ALSO regulate lead, getting it out of our air and water?

I have a theory that our whole country is slightly insane because of this. what else explains a 12 year old playing with a you gun being shot by a police officer before the car even stops

    • Posted by Kenneth Martin: homeless in Houston, at Reply

SupaDr00g you know killing people for whatever reason isn’t cool right? I’ll even defend the young man in broken arrow, Oklahoma who just recently slew three armed Intruders into his home. he defended his self and his home and he is very uncomfortable about the end result. you can hear his distress in the 911 call. he is not happy about taking three lives, but yet you stand ready to slay someone who reports say had a FAKE weapon. I hope you are not a cop.

    • Posted by hueykhalidX, at Reply

      Nah…that’s just plane ol’ racism.

    • Posted by liedetector101, at Reply

Kenneth Martin: homeless in Houston If you watch the full video there were people at the park and he waved the gun at them, they left and called the cops on him and you said he was 12 instead of 13 not because of confusion but because 12 to you sounds like he was more of a child. Just be honest, the story is bad enough, you don’t need to exaggerate.

    • Posted by Kenneth Martin: homeless in Houston, at Reply

liedetector101 the original reports and oldest article I referred to said he was 12. besides I apologized for saying that. you were right. he was 13. which really doesn’t matter, as we all think there is a difference between 13 and 12 when we are 12. when you grow up, you realize there is no difference. so accept my apologies and stop acting like you’re 12 ( or 13)
