Republicans' alternate reality bubble is more bubbly than ever. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"…But this hope faces a serious challenge: Half of all Republicans actually think Trump won the popular vote.

In a nationally representative online survey of 1,011 Americans conducted by Qualtrics between Dec. 6 and 12, we asked respondents, “In last month’s election, Donald Trump won the majority of votes in the electoral college. Who do you think won the most popular votes?”

Twenty-nine percent said Donald Trump won the popular vote. This is a slightly larger proportion than in a recent Pew survey in which 19 percent said Trump won the popular vote.

Respondents’ correct understanding of the popular vote depended a great deal on partisanship. A large fraction of Republicans — 52 percent — said Trump won the popular vote, compared with only 7 percent of Democrats and 24 percent of independents. Among Republicans without any college education, the share was even larger: 60 percent, compared with 37 percent of Republicans with a college degree."*

President Trump won 30 states vs HRC’s 20, *and even a plurality of the
    popular vote outside of CA.*

INuchalHead: For some reason these people who keep discounting CA seem to
forget that CA is the seventh largest economy in the world. They are the
“MAKERS” and the red states are the “TAKERS”. What CA pays in Fed Tax
dollars is more than most of the red states combined. This “California
would control the vote” is bullshit propaganda that the Conservative media
pushes and they lap it up like dogs without thinking. I’d take California
over thirty red states combined. California is a trail blazing state
particularly in green energy, technology and agriculture. BTW, I DO NOT
      live in California.

Take California out and Trump won overwhelmingly. This is why the electoral
    college was created. Civics 101.

    • Posted by Nez, at Reply

+Alex N The Electoral College was created by slave owners for slave owners.
There is no reason for it now. It goes against the very concept of one
person, one vote. Wow, who would’ve thought a lot of smart people tend to
live & socialize with other smart people. Ever wonder why those cities are
MAJOR cities with huge economies? No reason. Just herd thinking. The same
could be said for stupid people, I guess. NBD.

    • Posted by Alex N, at Reply

+Nez “The Electoral College was created by slave owners for slave owners” –
      so was electricity.

Herd thinking is real. It’s in our DNA. It doesn’t matter if you’re smart
or stupid, it applies equally both ways. That’s why electoral college is
useful regardless of its original purpose – it places less weight on people
      who think more alike.

I’d recommend “Herd thinking in times of piece and war” but since you think
you’re right, and hence everybody else is wrong, I doubt you’d get
interested. Which is a shame, because it’s free and considered so
definitive that it’s in the Library of Congress. Your loss.

“silent majority “we have men with rifles who could possibly start a civil
war, on the other side we have sensitive goonies that’ll bang on drums,
while singing something like “no TRUMP, No KKK, No Fascist USA, No TRUMP”
with no chance of saving a cat from a tree, let alone a starting a tactical
movement with traction. It’s also important to note, while not necessarily
republicans, 90%+ of Americans armed forces and law enforcement, stand
behind the TRUMP movement. So the next 4-8 years at least, while things
could get “noisy” that’ll be about the extent of it.

+Lsx Powered What about the billions of dollars spent on Bush’s vacations?
Do you know how much it costs for the president to travel? In 6 years in
office Obama took 19 vacations totaling at 125 days. Bush took 65 vacations
      totaling at 407 days.
Also, a typical flight for the president costs almost $1 million.
So even if that number is true, which I’m sure it isn’t, it is literal
pocket change compared to how much Bush cost us with vacations alone.

understand my point, It’s not about the money. And regardless, you’d never
have enough people to eat $65,000 worth of pizza and hotdogs in a single

If you add Hillary huge win in California, and New york to Trump narrow win
in many of the states Hillary wins the popular vote. if Trump had won by
large numbers in 31 states he would have won the popular vote. California
and New York doesn’t control the entire US.

      Funny you said that……
People are not willing to admit to voting for Obama. I live in CA and the
number of those willing to admit the vote are slim.
People refuse to admit they voted for him (maybe 30% did). Or maybe they
were ashamed and didn’t want to answer question on why they voted for him.

    • Posted by The Timekeeper, at Reply

+Lee Walter Despite what you might believe, no one is entitled to know who
someone else voted for or why. That’s true regardless of the political
affiliation(s) of those involved, which is why it doesn’t matter whether
people do or don’t want to talk about their vote. If they do, great; if
they don’t, fine. That’s exactly why voting stations are
      partitioned—because it’s no one else’s business.

Of course we know sexes are male and female and there is the very rare
blend of both, but usually not equally.
When speaking of gender, you can talk about electrons and protons as well
      as electronics and automotives.
But an interesting occult theory exists and is extremely obscure, which
might interest zero or more people, depending on your interest in the
      workings of human beings.
The woman and the man have different genders in them depending on what part
of the consciousness you are looking at. For instance, a male has, of
course a physical body that is masculine in gender, while his emotions are
feminine (passive) and his mental body is again masculine (active). His
soul, whatever such a thing really is and IF it is, is feminine.
A woman is precisely the opposite, notably having an emotional body and a
soul of masculine genders, while her physical and mental bodies are
