Breaking News – DEMOCRATS are losers. Republicans are losers who happened to have a win.

Yea I just get sick of people thinking if hillary got in America would be fine. They would be just as bad but just in different ways. One “supposedly” has ties to Russia the other “supposedly” ties to Saudi Arabia

    • Posted by Geoffrey Sorkin, at Reply

Hillary Clinton advocated openly for Saudi Arabia while Secretary of State. She gave her endorsement of their “anti-terrorism” measures. Saudi Arabia defines terrorism as not agreeing with their particular Salafist brand of Sunni Islam, and explicitly say all atheists are terrorists.

I don’t care about money, for that she has ties to Saudi Arabia, and the blood of people they kill is on her hands for advocating selling them weapons. And Obama’s hands, and Bush’s hands, and Colin Powell’s hands, and Donald Rumsveld’s, and Donald’s Trump’s arms (his hands aren’t big enough for the blood).

lol sometimes it feels like Jimmy is reading my thoughts out loud verbatim. I was reluctant to not support HRC after she shafted Bernie…but in the end it really didn’t matter. He was right.

We need to breathe πŸ”₯ against the corporaDems and Repug Trumpanzee bigots.

Bernie would not have had a shot in Hell at winning without a moron like Trump on the other side. The Repubs would/will drag out the “socialist = communist” rant and kill a Bernie candidacy.

For the record, Hilary would have won without the Russian email leaks and Putins fake news machine. Yes, she was a terrible candidate. Yes, she had some legitimate baggage (although 90% was faux). But, she still would have won.

Republicans would’ve also gotten Bernie on foreign policy

    • Posted by goodfella21f, at Reply

Jim is the man nope, the more the repubes would have dragged out the “socialist” thing the more Bernie would have looked better, since Bernies ideas are supported by the American public.

If we taxed the capital gains on Instant Trades at 50% we could afford Universal Healthcare. Instant Trades don’t benefit the economy, and only serve to inflate bubbles. A 50% tax would prevent more people from doing it, but wouldn’t drive the people who currently do it (like Robert Mercer, the creator of it) out of business.

    • Posted by Andre Lot, at Reply

Trade does benefit the economy by creating a liquid market. I have no problems with capital gains being taxed like earning income, but not in a punitive way like that. Without active securities trade, people, pensions funds, and all sorts of investors would be much more hesitant to invest in equities in general, and that will automatically affect the IPO market, reducing the flows for new businesses. It would also essentially kill the whole venture capital business that brought us Youtube, Google, Microsoft and what else.

    • Posted by Jim is the man, at Reply

I agree. 50% is unreasonable. HOWEVER, people who trade for a living should be taxed at the same rates as those who work at other professions. They should not get any advantages in the code.

As for the venture, PE, etc people… if the field is level, they will adjust to the new field. They will invest to make money, just like before.

    • Posted by Andre Lot, at Reply

That I can agree with: taxing capital gains of all sorts (including capital gains from securities trading) as if it were regular income.

    • Posted by Geoffrey Sorkin, at Reply

Instant trades are not regular trading. I have no problem with regular trading. Instant Trades are when a thing is bought and sold at a higher price over the course of less than a second. It inflates the value of the thing (commodity or stock) without actually changing anything about the thing itself.

Robert Mercer created it as a means of taking advantage of (and inflating) bubbles before they burst.

Holy fucking CHRIST, i can’t believe people are STILL arguing against universal healthcare.
Seriously, Conservatives and corporatist Democrats have had a massive stranglehold on our government for as long as i can remember, and we CONTINUE to worship capitalism to the most extreme levels.
If there’s ANYTHING we can say with absolute certainty based on half a century of Conservative government is that trickle down economics and corporate based healthcare does NOT work!

When was the last time we had a truly LIBERAL or progressive president? NO, Obama and Clinton were NOT liberal, they were at BEST center right. No one can say that we’ve tried liberal or progressive government except for Social Security and Medicare, and guess what, it fucking WORKS!
Most people are too fucking partisan to their party to admit we need to stop regurgitating failed policies like trickle down economics and corporate healthcare. We are victims of our own stubborn stupidity. Everywhere there is any discussion about healthcare, there are always the SAME retards screaming about socialism, and yet we haven’t TRIED anything that isn’t approved by corporate interests.

America has become an embarrassing cesspool of ignorance. People keep getting raped by Wall Street, and CONTINUE to choose more of the same. The same morons keep preaching about the evils of socialism while drowning in the failures of trickle down economics and corporate healthcare.

Meet the Republicans who killed the public option: ALL OF THEM. Well over 90% of elected democrats support a public option

    • Posted by schticknic, at Reply

You know…there’s now a Medicare for all bill in Congress. Watch how many Ds DO NOT support it. That will tell you which ones need to go. Very simple.

    • Posted by Kyle Ruth, at Reply

Look up ideological scores based on voting records or just look at the voting records themselves of senators. There is no crossover between democrats and republicans. Every single trade deal, including NAFTA, was voted for by a majority of republicans in both the house and senate and voted against by a majority of democrats in both the house and senate. Today, the vast majority of democrats in both the house and senate voted for bringing in cheaper pharmaceutical drugs from Canada, against TPP, for card check for unions, for increased education funding, for ending tax cuts for corporations that ship jobs overseas, etc. The vast majority of republicans in both the house and senate voted against bringing in cheaper pharmaceutical drugs from Canada, for TPP, against card check for unions, for cutting education funding, turning Medicare, social security and public education into a voucher system and privatizing them, voted against ending tax breaks for corporations that ship jobs overseas, for dumping coal into rivers (ending job creating regulations), for ending class action lawsuits (so far has only been passed in the house by exclusively republican votes (the vast majority of republicans voted for it))

So what do you propose we do with Jim Messina?

  14. Posted by markd315, at Reply

Uh, no. The Democrat who killed the public option was senator Joe Lieberman, or the death of Ted Kennedy, anything else was just a formality.

Ah, yes, the liberals’ answer to the alt-right. The saddest part is that you genuinely don’t seem to understand what a nutcase you are.

Was Obama ideal? Of course not. Could he have been more liberal? Of course. But there’s quite a long way between that and what you’re alleging. And your conspiracy theory nonsense is utter hogwash. Tell me about how 9/11 was an inside job now.

Not a huge Hillary fan at all but remember when she was the first lady, she tried to get a health care bill that would have been a single payer system for all but congress just would not vote for it. I think when she called such a health care plan “pie in the sky”, she simply means that getting such a bill passed by Congress is close to impossible. Obama also ran on for president on trying to get a single payer system but as he tried, not all Democrats would support it. But sadly, the fact that he got the ACA passed was still a big deal when you look at past history. Hopefully Democrats can when back Congress and of course the White House, and the Democrats really get it done.

    • Posted by Big Jay, at Reply

+ZaNe similien But you had some blue dog Democrats that just would not support it so Obama passed what he could get enough votes for. And something was better than absolutely nothing. I think Joe Liberman was one that wouldn’t support a single payer system.

    • Posted by tmma86, at Reply

If he dragged them blue dogs in to the oval office and said to them straight up, support single payer or i’m going to tell your constituents you don’t want them to have healthcare and make sure you lose your next primary, they would have signed on to it in a second. Obama didn’t have the gumption for something like that though. Obama’s popularity was based on his progressive agenda during his 2008 campaign, an agenda he almost completely turned his back on the second he was elected.
