And conservatards claim the MSM is liberal…

    • Posted by JAKESTAR105, at Reply

A gap in the market. What does that mean? Are saying he saw his chance to make the big bucks as a Progressive commentator?
Someone who was a conservative in college can’t become a Liberal in his 40’s?

    • Posted by tarun1982, at Reply

well,… it used to be uber liberal… they still are but some leftards might be getting some slight bit of sense now

“well,… it used to be uber liberal…”

You mean in the 1930s? It may have pushed for social justice, but it has never tried to buck the neoliberal economics establishment in its current form.

One of the strategies to push views to the right is to call the center or even the center right the left. Once you eliminate enough center voices and replace them with right wing voices the center becomes the fringe and the far right becomes the new normal. This was the explicit objective of media organizations such as Clear Channel. It worked.

More bitching about another news channel?!? Let’s just have some news, Chunk.

    • Posted by Ruen Ruotel, at Reply

+torinju I was surprised by your comment, and I’ve consequently read the channel’s description. It says “The Largest Online News Show in the World. (…) We are a rare show that combines all of the news that people care about in one place.” Seems like they describe themselves as a news channel here. Where do they describe themselves as an opinion channel ?

Agreed. Cenk will always complain about MSNBC and Bill Maher. His entire team as well.

It takes an extremely arrogant, uncritical person to think that they are infallible and right about everything. It’s cultlike. But if that were the case, there’d be no need for democracy or political parties or debate or anything. We’d just have the people who think they are right about everything (including purely subjective matters and those with shades of grey) impose their will on the people are supposedly wrong about everything.

You dumbasses are exactly the problem with the modern left. Ideological totalitarians.

    • Posted by Jimmy Cotreau, at Reply

Why should TYT be more like CNN just to appease you?

    • Posted by Fiery One, at Reply

Jimmy..You just said you don’t like being disabled, and here you are loving it. Quit being a hypocrite and spread yourself to wider and diverse viewpoints. You must be quite dim to conflate having ‘diverse and opposing viewpoints’ with just ‘CNN ‘. Can you have a ‘balance’with only a one-sided viewpoint?? Quit swallowing everything Cenk says and get yourself your own mind even if its partially.

    • Posted by Jesus Christman, at Reply

Fiery One you know tyt allows you to watch OTHER viewpoints of your own right ? even encourages it ? they don’t want to be demagogues.

i thought we were told “not to make generalisations” by the left… oh but they are hypocrites.. my bad.

    • Posted by Squarerootofkitty, at Reply

Yes, your bad, but not in the way you “think.” The conservatives discussed were stupid, not the idea of conservatism itself. Oh, and you being stupid kinda doesn’t help matters at all. Also, maybe get some sort writing tutoring. Ever hear of capital letters and what’s with all those ellipses? Again, your bad.

tarun1982 Well when the majority of people on the right seem to be brain dead you can’t help but laugh

As a dyed in the wool liberal who listened to Air America till it died an untimely death and thinks we should have more liberal media, I don’t like the idea of MSNBC moving even more toward the alleged “center”… we’ve got a tiny number of openly liberal folks on TV as it is (at least relatively unmuzzled ones).

But, I don’t mind MSNBC hiring people like George Will, Nicole Wallace, etc. I kind of like knowing that “my side” is capable of hearing two well debated opposing viewpoints without our heads exploding. Plus, in this particular administration it’s fun/refreshing to watch people like Wallace and Steve Schmidt being even more outraged/incredulous than Maddow/Hayes/O’Donnell.

The thing I don’t get is why Joe Scarborough gets three freaking hours every morning. Cut him down to one and put two more liberals in that slot – or more. Bring The Cycle back for one hour and give Joy the other. That would do a lot to redress the balance. (I wouldn’t mind getting rid of old Joe entirely, but that’s another matter. Same goes for Chuck Todd, who in my mind lost whatever integrity he had left quite a while ago.)

    • Posted by Skye Holloway, at Reply

Seanchai I have to agree with you I don’t really mind them adding Nicole or Will’s. because it does open up for more dialogue on key topics and I can appreciate that. I actually enjoy Joe but I do wish they would cut back at least and hour ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ poor Mika she gets in her feelings when Joe cuts her off and she gets damn near emotional ๐Ÿ˜ฉ that part makes me laugh. But he does have some key points that I do appreciate

    • Posted by Seanchai, at Reply

I think I’m just burned out on Joe tbh. I used to leave him on while I was doing other stuff in the mornings because, like you, I really do appreciate hearing a *rational* debate, and especially a rational republican, since those seem to be more and more an endangered species these days (I live in the Deep South, so I’m subjected to completely irrational ones just by walking outside!)… I usually disagree with their points, but listening to someone articulate the opposite POV without resorting to screaming or ad hominem attacks helps me get better at articulating (to myself and others) *why* I disagree. But ever since Joe started having Trump on regularly during the primaries, I just couldn’t handle it anymore… the only reason to watch these days seems to be in the hope that Mika will have enough of the way he cuts her off and slaps him in the back of the head, and now that they’re engaged, I suspect she’s disinclined to do that on air. Which is a shame, cause if she did – just once! – it might be enough for me to enjoy watching him again. ๐Ÿ˜€
