Hillary helped speed up a uranium deal for Russia which in return some Russian businessmen “donated” to the Clinton foundation… Trump also helped some Russian oligarchs launder some money… Both are bad

    • Posted by Bennie Gray, at Reply

cptmiller132 I know. I’m just punting out that the people that say that Hillary was bought by Russia, but would of gone to war with them are just ignorant. They were both bought by Russia so war with them wouldn’t of happened.

It’s not that she would have just outright gone to war with them or not… it’s the things she wanted to do that would have pissed Russia off so much that we might have ended up in a war with them…
For example the no fly zone over Russian troops and the massive sanctions on Russia just to name a few… Or until/unless her Russian friends paid her off anyways…

All this N Korea and Russia cold war non-sense is just a bunch of bullsh**. WHY are they mad at us? Perhaps cause in the last war with N Korea, USA killed a THIRD of their population. You’d be pretty pissed at another country who’d do that to USA. Also, how many foreign bases do we have in USA versus the number we have all around the world?… This is all just news for Military industrial. best thing to do is to stop all this war posturing crap and make N Korea do a deal. One where China and Russia (whom are both providing N Korea with internet) help out with a mining deal for that 6-10 TRILLION dollars worth of minerals under their land and portion of the profits go to better conditions for poor in N Korea.

    • Posted by Joe Scirrotto, at Reply

    • Posted by Tara C, at Reply

TheRetiredtrucker Google ‘political realignment’. The slaveholding Democrats of the 19th century are not the same as the Democrats of the 21st century. Do you think Abe Lincoln and Jeff Sessions would belong to the same political party today? Just like you guys would never count the early 20th century Republican “socialist” Teddy Roosevelt, who in 1912 called for universal healthcare, Social Security, a minimum wage law, and an estate tax, among your ranks today.

Say the US leaves them be and lets them keep nukes. All that does is confirm to other regimes that the key to keeping the US or any other international body off your case is to go nuclear. Once that happens how long until one of these weapons is used by such a regime or taken and used by other bad actors because of the inherent corruption and lack of safeguards in these countries.

    • Posted by Eduardo Ramirez, at Reply

Thats the way its always been. The US gov only messes with countries that dont have nuclear arms.

    • Posted by Praylak, at Reply

If all other countries get nukes, then no more war. That’s the whole point in nukes. The greatest military threat in the world now is the USA. If nukes were to be used, which they won’t be, the most likely country to use them would logically be the most aggressive. History shows us that would be the USA.

    • Posted by TheStigma, at Reply

I don’t think a world in which every nation has nuclear weapons is the way to go…

Remember the cold war? I think it’s naive to think that situation couldn’t easily taken a very bad turn – and if you add to that every other nation also having nukes then that’s about as close to a real-life apocalypse as you will get.

The shitty things about M.A.D. is that if one guy fires his nukes then the only response you have is to join him in destroying the earth. It’s like a school shooting incident except the perpetrator, the students, the teacher and security guards are all armed with fragmentation grenades. It just won’t end well…

It only takes one act of insanity to create an unstoppable chain-reaction of destruction – and I definitely don’t trust every state actor to remain perfectly rational forever (I think it is very evident that many of them already are not). If ISIS (or any other equivalent) with ballistic nuclear missiles woudn’t keep you up at night then what would?

A world with only a handful of militarily powerful warmongering states having nukes isn’t much better though. That sort of imbalance is only stable as long as it can be enforced through threats of violence.
There is no rational argument to be made for a nuclear state to deny others the same. “Hey you guys can’t have nukes because we don’t trust you. We can though because we are special and totally trustworthy”. It’s obviously absurd.

黒人優しげな I have a feeling you have no idea what genocide is

    • Posted by Praylak, at Reply

@TheStigma, I hear what you’re saying, I don’t like it either but the nazi science is here to stay. I don’t see the insanity event happening, as it would require all people involved to be total suicidal loonbars. That incident in the ’80s with Petrov, or the political officer on that Soviet sub in the 60’s showed that even under specific RoE and military directive, when it came down to it, it was stopped before it got insane.

I think a better comparison rather than ISIS as they are not a country, but how about Pakistan or Iran? As it stands Israel/US does not want Iran to have nukes because if they had them, attacking them would not be an option as a result of M.A.D., like you point out. As long as they don’t have nukes, an invasion in the future is possible, and likely.

I don’t see anything convincing enough that the Ayatollah dude, is any more nuts than Kim, Trump or Netanyahu. Actually they are all total nuts, but at least the entire chain of command under them is not suicidal. The nukes of today are truly extinction tools, unlike the bombs used on Japan during WWII. People that are responsible for them know this and they will not be used.

Think of the benefits of a world without war, all for just a few more nukes spread amongst us.

  12. Posted by foggyblues13, at Reply

Who cares!? They are allowed to test missiles like any other country. This is all propaganda. If the US would stop threatening everyone just so that they can profit from war, then none of this would be an issue.

It is possible that I could be maimed or killed in an auto accident. This is one of the most common forms of death for young to middle age people. If you are a middle-aged person or older, you probably know of 1 or more people that you know that have been killed in an auto-accident. Off the top of my head I can think of three people I know that have been killed in an auto-accident. However, I don’t stress out or wet my pants every time that I get into a car. Some people are deathly afraid of flying but flying is far safer than driving. These are the facts. If you are overweight, smoke, drink too much, don’t get any exercise, all of these things are far more likely to cause harm or early death than worrying about NK launching a nuclear missile. I have a feeling your are the scared, weak type. I bet you also are worried about being killed by a terrorist or this country being taken over by Muslims and Sharia law too. You probably are suffering from far more than just simple irrational fears. See a mental health professional. With therapy and the right medication, it might be possible to cure your delusions and irrational fears. I wish you the best. Get well.

they aren’t allowed to threaten other countries that would include south korea and japan. i suggest that you look into the truce that was signed with the korean war and look at the peace treaty that the usa and japan signed that ended the war between the two countries. the usa is obligated to step in and challenge north korea on this.
