Obama desires the centrist lender to win in France. Surprising. That stated, Obama is best on this: centrist lenders are far better than fascists. Nomiki Konst and Jimmy Dore, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Inform us just what you assume in the remark area listed below.

" Former Head of state Barack Obama on Thursday made a recommendation in France's governmental political election days ahead of a runoff ballot, backing Emmanuel Macron.

" I understand that you face numerous difficulties, as well as I desire all my friends in France to know how much I am favoring your success," he said in a video clip announcing his assistance.

" As a result of exactly how vital this political election is, I also desire you to recognize I am supporting Emmanuel Macron to lead you ahead. En March! Vive la France!"

Macron, that leads the socially liberal event En Marche! (In Motion!), backs staying in the European Union." *.

I’m from France where I have lived for most of my life.. and I must say that TYT are just not honest in this video.

    • Posted by DefeatGlobalism, at Reply

TYT is the epitome of extreme fake news. Muslims and the EU bankers are raping France everyday. Le Pen is their only hope.

Whatever Jacob Hansen claims to be, he is right that TYT and in general most US media is dishonest about France. Their problem is that they always have this weird urge to compare everything in the USA to other countries, projecting basically. People and culture in France is not the same as in the USA, the same goes for other countries US media always projects their culture, character etc. on.
Best example is the constant comparison of Obama to Macron and Le Pen to Trump, neither can be compared to any US politician or platform. Le Pen for example is far more leftwing on issues such as healthcare, benefits for the working class etc.
So pretty much the opposite of Trump and more like Bernie Sanders on these topics, while she is right wing on topics such as immigration.

I’m from France and I still live here. I must say Macron IS a neoliberal 101. I hate Le Pen but I’ll never vote for him.

  2. Posted by rouge1ful, at Reply

please let Macron win! Europe still likes Obama, let that help even if its just a little. the EU is doomed if Le Pen wins and France will be doomed also.

    • Posted by Listenbuddy1, at Reply

+rouge1ful That’s dumb. They should come up with an “electoral college” to protect the country from Marxists, like we have.

    • Posted by Mareo, at Reply

      That doesn’t make sense.

    • Posted by rouge1ful, at Reply

+Listenbuddy1 oh yeah the system that we have treating voters like children who don’t know any better and apparently can’t pick for themselves. The system that has allowed us to vote a demagogue into office even though he lost the popular vote the exact opposite of what the Electoral College is supposed to do. The Antiquated system that unlike the rest of the Constitution has not grown or changed in the last 200 years. There are dozens of countries who have better election systems and we do. hell there are few countries out there that have their elections through i-voting.

    • Posted by james smith, at Reply

+rouge1ful Democrats support systems like the electoral college. They have super delegates and Vermont has a similar system

Considering Le Pen has stated that immigrnats threaten the “identity” of france i would say yes Le Pen is another example of how the far right has used immigrants as scape goat for all of their problems.

    • Posted by Kilgore Trout, at Reply

They are the problem. Look at the stats.

    • Posted by gatesbrown26, at Reply

drummer10 its not “immigrants”, its MUSLIMS, whether born in France or not. It aint Poles massacring everbody in a magazine office for drawing pictures of Popo John Paul, it aint Chinese slaughtering over a hundred people in a concert hall, it aint Brazilians driving trucks over pedestrians, and it aint Canadians cutting the throats of priests on the alter of their churches. Lets stop kidding ourselves.

She isn’t far right, ESPECIALLY in terms of economic issues. In economic issues, she is a centrist in France’s spectrum. On social issues however you could consider her more right-wing than other candidates.

Le Pen isn’t “far right” look at her economic policies she’s more socialist and left wing than Obama or Clinton or 99% of Democrats. You call anyone far right if you don’t like them. Immature.

    • Posted by Anton Karlsson, at Reply

On Economic issues yes, but so are all of the right wing too. They’re talking about the authoritarian right vs neo-liberal left scale so to speak.

    • Posted by DefeatGlobalism, at Reply

protecting your culture and heritage from third world Muslims savages is considered far right nowadays. the non racist thing to do is bend over and let Muslims rape your country like in modern progressive Sweden.

    • Posted by Leanbhh Brighhid, at Reply

    • Posted by zorglub667, at Reply

not if you count in all the socialist aspects that have become a nobrainer in europe (and are supported by macron completely). if youd take these positions and transfer them to the US, youd have a guy who demands universal healthcare, minimum wages, regulations of the financial sector…

…pretty sanders-ish, if you ask me. but yes, by european standards, thats a centrist. especially in france.

Jimmy, I’m British and Brexit did have a lot to do with immigration. A small portion was about sovereignty but most people who voted leave did so to stop immigration. I live in the north east, the region with the highest percentage that voted leave. Plus there’s a lot of idiots who voted leave because, and I quote, ‘I fancied a change’.

    • Posted by simply2ghetto, at Reply

V true. Surprisingly the regions that voted with the biggest margin had the lowest rates settled immigrants.

    • Posted by Fuck you if you don't like me, at Reply

Lee A you Brits were fooled into Brexit by a bunch of elitist who have zero concerns for the public and long term ramifications. You citizens lost and the elitist won.

    • Posted by Memorandom, at Reply

Also “I voted leave to stick it to Cameron”, lots of those people. Jimmy’s understanding of Brexit is laughable.

  16. Posted by Cosmodin, at Reply

No wonder why Obama endorses him. Macron is a neoliberal corporate shill.

    • Posted by Cosmodin, at Reply

+Darth Kal-El Macron advocates more deregulation in the financial sector, the “gig economy” model, the European treaties in which austerity is enshrined and even business newspapers that support him admit his tax plan will increase inequalities. Clearly neoliberal.

  17. Posted by Martti Hänninen, at Reply

So Le Pen will win then. Macron used basically same rhetoric as Hillary and declared Le Pen supporters as enemy of France.

    • Posted by Martti Hänninen, at Reply

Did i hurt your feelings with truth?

    • Posted by Martti Hänninen, at Reply

So enlighten me then. What did i lie about?

    • Posted by Leedark3, at Reply

Not really. There are many differences between us and them. French politics in general are different. Macron may not be extremely popular, but he doesn’t carry the kind of baggage Clinton did into the election. Le Pen is also not quite “the Trump of France.” He won by lying with a populist message. There was some jingoist rhetoric in there, too, that helped sway idiots in Pennsylvania who think Mexicans were taking their jobs, but a lot of it was about “being the Washington outsider” even though he wasn’t, and talking about corrupt government. Le Pen has not used the same populist rhetoric across the board.

    • Posted by Bae Of Pigs, at Reply

+Huntersmoonx Grim Nope. I’m against SELECTIVE truth or using fake information as propaganda. if I want truth only from US media, you want “truth” only from Kremlin back intelligence fronts pretending as news. So you condemn republicans for the TREASON they committed by gerrymandering & voter suppression? oh wait i forgot, treason doesn’t work that way. you or i don’t get to decide what treason is. the law does. and under law, only 1 person is under treason investigation…that’s trump.

    • Posted by Huntersmoonx Grim, at Reply

Bae Of Pigs The fact is that DNC AND HRC lied, cheated and manipulated millions of voters. You are mad because they got caught. AND OBAMA EITHER KNEW OR IS INCOMPETENT. Your choice.
