A new poll reveals stunning numbers on how many Trump supporters believe "pizzagate” is real. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

“Nearly half of all Donald Trump voters believe a widely debunked conspiracy theory claiming that Hillary Clinton is involved in a child sex ring run out of a popular Washington, D.C. pizzeria, a recent poll suggests.

The Economist/YouGov poll released Tuesday shows that a staggering 46% of Trump voters believe the so-called “Pizzagate” conspiracy, which began circulating on obscure sites like 4chan and Reddit ahead of Election Day before spurring controversy on Twitter and Facebook.

Concerns over the dangerous impact of fake news were heightened after Edgar Welch, 28, of Salisbury, N.C., stormed into the Italian restaurant at the center of the baseless conspiracy with a loaded assault rifle on Dec. 4 in order to “self-investigative."

Look up Jimmy Saville. He was the head of a pedophile ring that raped
200,000+ children and included 1200 people. 76 Politicians and more than
200 members of the media. These things do happen.

I think the problem is you dont actually understand what PizzaGate is. It
is Not a claim that Hillary Clinton ran a pedophile ring. Thats just a lie
      TYT made up.
PizzaGate is about a Pedo ring that was patronized by John Podesta who was
Hillarys Campaign manager. There is strong evidence of it.
Why with all the evidence did the police not check to make sure its not
true? What harm would it do to have just let the police check.
There has been no pizzagate debunking , if you disagree please explain what
      was debunked.

This is just lazy journalism. Instead of going through the points and
discussing them and debunking them.. You just read off some headlines and
imply. This is very lazy work and does nothing to forward the debate or
help inform people that may have half the information. It is a piece
designed to insult and create division more then it is designed to do
    anything else.

    • Posted by Ronin Dave, at Reply

+DootDoot way to completely miss the point there. Holocaust Denial is not a
legitimate argument and neither is this PizzaGate nonsense because both are
rooted less in a quest for truth and more in a socio-political agenda and
they have literally nothing to back up their claims. People don’t debate
with people who have no evidence.

    • Posted by DootDoot, at Reply

+Ronin Dave You are missing the point. Holocaust had thousands of man hours
in journalism spent on it. Trying to compare the two is extremely
disingenuous. And yes. Pizzagate has a lot of factual evidence that anyone
can self verify. It starts with John Podesta’s emails.

People who simply dismiss things because the echo chamber tells them too
without looking into it themselves should not be telling other people about
legitimacy. Specially when they have not actively pursued it themselves.

      fit a narrative.

become open if you subscribe but I don’t know, a lot of them are locked
just because I save all the crazy stuff I come across. Its pretty much just
a personal archive of strange things I discover on the internet. I do find
some wild stuff out there. To me, the trick to taking it all in rationally
seems to be to watch it all with a grain of salt and try to determine how
much is possible truth or fiction, for profit, politically motivated, etc.,
there is a lot of that out there.

Putting aside Hillary Clinton, I am the last person who wants to believe in
PIZZAGATE but some true facts remain unexplained. Two things are not faked:
the e-mails and the art work in Podesta’s house. The e.mails use a coded
language which looks highly suspiscious and the art in P’s house is
explicit. many children in ambiguous poses: a drowned girl, a boy about 10
or 11 wearing only underpants with his hands chained above his head, a row
of children aged about 6 in their underpants and ghoulish black dots for
their eyes and so on. I looked at a poscaster who specialises in debunking
conspiracy theories but he only succeded in making the story more likely.
He didn’t show the e-mails but only cited one word, hotdogs, saying it was
absurd to ssume it meant boys. He didn’t show the other coded words. Then
he said Podesta had a particular taste in the arts and shoiwed only one
sculpture so entangled and half visible that one could not make it out. He
didn’t show the other paintings I mentioned. And here we have TYT screaming
about it all being a lie. If you want to debunk this story do it properly
and look at all the evidence and explain it.

I liked the part where they mock people for *believing* in a conspiracy
theory with a small amount of circumstantial evidence, then go on to mock
people for *not believing* in a conspiracy theory with absolutely no

+Sheldon Hall ” I’m assuming you’re not really this thick”

I’m going to have to assume you really are this thick.

“An implication is still a thing. Fallacies in reason are almost never
explicitly stated and need to be teased out of common speak.”

And you *still* made a fallacy fallacy.

” If multiple independent sources you trust as experts in a field tell you
something they discovered based on their expertise and you dismiss it on
the fact they didn’t give you satisfactory evidence when you know it’s a
risk to disclose their sources then you’re not being reasonable. At the
very least you should hold that position tentative until you get more
      evidence. ”

They haven’t even disclosed that it was discovered based on their
expertise, you’re making that inference on your own, and no I’ve already
shown how it’s not any risk at all to disclose that evidence. Once again
you’re just trying to make excuses for your perpetuation of these lies.

“The fallacy comes with assuming they lied to you. Basically I’m making a
case for an appeal to multiple independent authorities and you’re likely
disregarding that as important (or a fallacy). Please tell me how you know
for a fact they have no private evidence to this conclusion? ”

No you’re claiming that because you think i made a fallacy that everything
I said is wrong, this is a fallacy fallacy. I want evidence, I don’t care
who is telling me something, authority or not.

“In terms of circumstantial evidence, cursory search I saw these:”

Two mainstream news sites are not evidence, I want the evidence that the
people making the actual claim supposedly have.

“Now I am no apologist, I have no idea if Russia really did a hack and I
also require more evidence to form a conclusion on that but to outright
dismiss this as a possibility and assume authorities are lying to you
definitely isn’t a well reasoned position and clearly shows bias. I won’t
be surprised if you don’t see that though.”

Yet you’re doing your damnedest to be one. Your claims show your own bias
in an unwavering loyalty to believe anything you’ve been told by
intelligence agencies. You make the claim that their claims should be heard
without evidence, I make the claim that regardless of claims evidence needs
      to be shown.

“Back to the original point, you have circumstantial evidence and authority
claims vs just circumstantial evidence for pizzagate as far as I’ve seen.”

And again what you provided was no evidence whatsoever. go to the sources,
not just some random mainstream news site that spouts the exact same
      bullshit we’ve already heard.

    • Posted by Sheldon Hall, at Reply

Am I inferring that intelligence agencies and cyber security firms came to
a conclusion based on their expertise? Absolutely, that’s a perfectly
rational inference or don’t you see that? After all, it is in their
      function.

“I want evidence, I don’t care who is telling me something, authority or
      not.”

I don’t disagree with you, a wise man purports his beliefs to the evidence.
I never said I believed (with any certainty) the Russians hacked, the
difference between us is that I also don’t disbelieve it. I hold that
position tentatively and that’s the main point. I noticed you completely
      ignored it so I’ll repeat:

Please tell me how you know for a fact they have no private evidence to
this conclusion as you’ve stated before?

Any biased I have is I’m not a conspiracy theorist. This cuts to the heart
of the contention. I don’t believe multiple agencies (intelligence or news)
are out to get us nor intentionally trying to cause problems. Everyone has
biased and are wrong at times, so evidence and rational discourse must be
sought but to assume they’re all lying to you (as you said) is based on
what exactly? I know you don’t see it but that’s just cynicism, personal
      bias or unhealthy skepticism.

It’s not even remotely rational. These agencies live and die on the
evidence. If they can not or will not provide it they should always be
      immediately suspect.

“I don’t disagree with you, a wise man purports his beliefs to the

Because absolutely no evidence has been provided for the claim. I can claim
they absolutely haven’t in the exact same way I can claim cthulhu or a
mythical pink unicorn doesn’t exist. It would be plain silly to have to
entertain every unevidenced claim as possibly true. At some point you have
to expect evidence for the claim.

“Any biased I have is I’m not a conspiracy theorist. This cuts to the heart

Based on them refusing to give evidence. For a claim which could possibly
lead to world war 3 I *must* consider them to be liars until they provide
that evidence. I *will not* go to war or support a country that goes to war
      based on yet more lies.

    • Posted by Sheldon Hall, at Reply

Well at least you’re honest even though not self aware. I doubt I can get
you to see how your way of thinking clouds what you think is rational but I
doubt I can. The unicorn example is really silly as there have been many
unicorn claims, none with a shred of evidence and we have no reason to
think magical creatures are even possible (which is the most important
point). Russian hacking for their benefits isn’t unfathomable and not
out-of-character for a man like Putin. Is it true, who the hell knows but,
it’s not that exceptional of a claim.

Who said anything about WW3. If it did happen it was to help Trump and
they’re best buds, what are you so worried about?

The only rational position here is to withhold a conclusion until you have
more evidence. Wasn’t a full report commissioned on this? Your certainty is
more telling than anything else you’ve said.

mental illness comes in many forms.

+Gareth McGregor post a link to a TYT “fake” news story. I’ll wait.

Хлоя Марш I genuinely believe that the trumpmaniacs live such small
intellectual lives that they obsess on these fabricated stories to bring
interest and excitement to otherwise banal and boring existences. They do
not rise above this level of intellectual discovery which smarter people
evolve beyond in their teens. It is definitely some form of mental
dysfunction that is causing this inability to distinguish reality from
      fiction.

Phil You just watched one. Norway just arrested 51 people, some in
government, in a large Pedophile Ring; they exist…

I know its hard for some people to believe things like this cause it forces
them to change how they look at the world , its uncomfortable for them.
But when you see things like Jimmy Savile , Jeffery Epstien , The Norway
pedophile ring that had Politicians in it , Boystown cover up , how can you
      just automatically deny the possiblity?

The UN has had peacekeepers accused of sex trafficking , Armys Presidio day
care was shut down cause of child rape , this has been going on for a long
time and its pretty much swept under the rug.

I really cant believe the amount of stupidity in the world right now. You
literally have to be brain dead, to believe something as stupid as
    PizzaGate…
What worries me, is that the same people who believe that PizzaGate is
real; they believe that the russian hacking incident and Trump being a
    sexual predator, are fake news.
How stupid you need to be… I cant even…*face palm*

+filonin2 Plus, even when you cite fact-checking, credible news sources,
      these chuckle-heads say you’re the one who’s fake. It’s post-truth
apocalypse- I’ve experienced it first hand after the election. I cited
actual freaking video of Trump saying awful things, but they don’t care.
It’s a mad, mad world. It’s like every college paper I ever had to cite in
excruciating detail would be completely useless.

The best part is that this guy is Muslim, yet is teaming up with Trump
supporters. Talk about working against your own interests lol.

A muslim defending a pro trump conspiracy theory.. and using the quoran to
      defend it..
Thats it.. Ive seen it all now…..brace yourselves, we are about to
experience a new era of obscurantism…

bullshit. When was this conspiracy DEBUNKED???!!! The emails don’t speak of
Hillary running a pedophile ring, but her campaign manager participating in
child porn and trafficking. It is amazing how things are twisted in order
to suit the rhetoric!!!! It has not been debunked what so ever!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted by Clean Bodies, at Reply

yea no where. Not one site has been able to prove that John Podesta is NOT
involved in child sex and trafficking. THAT was the original point!!!!
      Nothing to do with Hillary.
So where exactly have they investigated this? NO WHERE. NO WHERE.

Snopes is two people. Fact Check I’ve never heard of, and “every credible
news source out there,” does that include the people who said Hillary was
going to win. You, oolong2, haven’t looked into this yourself.

The whole point is YOU, yourself, have to research this. Don’t believe
anyone else… you. Go look for yourself. Investigate. Take a couple days
to do it right, and for your own sake, don’t believe any “news” source
except what YOU decide for yourself.

+Clean Bodies No site anywhere proves that you’re not an alien clone
either. Stupidity works in all kinds of stupid ways.

+Brian Paradis So in other words you’re just going to ignore the exhaustive
research that goes against the crazy ideas in your head right? Sure, lets
just not pay attention to facts because Clinton didn’t win.

Sorry, but 2 minutes of research pretty much concludes how idiotic you
      people are.
