Pro-gun advocate and also reporter Michael Harmon has actually been killed in a heartbreaking weapon accident. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola, and also Elegance Baldridge, hosts of The Young Turks, review. Inform us just what you assume in the remark section below.

" Maine State Authorities as well as Sanford authorities are checking out the capturing fatality of Rose city Press Herald writer M.D. Harmon at his house Wednesday mid-day in Sanford.

Authorities claim Michael D. Harmon, 71, passed away at his residence on Brunelle Avenue after a pistol he was revealing to a teenage child went off while the 16-year-old was handling it.

Harmon, an unwavering defender of gun legal rights and a champ of conservative viewpoints, was a longtime editor as well as columnist for journalism Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. He benefited the paper for 41 years, as well as remained to compose a regular column after he retired in 2011.

The teenage kid as well as his daddy, both from North Berwick, were checking out Harmon's home at the time of the shooting, cops stated. They have been cooperating with the investigation as well as investigatives were anticipated to examine them again Thursday.

Their names are not being launched due to the fact that the capturing is still under examination, state authorities representative Steve McCausland claimed Thursday night.

" The conditions under which the gun was presented is still under investigation," claimed McCausland, who did unknown why the gun was filled. "It is just one of the lots of inquiries we have."" *.

I’ll never understand why people hand over loaded firearms. Clear the
weapon, lock the action, THEN hand it over.

*Just because anything can be used as an improvised weapon is no reason to
give just anybody access to real weapons. If someone has a violent
psychological history, or has a criminal background, then no, they
shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun.*

So you admit this was senseless rambling?

Instead of reading into unfounded implications, perhaps you should focus on
the actual arguments which is this situation could’ve been avoided through
      safe gun handling.

It also could have been avoided if there were no gun involved at all, or if
the dumbass didn’t keep it loaded.

If they were smart, they wouldn’t be handing a gun over to a 16 year old
visitor to their home to begin with.

Regulations wouldn’t have stopped this accident from happening. Making sure
the gun was empty would have. Most people have firearm insurance. The NRA
gives firearm insurance with a membership. Then there’s special insurance
you should have if you conceal carry because if you ever have to use your
weapon, even if you don’t fire it, you could end up in the legal system.

Current laws require a background check to buy a firearm. All but 14 states
require private sales go through a FFL dealer. Internet gun sales go
through an FFL gun dealer in your state – this means you have to go through
a background check to buy a gun on the internet. Current gun laws don’t
allow felons, domestic abusers, and those with restraining orders against
      them to buy a gun.

But the way some of these so-called universal background check state laws
are written have other things written in them besides a comprehensive
background check. I mean why would you want to have a state law that
requires the same thing as the Federal Law?

What happened? I thought owning a gun increases your safety? He died
because he was a gun owner. Irony.

the first part of the statement is a conditional statement. So regulation
is part of the condition for the right to gun ownership. So this would mean
that the Gov has the right to regulate fire arm standards for the militia.

Note that this amendment in no way means that gun ownership is to be used
against the federal gov as the militia’s would be under the control of the
US Gov. The 10th amendment I believe has several statements assuring the
right of the federal government to use military force against any and all
attempts to over throw it. It’s much more explicit than the esoteric
reading of the second which people like to believe.

*How about citizens only get hunting rifles and not handguns and semi
automatics/automatics like in all civilized countries?*

Most hunting rifles are semi automatic, and semi automatic guns are optimal
for home defense, so I can’t agree with this ban, seems unreasonable.

This is why we license gun owners in Canada. It’s not tragic it’s poetic
    irony.

    • Posted by KL KL, at Reply

This is funny but I worry so many will use it as validation.

When you say Christian like the past I’m sure you mean Puritans, Quakers,
Episcopalian, Roman Catholic, Deist or Judaism right?

I really really hope you’re joking in a hyperbolic manner. The U.S.
Military is composed of nearly 30% non-whites for males and almost 50%
non-whites for females. Most if not all of those white folks in the
military would sooner bash your teeth in than engage in Genocide in America.

    • Posted by rathernot, at Reply

+1202_ProgramAlarm Well if he was licenced then he would know that you
should never pass a loaded firearm to someone not fully competent, he
wouldn’t have the firearm loaded in the first place, he would have had a
trigger or chamber lock on the gun, etc. His blunder could have been
prevented through the education that is required for a licence, not just
      the licence itself.

+Daniel Delos I’m not opposed to background checks. Violent felons,
domestic abusers and other people like that shouldn’t be allowed to buy
guns. But most people with “mental illness” are no more dangerous than
everyone else, so taking away their gun rights to me is a form of
discrimination. And things like the no fly list lack transparency and due
process. These are just some of the reasons I’m against many of the
measures proposed by the gun control crowd.

    • Posted by randomflashbacks, at Reply

professional soldiers. (arguably the BEST trained/armed & MOST professional

Do you actually think everyone in the military would willing agree and
fight for a totalitarian government? Do you think not a single one of them
would rebel? Do you think the people would not form militias to combat such
a government? Yeah, they have drones, tanks, jets, bombers, etc, but using

Sweetheart, you didn’t prove I’M the idiot- you missed the entire point of
the argument, and in fact, made my argument FOR me. The purpose of my
rhetorical questions was to demonstrate why comparing guns to fast food is
an invalid analogy and thus imply the answer to the posters question of why
we “regulate guns and not fast food”: because guns are instruments of
homicide and fast food is not, and the cause and effect relationship
between food consumption and death is protracted and indirect, whereas the
relationship between getting hit by a bullet and dying is direct and in
many cases immediate. You made YOURSELF look like an idiot by responding to
ideas that were presented in a non-literal fashion as though they were
intended as an absolute sincere inquiry. Everyone else understood that
except you, you look like an absolute tool be responding in such a manner.
I ask you again to provide apples to apples data that shows that proves
that intentional vehicular homicide is on a par with murders committed by
guns. I will not stop asking. But it isn’t because I believe you can prove
that they are, it is because I already know that they are not, and that
your analogy is invalid, and I ask you to acknowledge that use of vehicles
is heavily regulated already, and thus you comparing guns to cars does not
support an argument that guns should not be regulated in any fashion. And
don’t even start with bans, because no one here has said they should be
banned, certainly I did not. If you don’t have an answer, then you should
      stop talking.

bedroom in case the intruder saw movement in the house. Instead she phoned
her friend who lived next door, who woke up her dad, who called all the men
