Can someone explain to me why a defence for his lies is to accuse others of lying? He is lying NOW as the President ! He lied during his election campaigning, as a president elect and now as POTUS. He is immoral, unpresidential, unqualified and lacking in all the skills required to do a serious, World affecting job and all he can do is lie about his numbers etc. Talk about missing the point!!

I find it amazing that people still believe he is going to build some huge boarder wall – it’s not going to happen. At most there will be limited construction on an insignificant percentage of the boarder, probably mostly fence rather than wall. Trump is a failure, he can’t accomplish such a huge task as building a boarder wall even if you gave him a trillion dollars to do it with. And is anybody going to be surprised when Trumps fence/wall that barely covers any of the boarder ends up being built by illegal immigrants he says are stealing our jobs? It will happen almost for certain, just as it has any other time they’ve built fences at the boarder.

And in any case that wall will stop nothing. At least the Mexican ladder industry will profit from it.

Those who favor a wall may think this is a smart move. However, there’s a catch. Taxes on imports, otherwise known as duties, aren’t paid by the companies sending goods from other countries, as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection explains.

he importer is ultimately responsible for paying any duty owed on an import. Determining duty can be very complicated, and while shipping services will often give an estimate for what the duty rate on an item might be, only CBP can make a final determination about what is owed. You should not be misled into thinking your purchase price includes duty because the seller cannot say with absolute certainty what the duty will be. As a rule, a purchase price that includes shipping and handling does not include duty or any costs associated with clearing the goods through CBP. First time importers are often surprised by bills they receive for duty, U.S. Customs and Border Protection merchandise processing fee, and something referred to as “customs fees,” which are actually charges for the services of the broker who cleared your goods through CBP.

The entities responsible for paying the tax are the companies in the U.S. that are importing the goods. They, in turn, pass the costs along to their customers, which eventually charge consumers. And even if somehow the U.S. could force Mexican companies to pay the duties, those companies would just raise their prices to cover the extra cost.

In other words, Americans will pay for the wall through an additional tax embedded, which is effectively invisible to consumers, into the price of many products they purchase. According to the U.S. Trade Representative’s office, in 2015 the U.S. imported $316.4 billion in goods from Mexico. That’s vehicles, machinery, mineral fuels, and optical and medical instruments. All sorts of items and services will become more expensive, making an implicit tax on many types of consumption that cause the heaviest burden to those with the least income and wealth.

Trump loves the poorly educated…. Isn’t that right, Trumpster?

Kenny Clay oh yeah the Electoral College where we have 12 swing States meaning that the entire election can be decided by less than a quarter of the country that really seems fair. we use popular votes for every other aspects of our election system the presidency should be no different.

    • Posted by Nik S, at Reply

Kenny Clay You’re actually the one who is not very smart. You clearly have not looked at polling in regards to this specific matter. A survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that 58 percent of Americans oppose new spending for the border wall, while just 28 percent support it. If you’re going to call out people for stupidity, look in the mirror first and do your research.

      – Actually the wall and repealing Obamacare are two of Trump’s main campaign promises. His election constitutes a mandate from The People to act on these points.
