" Recently, a photograph that appeared to reveal six females putting on burqas on a bus triggered a heated discussion in an exclusive Facebook group for Norwegians critical of immigration.

For several participants of the team, which is called "Fedrelandet viktigst" or "Fatherland initially," the image encapsulated the issues Norway was dealing with after an increase of Muslim immigrants in the previous couple of years.

It additionally played right into a continent-wide dispute concerning Islamic dress throughout Europe. Norway's conservative government lately suggested a legislation that would certainly ban some kinds of outfit worn by Muslim ladies in schools and colleges– the first Scandinavian nation to do so.

The burqa, a long, loose shroud worn by some Muslims in Afghanistan as well as other components of South Asia, would be restricted under the legislation, as would the face-covering niqab a lot more generally worn in Arab nations. Masks as well as various other things of clothes that cover the face would also be limited."

Yeah, the Old Testament is just as nasty as the Koran. But Islam right now is certainly having a hoot living (and dying) their bad stuff a whole lot more than the J and C’s. Hope the tide doesn’t turn some day and Exodus and Leviticus are used as “How To” books once again.

Islam is not a race, how many times must we go over this

    • Posted by djaceman123, at Reply

+realCevra If a white person is a Muslim, are they half-white, half-Muslim? No. They are white racially but belong to a certain culture (Islam). I like to play video games, does that mean I should put down “Gamer” as my race? Do you see how ridiculous that is?

Allowing these things to suddenly be up for full interpretation based on arbitrary bullshit is a slippery regressive slope and the reason we now have 100 genders.

    • Posted by realCevra, at Reply

*are they half-white, half-Muslim?* they are both white and muslim, and if you discriminate against them based on any of those group affiliations you are a racist
*They are white racially* there is no such thing as ‘racially’.
*does that mean I should put down “Gamer” as my race?* if your country recognizes that as a racial group you should, does it?
*Do you see how ridiculous that is?* no, race is free to be defined like any populace likes, it’s a social construct

    • Posted by xybersurfer, at Reply

IdarkphoenixI you are only right technically. in practice it’s closely tied to the middle east

Jenny Talwarts – a symbol of oppression? Maybe you feel that way but my understanding is that burkas and such are cultural attire and worn willingly.

    • Posted by Benji, at Reply

    • Posted by chloweful, at Reply

    • Posted by djaceman123, at Reply

+Oldeuboi LOOOOL Race is a social construct?! How regressive can you possibly get?! Are different breeds of dog a social construct? Or are there actually PHYSICAL differences between them? Same goes for humans. It’s call “evolution” and adapting to the surroundings.

Antisemitism CAN be considered racism as “Jewish” is also a race of people, you moron. Where the hell were you educated? A 10 year old could tell you that.

Honestly, I have no idea where people like you come from. There must be a factory somewhere dedicated to churning out stupid people.

By the way, you might be dumber than a brick, but I do admire your tenacity. I’ve noticed that dimwits quite effectively use tenacity to wear out their opponents. Almost like as compensation mechanism.

They do, on ethnic grounds-far more so. Some call it “race” some “ethnicity”. I wouldn’t argue about the name I just acknowledge that whatever it is – it’s real.

Is it racist to want to preserve your western democracy against people who bring with them backwards, undemocratic ideals? I feel bad for them because they’re also victims of their own culture but shouldn’t Europeans have the right to preserve their way of life?

bgnore Can you please stop talking about topics that you know nothing about? The term “Arab” is not synonymous with “middle eastern.” Arabs are a distinct ethnic group. Albeit, most modern day Arabs were “Arabized” from other groups over a thousand years ago but that’s a whole other conversation. Kurds, Assyrians, Afghans, Iranians, etc are NOT Arabs. They don’t even speak Arabic, they have their own language, culture and traditions. Yazidi’s and Alevis are religious groups. The Middle East and Northern Africa is a very diverse place with a multitude of ethnic groups other than Arabs, Arabs are probably just the most well known.

Wait, I thought TYT was for equality among the sexes? You can’t support Muslims and equality at the same time, it’s an oxymoron, you idiots.

    • Posted by John Myers, at Reply

Mexican Muslim Turk, want to go by that logic then no one can be a Christian or Catholic and be for equal rights/treatment for women.

    • Posted by Christian Knuchel, at Reply

+Mexican Muslim Turk : They aren’t supporting *Islam* , quite the opposite, and Cenk made that clear enough in the video by pointing out his overall anti-religious stance. Furthermore, if we want to get semantic, supporting *Muslims* and supporting equality at the same time are a perfect combination, in the sense of supporting Muslims (or other religious people, especially when it comes to rather unhealthy belief systems) in shedding their doctrinal shackles.

I know you’re trolling, but, come on. Even the very premise of your argument is flawed. You don’t even need to drop half a hat for it to just evaporate to thin air at an eye corner’s glance.

  13. Posted by ERAUPRCWA, at Reply

TYT was too nice on this. They tried to explain and excuse the idiots who thought bus seats were Muslim women. No. They’re hatred for Islam has clouded their judgement to believe that bus seats are Muslim women in burqas. This is the problem in the world. People scared of what they don’t understand.

I feel that any society that forces women to cover their nipples has no right to criticize the Burqa.

    • Posted by Exgrmbl, at Reply

Nonsense. Just because there is no absolute freedom on one side doesn’t mean that you can’t note that it still offers vastly more freedom than the other side. It is relativist nonsense. There is a marked difference between not being able to show everything but a small surface area of your body and not being able to even show your face.

    • Posted by RiotforPeacePlz, at Reply

Johnyliltoe don’t 4get they enjoy mutilating little boys just in hopes of preventing masturbation.

    • Posted by Johnyliltoe, at Reply

+Exgrmbl It doesn’t negate the hypocrisy. Regardless of what’s being covered, if there’s a double standard between men and women then it’s oppressive. The fact that it’s marked down in law makes here makes it worse. Honestly though, it comes down to judging before knowing the whole situation. If a woman feels oppressed by the burqa she should receive support to make the decision to get out of it. If she does like the burqa, she shouldn’t have to trade an oppressive husband for a bunch of oppressive strangers that force her to take it off.

+RiotforPeacePlz That would be the origins of circumcision as well, which is still practiced by many people today even if the reason may have changed. Besides, I’m not so much trying to defend Islam so much as break our own culture’s oppressive and archaic practices. We should really stop pointing the finger at others instead of trying to improve ourselves.

    • Posted by xybersurfer, at Reply

Johnyliltoe are you saying that the Burqa does not have to cover the nipples?

  16. Posted by Sean Hayes, at Reply

If anything it trolls Muslims, lol… if your religion tells you to dress like a bus seat, there’s an issue.

    • Posted by Exgrmbl, at Reply

You are an imbecile. What I am clearly referring to is the fact that the burqa is mainly an instrument of female oppression. A piece of clothing that is mostly worn under the constant threat of corporal punishment that destroys all individuality.

Do you take any time to try to honestly understand what other people write? that’s not remotely what is implied in my comment. What I meant was that the burqa is such a ludicrous garment that it makes it possibly for people to mistake objects for people and vice versa.

    • Posted by RiotforPeacePlz, at Reply

Sean Hayes suppose to be garbage bags. Damn racists.
