" Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) proposed on Friday that healthcare facility emergency rooms must have the ability to transform clients away in order to help maintain healthcare expenses down.

" I'm an emergency clinic registered nurse," Black told MSNBC host Chuck Todd on Friday. "There are individuals that entered into my emergency room that I, the nurse, was the first one to see them. I might have sent them to a walk-in facility or their doctor the following day, but because of a legislation that Congress took into place to state, no, I have to deal with everyone that strolls into that emergency room."

" You eliminated our ability to claim, 'No, an emergency clinic is not the correct place.' And then, you placed a worry in addition to that to say, 'You have to do that,'" included the congresswoman, that is also running for guv of Tennessee.

At issue is the Emergency situation Medical Therapy and Active Labor Act, which was signed into law by previous President Ronald Reagan in 1986. It was a legislative reaction to tales of "patient disposing"– medical facilities would certainly refute treatment to individuals or send them elsewhere, usually because the individuals really did not have insurance coverage. Most of these individuals were unemployed or were individuals of shade.

Those moved individuals were more probable to pass away, and the delayed treatment typically endangered the clients' wellness."

the GOP should just go ahead and say what they really mean:. the lives of the non wealthy don’t matter at all.

So if people could actually afford healthcare that would take the pressure off of emergency rooms right?

Jenna Ramos | I know, the hypocrisy is so evident it’s ridiculous. I think I’m gonna be sick. Excuse me *goes and pukes for 30 minutes* Phew, back. I’ve almost completely lost faith in humanity.

I know how horrible the emergency rooms are. I won’t go into the specifics but, one time, I was dying so we went to the emergency room. While my life was hanging by a thread; they prioritized a rich person with a fever, not the dying me since I was, at the time, middle class. We’re in a lower bracket now than we were then. All the while, my mom was screaming at the top of her lungs and cursing, something she NEVER does.

Their argument for taking away healthcare was you could go to the emergency room now they want to take that away too

I know, isn’t it wild? If healthcare is taken away, and you can’t go to the emergency room, WHERE THE F*** DO YOU GO FOR HEALTHCARE?!?!

Iā€™m currently going into medical school and would happily treat anyone that would come to the ER

    • Posted by OMG A UNICORN, at Reply

You say that now, until you actually have to deal with it.

    • Posted by Bear Arms, at Reply

Siro Mohamed it won’t be your call to make. Aand you’ll be so busy filling out paperwork you won’t have extra time to spend with patients.

Perhaps this would work if the “24 hour” clinic that accepted “uninsured” patients was located in the same building or right next to the hospital!

Or we could just go with Trump’s solution…smart people don’t get sick. Which is kind of a conundrum, since Trump is the biggest dippshit ever in the oval office, and according to his doctor…very healthy. We’re not of course talking about his mental health…which is questionable at best.

Seriously, how do some of those politicians win those seats?

    • Posted by Fuck Slut, at Reply

Michael Lopez because as long as people aren’t using certain rights or privileges, they feel that obviously other people don’t need them. It’s not until a disaster happens to them that they realize they messed up.

She is a fascist. Most Republicans harbor fascism deep in their personalities.

She needs a head check work at an ER and don’t know she’s sicker than the patient’s.

Nurses aren’t qualified to diagnose someone based on symptoms. Nurses like her hate being nurses, and wish they were doctors instead.

cmbsoldja Actually triage is staffed by nurses

Again, not much to see here. Republicans once again proving to the world Conservatism is nothing but a Death Cult.

I live in a rural area and we have no UrgentCare or other such places, no choice but to go to the emergency room, especially for poor people. Repeal this law, people will die. It’s as simple as that.

I hope that Diane Black has a heart attack & is told to the local clinic the next day !

  14. Posted by Kris Stout, at Reply

What a terrible human being. I hope she’s not claiming to be a Christian. She isn’t, she’s the exact opposite. She’s talking like a death panel for the elderly and poor.

    • Posted by Jeremy Black, at Reply

Incorrect. She has a high probability of identifying herself as Christian.

    • Posted by Kris Stout, at Reply

Damn man , that’s just sad. If people have no clue that she and others spew the exact opposite of Christ’s teachings. So much hate so much ignorance in our country

I went into the ER with abdominal pain and a fever. One hour later I was under the knife. Representative Black would rather I went home and died apparently.

    • Posted by ćƒŠć‚³ćƒ«ćƒ« Princess, at Reply

Gilgamesh Don’t you still have to pay?

I thought you guys still had to pay regardless whether it’s an emergency or not… Someone said even if you get caught up in a mass shooting, you still have to pay.

    • Posted by Amanda Bell, at Reply

Princess–you pay what you can afford. If you can’t afford anything, you let the billing department know and they will either work with you or your bills will be covered by taxpayer money, yes, even in a mass shooting unless there is a responsible party (other than the shooter) whose gross negligence led to the shooting (but those lawsuits have been dismissed by every judge so far–see “Aurora Colorado Movie Theater Shooting”–there are so many, they each are named by their location now, which is utterly sad).

I rarely post because people are so hateful & horrible but this story hurts so much because I’ve witnessed a PREGNANT uninsured woman be turned away by multiple hospitals. She was turned away in the middle of miscarrying her child. Bottom line, a life died that day. Maybe it could have been prevented. This may not be the country we should be, but it is the country we are. We must do better.
