Spoiler: it will profit billionaires while bankrupting as well as killing hundreds of Americans. Cenk Uygur as well as John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, review. Tell us just what you assume in the remark area listed below.

" Home Republicans show up closer than ever to rescinding and also changing the Affordable Care Act, after your home Liberty Caucus formally recommended a changed version of the GOP health care bill as well as moderates looked to be mostly supporting the adjustments.

It's still an actual concern whether Republicans have the votes. There were nearly sufficient moderates openly opposing the health care expense prior to a modification worked out in between co-chairman of the moderate Tuesday Group Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) as well as Liberty Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) dragged the regulation also additionally to the right. However those adjustments, which would considerably weaken defenses for people with pre-existing problems, have swayed a large swath of conservatives.

The Flexibility Caucus introduced Wednesday that a minimum of 80 percent of its team of three dozen participants sustained the modified expense, implying at the majority of there are seven conservative holdouts from the caucus. At the very same time, moderates do not seem to be substantially withdrawing their support of the expense, even as the legislation would certainly currently allow states to let insurance providers use substantially greater prices for sick people." *.

Cowboys24242424 Your premiums skyrocketed because your healthcare company decided to raise them. There isn’t anything else to it, Obamacare does not have a “raise the premiums annually” mandate and we both know it. You’re not forced to pay for anything because the individual mandate does not actually have an enforcement arm so I don’t know why you chose a plan that cost you more. Everyone is not covered under Obamacare that is a fact that we can both agree upon, but that’s simply because it doesn’t go far enough, we still have people that can’t afford insurance which is a serious issue. The affordable care act is not considered a failure by the majority of Americans but Obamacare is less preferred than the affordable care act. You know why? Because one of them has the name Obama attached to it. So no it isn’t failing if most Americans still like it and want to keep it.

As for your comment on rates rising,

      https://www.google.com/amp/www.cnbc.com/amp/2014/06/04/health-plans-had-big-premium-hikes-before-obamacare.html

An excerpt from the article just for you,

“In Arizona, Cigna wants to hike its rates an average of 14.4 percent. Humana is asking for a whopping 25.5 percent average increase, according to the Arizona Republic.”

More people have insurance so insurers are charging more for extra profit as you can see.

Now if you have a problem with Obamacare then we should cut the middle man of insurance companies out completely and just have single payer in my opinion. But the argument that Obamacare is failing is patently false. It’s actually the opposite.

    • Posted by DucksDoctor, at Reply

Cowboys24242424 Again if your issue is with the fact that we pay, for profit companies for Healthcare and they literally decide whether or not you can get that medical procedure. Then yes I’m right there with you cowboy, Obama should not have passed a republican health care plan. He should have passed a progressive healthcare bill like single payer. Our taxes would cover our medical bills. There’s no, insurance or doctor choosing bs with single payer now is there? Are you for, just going to the doctor and not getting a bill, and not having to worry about a monthly premium at all?

    • Posted by Cowboys24242424, at Reply

+DucksDoctor u do realize single payer would result in higher taxes and even more “free riding” citizens taking advantage of the system? It’s been proven the overall quality of health care would deplete in single payer system along. What would be the incentive for cheaper options if it’s a single pay system? I don’t know how effective it would be

    • Posted by DucksDoctor, at Reply

Cowboys24242424 Well considering almost every other first world country has decidedly gone with single payer and not our system, I think it’s a safe bet that it works. There won’t be a need for cheaper options if our tax money covers everyone there won’t be any extra bills.

I see your point on the “free riding citizens”, argument. But I think you have a fundamental and ethical misunderstanding of healthcare. Note: (this isn’t supposed to be a personal attack on you). Let me explain by asking you a few questions. Do you think that some citizens are “free riding”, by having full access to the police department or the fire department or our highway system and protection from the US military? I don’t think you do, because I don’t think you’re nuts. These are all socialist institutions by definition because our tax money goes to them and they offer unconditional service and protection to the public. You don’t pay an officer for saving your life and you don’t pay a fire fighter for putting the fire out. The same should apply to the final metric shouldn’t it? Does it make sense for us to personally foot the bill for a life saving cancer operation (instead of a fire or armed assailant). No it doesn’t. Our taxes should cover our well being and education before all else, right?

Finally I wanna close with the argument about “rationing care”. That gets tossed at single payer, there is no such thing as rationing care in first world countries. People with critical life or death situations get pushed to the front of the line as they should. Then cosmetic surgeries (like breast enlargement or nasal alteration surgeries) have a wait time. Which makes perfect sense. This is why some people (with a lot of money) may come to America only to get cosmetic work done because they only care how big your wallet is. While life saving surgeries are always done in single payer countries if possible.

This, along with the new tax plan and their barbaric climate policies just show that Republicans are OK with dismantling civilization as long as the byproduct of that is slightly more money for the already wealthy. And their idiot voters actually think that these are serious people with actual ideas, when in reality, any feigned ideological stand they make is simply an excuse made up after the fact.

    • Posted by Fluxquark, at Reply

Trollop 7 You are so brainwashed, it’s unbelievable. Only a miniscule fraction of the federal and state budgets go to welfare in the sense of helping poor people. Every year, billions upon billions are spend on corporate welfare. The fossil fuel industry is subsidized at $10.000.000 a minute! Just as bailouts the banks got billions of dollars when they crashed the economy in 2008, instead of being punished for being irresponsible. And they still get billions a year in quantitative easing. All paid by the tax payers because dunces like you think “the real problem is that poor people are leeching of off the rest of everyone because they’re lazy welfare queens”. Stop deluding yourself please, the rich are playing you like a fiddle.

    • Posted by James Rounding, at Reply

Fluxquark to add to your statement when the banks were getting bailed out the home owners who were being evicted from their houses weren’t. Then investors were buying up those properties for pennies on the dollar. So in the crash multiple things were a result. 1. banks were bailed out. 2. people lost their houses due to the banks changing the interest rate on their mortgage. 3. investors made millions off of these foreclosed houses (The same people who were bailed out). If that is not crony capitalism I don’t know what is.

I believe the term was “death panels.” You can thank Sarah Palin for popularizing that nonsense. Death squads, to quote the Wikipedia entry, are:

Armed groups that conduct extrajudicial killings or forced disappearances of persons for the purposes of political repression, genocide, or revolutionary terror. These killings are often conducted in ways meant to ensure the secrecy of the killers’ identities.

Give our administration a couple of years, they’ll be happy to set up the latter for America too.

    • Posted by Luis & Julia Torres, at Reply

And haven’t you read that Princeton study? We’re an oligarchy. Shake off that myth of democracy.

    • Posted by Leo Yohansen, at Reply

The fact that Americans refuse to become a democracy makes them deserving of their fate. To this day, Switzerland is the only democracy in modern history. The United Stats is a republic with only 24 states that are actual democracies. That’s less than half the states of the union and even those states had democracy imposed upon them by enlightened statesmen without a demand from the people. Nothing has ever prevented the Americans of the 24 democracy states from voting for single payer health care in each of their states and then linking those systems together into a coherent whole. Nothing has ever prevented Americans from doing this throughout the nation at the municipal level. Americans complain about the people they elect while ever ignoring the issues they could vote directly upon thus eliminating the blame game. The elitist founders of the United States created a republic. It’s up to the American people to create a democracy.

It’ll be roughly half of what they pay for insurance while no longer having to pay for that insurance.

    • Posted by R. m, at Reply

@kickinitoldschool03 Single payer is way cheaper than the current system, have you ever bothered to see how much does it cost to the populations of Canada, Australia, Singapore, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, U.K, France or Germany?

      https://berniesanders.com/issues/medicare-for-all/

    • Posted by Zeldagigafan, at Reply

Kick, first off a single payer system/medicare for all would be cheaper. With private insurance as mandated by the ACA, a minimum of 80% of your premiums goes to actual coverage, while medicare has that number at 94%. Secondly, if everyone has insurance there’s little reason to not visit your doctor at the first sign of trouble. Thirdly, when people are unable to pay for their hospital bills, the taxpayers ultimately foot the bill.

  19. Posted by Twostones00, at Reply
