When Republicans combat dirty as well as Democrats help them, The U.S.A. loses. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us just what you believe in the comment area listed below.

" Senate Republicans on Thursday had the ability to advance the confirmation of Court Neil Gorsuch, Head of state Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, after conjuring up the so-called "nuclear option" to get rid of the filibuster on Supreme Court candidates. Gorsuch will likely obtain his last confirmation ballot, an up-or-down vote he is anticipated to pass, on Friday.

After Democrats placed a filibuster to block Gorsuch, the Us senate voted along celebration lines, 52-48, to overrule the current rules regarding High court elections, enabling Republican politicians to take the cloture vote that finishes argument on the confirmation Thursday mid-day. That procedural showdown was highly expected and also carefully followed the script of the parliamentarian auto mechanics anticipated.

Minority Leader Schumer (D-NY) had actually signaled last month that Democrats would certainly try to block Gorsuch by denying him the 60 votes necessary to conjure up cloture. By today it was clear that Democrats had accumulated the 41 votes needed to block Gorsuch from progressing. Democrats that did not vote Thursday to filibuster Gorsuch included Sens. Joe Manchin (D-VA), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Michael Bennett (D-CO) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN)." *.

Great Trump is pushing use into World War 3. And for what, an action that there is still no evidence on who did it. In fact it smell more like the Rebels which are associated with Alquada, because they attack two hospital. For Assad that not a smart thing to do when your soldier will be going there at time. So we were damned, Trump want WW3, and Hillary wanted WW3.

Reddit’s /r/politics is an even bigger clusterfuck than youtube comments, but it’s pretty damn near instantaneous.

    • Posted by Chris L, at Reply

+Darrel Sutterfield, it’s in the constitution. The President nominates somebody and the Senate confirms them. This kind of apologistics is what’s destroying this country. For close to 240 years that’s how it’s worked. The President would nominate somebody for the Supreme Court and the Senate would examine their record and credentials and give it an up or down vote.

In no instance ever, has the Senate refused to do that much so they could steal the nomination for their party. Nor have they blanket refused to confirm anybody at all for such a prolonged period of time.

In the beginning it was simple majority rule, filibustering was never meant to be part of voting, first filibuster happened in 1837,its a dutch word meaning pirate,it should never be anything but simple vote, period, filibustering shouldnt even be allowed,by any party.

    • Posted by Hazzycakes, at Reply

Filibustering is how you ensured a minority party still had some say. If everything is a simple majority, then the minority party never even has to be considered. You don’t understand how American government works, Timothy, and I’m not surprised.

Must be an Igbo Nigerian (I conjecture given the name, this isn’t mean as a pejorative).

Your comments are deplorable…and wrong. Read more. Gorsuch is the most pro-corporate SC Justice in YEARS, he is anti-abortion (if you are indeed Nigerian Igbo – again, not meant to be a pejorative – you are likely Anglican/Catholic Christian so I understand the Gorsuch fetish), pro-second amendment, anti AA, anti unionization, and a plethora of other abominable policy positions that fly in the face of any self-reflective modern intellectual.

    • Posted by nrellis666, at Reply

Whenever I heard Scalia described as a “strict constructionist” (mostly his own assertion), I wondered why it was that the “original intent” of any law just happened to be whatever was most beneficial to him, or his party, or his religion at that exact moment. People who describe themselves as strict constructionists are almost invariably exactly the opposite

    • Posted by Travis Rogers, at Reply

Scalia hated the Constitution. He was an enabler of corporate fascism because he and Thomas are on the take.

    • Posted by Rhythmicons, at Reply

nrellis666, I agree. They certainly won’t want to interpret the constitution in a way that rolls back their rights. For instance, if they didn’t own land they had no voting rights.

Republicans are so pitiful. Cheating is the only way they know how to “win”. They cheated on literally every single level…
Executive branch: Russians hacked the democrats and did everything in there power for a Trump win, Republicans also constantly made up lies about Hillary
Legislative branch: Republicans in congress gerrymandered to the extreme, and made it harder for the poor, the old, and minorities to vote
Judicial branch: Refused to even hear the sitting president’s nominee, then doesn’t get the votes needed, then changes the rules so they can still get there way.
Makes me sick to my stomach.

Cheating is how the establishment ALWAYS wins. We will NEVER win as long as we play by their rules because THEY MAKE THE RULES! Time to stop with the talk of reform and gradual change. All of this is specially designed by the establishment to keep us busy and distracted and give us false hope, but never actually posing a threat to their power!

The dems will try but they will probably fail next time. Hillary barely won the primary through scheming and trickery and now that Trump is president people are following everything he does. people have never been into politics as much as they are now. People are pissed and this anger is just going to fester over the next four years. Even trump’s own voters are starting to realize just how screwed they will be thanks to his policies. The status quo will not last much longer and it won’t be long until people start gathering at their state governments with pitchforks and torches.
