Against obstructionist Republicans, Obama admin phased out the bulk of private prison industry. Few has given them the due. Moral scums of Trump admin is doing everything in reverse. This Republican admin is the worst anti-liberty anti-humanity in modern history. We must not let America slip into the worst form of fascist states with giant predatory corporations actively seek to punish innocents.

A leftist complaining about the government spending the taxpayers money. What a joke.

Always pointed towards minorities. The US is already a police state run by the private industry. Also these people are put to work in many cases essentially creating a slave labor industry.

HAHA. Stupid TYT fan got his brain all mixed up with their race baiting bullshit.

    • Posted by Jaren C, at Reply

Greg Raines it’s not a police state. That’s just a number of people’s mentalities.

    • Posted by scotaloo7 7g7, at Reply

What do minorities have to do with this? Per capita, asian people get arrested less than white people.

This is simply a gift package for the prison industrial complex.

Hal Jordan and… citizens who don’t want criminals on our streets. Put em in jail, or put em in a ditch.

    • Posted by Kathryn Geeslin, at Reply

G Washington Check out what works. Various systems worldwide, observed in action over time, show that what feels satisfying produces more and deadlier crime, while what produces safer communities is less vengeful and overall less expensive. Can’t have both.So either kill the criminal in the act (self defense, what can I say, I’m Texan, sometimes it shows), or go for rehabilitation and swallow the vindictive streak. This also prevents a governor ordering execution for a prisoner who has been exonerated, or other disastrous mistakes. We might even learn to find it “satisfying”, sort of.

This is exactly what BLM and other anti police brutality activist were warning people about, raising police officers to a special class of citizen by hero worshiping them and passing all of these “bluelivesmatter” laws. Thats what you get when you give police unchecked power and the unquestionable benefit of the doubt…a police state.

    • Posted by scotaloo7 7g7, at Reply

*THE USA IS ALREADY A POLICE STATE.* Millions are jailed for nothing, more unarmed people (mostly blacks) were killed by the police right on the streets for no reason since 9/11 than the death toll of 9/11.

    • Posted by scotaloo7 7g7, at Reply

“more unarmed people (mostly blacks) were killed by police right on the streets for no reason since 9/11 than the death toll than 9/11.”
No evidence of it. Nothing but lies.

    • Posted by Stranger Happened, at Reply

Up to 200-400 unarmed people are killed by the police every year. Now do the math to see the death toll.

    • Posted by A Walker, at Reply

Not dem or rep, all americans are stingy, selfish assholes who only care about themselves. That’s why you’s are stuck fighting for crumbs while the rich meet in secret like bilderberg to keep you all fighting each other over things that don’t matter because it’s so easy for them. It used to be money you fight over, now it’s money and your feelings. America is doomed and the citizens are the ones responsible.

    • Posted by Jason Stump, at Reply

And they are using the ignorance of conservatives to get it there.

  17. Posted by JessieBanana, at Reply

Of course it’s not about justice. If it was, rape wouldn’t be a conviction where you never saw the inside of a prison.

    • Posted by JessieBanana, at Reply

I was referring to recent convictions of rape were the perpetrators received short sentences w/probation and other penalties instead of being sentenced to much time in jail. In Brock Turners case he was in jail for three months and the maximum time he could have been sentenced was only 10 or 14 years. While I generally don’t have a problem with sentencing people for less time, it’s completely insane and hypocritical, that three felony sexual assault convictions can have a shorter maximum sentence than some mandatory minimums for drug offences.

    • Posted by JessieBanana, at Reply

You can do research to find more examples, but it is truly disgusting and cringe worth material to sift through.

    • Posted by Cettywise, at Reply

+Christopher Craig and this displeases you?

    • Posted by Cettywise, at Reply

+JessieBanana kinda depends on the circumstances, dont you think? Or do you think judges aren’t doing their jobs?

Also, sexual assault does not equal rape. They are two different crimes…

  18. Posted by neil adlington, at Reply

Here’s a win-win solution; impose a “three-strike” mandatory, minimum on Wall Street, white collar criminals and thereby insure the health of THEIR institutions with THEIR incarceration.

    • Posted by Jeremy Julian, at Reply

Not at all, Jaren. They are.

    • Posted by Hazzycakes, at Reply

I would go so far as to say the majority know where the country actually needs to go, while a slim minority is actually taking us the opposite direction because their legislators have rigged the game at every step.
