Brexit designer Nigel Farage says that Muslim in the UK ought to be taken into camps. Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola, and also Jimmy Dore, the hosts of The Young Turks, simplify. Inform us what you believe in the comment area below.

" Individuals in Britain could start to ask for terrorist suspects to be put into internment camps if something is not done to prevent additional assaults after 3 major occurrences in three months, previous UKIP leader Nigel Farage says.

In a debate on the right-wing Murdoch-owned Fox News, Farage reviewed the suggestion of suspects being assembled and apprehended without test. Internment has rarely been made use of in the UK.

It was last made use of during the Troubles, in which thousands of Irish people thought of being involved with the Irish Republican Military (Individual Retirement Account) in the 1970s were rounded up.

" If there is not action, after that the phone calls for internment will certainly grow," Farage said.

" We have more than 3,000 individuals on a kind of well-known terrorist list, and also we're seeing and also checking their activities, but a further 20,000 people who are individuals of interest, mostly they're linked in some way to extremist companies.

" Unless we see the federal government getting hard, you will see public calls for those 3,000 to be detained," he said.

" I'm unsure that is the best method due to the fact that the big danger keeping that is we might alienate decent fair-minded Muslims in Britain," Farage went on to say."

I also completely agree with your assessment of the effectiveness of social media. The medium itself has flaws. I feel that, in general, it has had a disastrous impact upon democracy. With the internet flooded with opinions of little to no merit and appeals to sophistry and conspiracy drowning out any rational debate or expertise, rather than empower the voice of the public, it has left most arguing ever more furiously with unseen foes and left with heightened feelings of anger and dissatisfaction. I think it has probably increased the general sense of unhappiness with political systems in all countries, irrespective of whatever the actual situations in different countries might actually be.

    • Posted by Nicholas Bilic, at Reply

what hypothetical, the fact that there are many jihadists in London and many European Muslims support/would aid a terrorist.

    • Posted by MinesAGuinness, at Reply

The hypothetical that you have an elementary listening comprehension. Mr Farage explicitly states a hypothetical: “If there is no action, calls for internment will grow.” There is going to be action in the defense of this country from terrorism and increased efforts to prevent extremism. Anyone who doubts this is not rational. I hope you can follow the rest of his conditional proposition.

    • Posted by Sondra H, at Reply

Zohm B ooooo… your language is so witty 😐

    • Posted by TechGroupF430i, at Reply

Believe it or not Lemmiwinks, Alex Jones called for both. Around 2010/2011, he claimed that Obama would find some excuse like a terrorist attack (or “false flag operation”) to call for Marshall Law (thus the FEMA camps). He also claimed that in 2012, both the U.S. dollar and Euro would collapse, the war with Iran (after they take the first shot) would’ve been started to keep Obama in office, and that 401k would crash in favor of streamlining gold.

The hobbit home thing was much more recent, most likely in response to the repeated calls for gun control or gun law reform. (STILL haven’t gone door to door to grab those guns.) This was “reinforced” by the “false flag operation with child actors” known as Sandy Hook. Just when it started to fade away (albeit David Wolfe posted a video of the hobbit home set used in LOTR that’s now being used as a tourist attraction), Jones actually tried to resurrect his claims stating that it would in fact be Hillary Clinton to do both the hobbit homes and FEMA camps.

mMaxwell_ 007 Correction on a Correction – Catholics are Christians. Though I’ve never believed a word of it, my family is Catholic. I intended Catholic school and was dragged into a church every Sunday of my childhood. I had to listen to an “authority” tell me about Jesus Christ at least an hour a day 6-7 days a week for the first 17 years of my life. Catholics think Jesus is divine. That, by definition, makes them Christian. It’s just a different sect of the same overall belief system. There are Baptists and Methodists on my dad’s side. I’ve attended those services as well. The only difference is the noise level and the color of the suits. To a non-believer, there’s nothing special, or even notably different, about your service versus any other.

i know right, why tick them off with internment camps, when you could just make the religion illegal and punishable by death.

    • Posted by gatesbrown26, at Reply

Slightly misleading title? ‘Muslim internment camps’ makes it sound as if they’re calling for detaining people in camps simply for being Muslim, which would obviously be awful. But I don’t see the issue with jailing people who are linked to extremist groups or even sympathize with the likes of ISIS, because it could save lives. What’s to stop an extremist getting in a car and just mowing people down?

    • Posted by b95, at Reply

Jessica Cyr but there’s a difference between being a woman who isn’t fond of men, versus actual extremist apocalyptic fanatics who worship death and literally want to kill people who don’t share their views

    • Posted by Jessica Cyr, at Reply

Of course there’s a difference. But just like you can’t round up every angry divorcee, you can’t just round up every Muslim until you don’t don’t feel afraid anymore.

    • Posted by Catastrophic Broccoli, at Reply

+b95 What does “linked” to extremists mean? So if someone’s brother left his family and went off to join ISIS…better intern the entire family. Even if they haven’t spoken to him in years? How sure are you that not a single one of your FB friends isn’t linked to ISIS? You’re FB friends with someone linked to ISIS! We’d better lock you up. You might get in a car and mow people down.

Perhaps you’re not familiar with the concept that you shouldn’t lock people up until they’ve actually committed a crime?

    • Posted by b95, at Reply

Jessica Cyr ’rounding up every Muslim’ would be disgraceful and no one’s calling for that. Just individuals with blatant pro-Isis/extremist views

    • Posted by Jean-Philippe Viens, at Reply

ok NOUR TAHA… you named me 2 african countries, and also Eritrea your statistics is just not truth about 50% muslim 50% christians to be clear… When you compare all the muslim countries in general versus Christian countries you see it’s not even close for human rights. The christian countries respects so much more the rights of the individuals to practice because those christian countries(that’s pretty much all the western world) had a transformation, they secularize the government so that the religion had no more power.

    • Posted by Nour Taha, at Reply

Jean-Philippe Viens Jean-Philippe Viens see this is the problem. You put all Muslim countries in one as if Pakistan and Indonesia or Saudi Arabia and Tunisia are the same. I agree with you to some extent. A lot of Muslim countries have problems with extreme religious views and that religion has all the power. But not all. Lebanon, which is a Muslim country is completely secular. Tunisia, Indonesia, Algeria, Albania, Bosnia, Malaysia, and Morocco do as well. Don’t just take Saudi Arabia and Iran as examples. Those are the most extreme countries in the world. And on the fact of human rights, it also differs by country and leader. Indonesia (the largest Muslim country) has an amazing human rights record for example. Egypt, also an example does not due to unrest a irresponsible leader and economic instability. So just as I don’t group all Christian countries into one don’t due the same with Muslim countries.

    • Posted by Nour Taha, at Reply

Jean-Philippe Viens so for u to say the Christian countries citizens have more rights is frankly stupid

In UK, you can’t detain a person without a warrant and a court hearing. Its your basic rights as a citizen. This is being used by laws in every country in this world that follow UN convention. So your preventive detention or internment is a literal crime against humanity.

    • Posted by Siddharth Birdi, at Reply

      Saibal Tewari

I totally agree that Preventive Detention has been misused, but the successful pacification of the insurgency in Punjab and the partial normalization in Kashmir could not have been brought about without the use of such measures. People like to have cheap grain and plentiful water, but they are loathe to find out what goes into keeping the grain cheap and water plentiful.

Insurgencies are always decades long affairs, so it is prudent to build enduring deterrent systems to induce people into doing the right thing and rehabilitation systems to induce defections, thus regardless of ISIS or whatever may come in the future and their particular actions, these steps have to be taken to ensure long term success.

Iran and Nigeria have been the most badly plundered oil states, yet I have never seen Iranians and Nigerians blowing themselves up. Bin Laden had praised the US during the Afghan Jihad in the 80s while Saudi Aramco plundered Saudi oil. It was the presence of the infidel US army in Saudi during the gulf war that pushed him into becoming anti american, i.e no oil, all religion.

    • Posted by Siddharth Birdi, at Reply

      berry oppai

Preventive detention is not punitive in nature, it is only used as a short term measure to prevent outbreak of violence and public disorder.
