" In February, pollsters at the Public Religion Research study Institute asked Americans about their impacts of discrimination in the United States. Two spiritual teams were consisted of on the list of those who could face predisposition: Christians and Muslims. Relying on that was responding to, the reactions were hugely various.

On the whole, individuals were twice as most likely to say Muslims face discrimination as they were to say the exact same thing about Christians. Democrats were four times more probable to see Muslim vs. Christian discrimination, as well as non-religious individuals greater than 3. White Catholics and also white mainline Protestants were both according to the American standard: Each team was about two times as most likely to say Muslims deal with discrimination as compared to just how they see the Christian experience."

Should Trump listen to progressives more?

    • Posted by John Smith, at Reply

What it comes down to is that “progressives” need to be willing to compromise on issues, just like the majority of mainstream democrats. What progress that did occur over the past 8 years was only made possible because Obama was willing to compromise with republicans. If the Trump Reign implodes in their faces now, which each day looks to be more like the case, that’ll only have happened because his administration refuses to compromise.

But make no mistake… Should a far left Trump-like figure ever arise as the harbinger of all things progressive, then the country will be in just as bad a direction than it is now.

Its not like progresives didnt listen to them I mean we were talking about trade, jobs, veterans crony capitalism.. All things they support.

The problem wasnt progresives not listening to them. The problem was the DNC forcing a person down everyones throat who not only did not listened to trump voters but also not to progresives.

k mn donald trump is a toilet butt baby. He is sexually attracted to his daughter and his wife wants nothing to do with his “mess” or even living with him. Please prove me wrong, I want him to prove me wrong but all he did was make a bunch of promises he can’t keep and I feel like intelligent people know they had heard and seen this before. It sorry but without consequences bad behavior doesn’t change. It just doesn’t. Do you make $100+k per year and then do as little as possible to get re-elected is just not right and over time, it can only rot from the inside out. If you don’t do your job you need to be fired, if you cost other people millions of dollars and then say talk to my lawyer, I have zero concern for your lifestyle mistress secret love babies secret male escort use and drugs and drinking and even driving after. These are real stories and I’m sorry but they are faaar more common when you do them as a public figure with the lives and health and safety of so many people. Ok one example, Mike Crapo, not kidding his name is Crapo. He is a Mormon “Teetotalist,” he was pulled over near wheee I loved at the time and blew over the legal limit, after this his blood was drawn and it was concluded that he had to have just consumed more alcohol before driving in order for his BAC to rise as much as it did due to digestion time. It’s all lies. Just watch them they bounce and smirk and laugh and look like a child when they lie

We only listen to the ones who aren’t bigoted and just wanted change and to make their lives better.

    • Posted by Lunarguard Gaming, at Reply

Im always confused by that do you think that all republicans just dont like poor people? Or that we’re just uncaring machines that are not even human? Maybe we just realize that current welfare is not the way to approach economics and the best way to have less poor people is through jobs. The less people we have on welfare and more people we have with jobs is our approach to economics… most of us are not bigoted along with most liberals its just the truth of the world

    • Posted by AlizarinRipley, at Reply

+Lunarguard Gaming Considering Democrats create twice as many jobs as Republicans it becomes obvious that the people who vote Republican dont actually care about getting people off of welfare.

    • Posted by Lunarguard Gaming, at Reply

AlizarinRipley see that’s the thing I was never arguing who does it better I was talking about the approach to welfare and jobs and anyways 1.you can’t prove that liberals provide more jobs the effects of presidencies are usually shown after the administration and 2. This video is literally calling every republican stupid not for policy not for who they are but simply because of their party affiliations

    • Posted by Leslie Morrison, at Reply

If that is what you understood from this video, chances are, you are a Republican.

    • Posted by Lunarguard Gaming, at Reply

Leslie Morrison ya I guess I did take it like that because I treat liberals and republicans as equal and there’s smart and stupid people on one side, and no matter how wrong a persons opinion is I won’t call them out on it and just approach it as a opinion, as this video doesn’t do. Literally Chenk is saying call people on the right stupid and not only that but says most people on the right lack intelligence… the entire video addresses the right as not only one entity but acting like they are sub intelligent

“But that’s not what people understand when you normally say libertarian. If you mean the tea-party ultra-right wing, Koch brothers…”

      – Actually that’s exactly what people normally understand, it’s simply not what people on the far-left understand it to be – which is unsurprising given the propensity of the far-left (and progressives in particular) to mischaracterise the views of those they disagree with inorder to dismiss their arguments.

      eg.
      – If you oppose abortion because you dont want unborn children to be murdered then they’ll say your a misogynist or oppose women’s rights.
      – In reality this position isnt misogynistic and any impact on the rights of women is completely incidental.

    • Posted by C.F. Gauss, at Reply

+types10000 Ok, i’ll bite. So let’s talk arguments then: Opposing abortion is the farthest thing from libertarianism I can imagine, it’s not just big government, it’s government so huge it reaches all the way into a woman’s uterus. It’s the ultimate violation of the right to privacy and self-determination. Whether it’s incidental or not doesn’t matter, I don’t care if your motivation for it is rooted in some pseudo-moral christian ideology or if you’re just doing it to control women and punish them for having a sex life uncontrolled by the patriarchy.

The result is the same: you strip away basic reproductive rights and endanger their health and their psychological wellbeing, not to mention the economic effects this kind of stupid policy could have. Just like it doesn’t matter how with what argument you would try to justify stripping away homosexuals’ rights or ethnic minorities’ rights, it doesn’t make it any less reprehensible and unacceptable for anyone who would call themselves libertarian.

Feel free to offer more easy targets to knock down.

    • Posted by types10000, at Reply

“Opposing abortion is the farthest thing from libertarianism I can imagine”
      – Not at all, the most basic function of the government is preserving individual’s civil liberties, one of which is right to life.

“it’s government so huge it reaches all the way into a woman’s uterus”
      – Incorrect, it is infact very small government wherein killing a child inside of the womb is no different than killing a child outside of the womb.
      – It’s a rejection of ‘special rights and privileges’ for women to be able to legally kill a child under a given set of circumstances. [I’m betting you’ll respond to this with an irrational emotional appeal]

“It’s the ultimate violation of the right to privacy and self-determination.”
No, there is infact already legal precedent for it:
      – We currently legally mandate fathers to pay child support for unwanted children (a direct impediment to their PERSONAL AUTONOMY).
      – A legal mandate for mothers to bring a pregnancy to term would interfere with their BODILY AUTONOMY in a similar manner.
      – There is no reason for why bodily autonomy should principally be anymore off-limits than personal autonomy.

“Whether it’s incidental or not doesn’t matter”
Incorrect, if my position is based on ‘wanting to prevent the murder of children’ and you mischaracterise it as ‘wanting to suppress the rights of women’ then you have committed a straw man logical fallacy; as the rights of women were infact incidental to my argument.

“Feel free to offer more easy targets to knock down.”
      – You must have beer goggles on because you’ve done nothing but miss 🙂

+bru numzy You are being *incredibly* misleading… Bill Clinton won the most votes of any runner in 1992 by 5.8 million people, and a little less than 8 million people in 1996. What you’re trying to say is that he didn’t win a popular *majority* thanks to Perot, but when we say who won the popular *vote*, we go by the person with the highest number at the end of the day.

The fact is that Bill Clinton got both the most individual votes AND the most electoral votes. We do not see that today.

What do liberal big city voters do for rural conservative voters?

    1. We pay higher taxes that goes to fund your low-tax state
    2. We pay higher health care costs because we don’t have horrible environmental laws and sedentary habits
    3. We offered Obamacare, expanded medicaid, and more.  We’d offer universal health care if they’d let us.
    4. We passed legal weed so we can stop the insane drug war and actively investigate medical uses for marijuana, and make money off it at the same time
    5. We want less dollars going to defense and more towards their welfare
    6. We would treat their kid strung out on meth as a health crisis and not just put him in jail
    7. We pay higher taxes and advocate for them to have better schools
    8. We subsidize their roads and post offices, and in some cases, their electricity
    9. We offered retraining and lower college tuition
    10. Ideally, we would want one person one vote, make it easier to vote, end gerrymandering, and get rid of the Electoral College, which would actually benefit them too
    11. We passed gay marriage and their gay friends and family can benefit too with no cost to them at all

and their reaction to all of this?

    1. They hate liberals, and in some cases want to kill us
    2. They blame us for their health care
    3. They want to use schools to push their religion
    4. They literally do not want black people to vote
    5. They think we’re taking their guns
    6. They think we want to raise their taxes
    7. They think WE’RE the moochers
    8. They want to limit our civil rights, even though gay marriage and reproductive rights literally cost them nothing and affect them not at all simply because they hate us
    9. They want to build a wall which will bring back zero jobs because they hate brown people
    10. They want to justify cops killing unarmed black people because they hate black people that much
    11.  They think WE are taking away THEIR rights because they don’t have the right to treat other people they don’t like as if they were subhuman any longer

Anyone want to explain to me why I should feel the slightest pang of sympathy for these pieces of garbage?

Start with listening. Perhaps SOME of their concerns in SOME cases are valid. My sense is that some Trump voters (especially those who voted Dem in the past) actually have an accurate diagnosis of some of the problems USA faces. Their cure in the person of Trump is a mistake of course. Listening to them could lead to a better understanding of why Dems lost and avoid another electoral loss. Do not fall in the self-serving comfortable trap of assuming that ALL Trump voters voted on the basis of racism, sexism, xenophobia and ignorance. In some respects, we are the ignorant ones.

    • Posted by jan luch, at Reply

Claire Hodge As a European I’ve always known what liberals in our systems stand for. It is about the same as your democrats, but we always new that their economic liberalism really means looking after corporate interests. Bernie Sanders and the progressives are social democrats. The two ideologies don’t go together. Social dems in europe share the same liberal values, but want more government control. You won’t get anywhere when the 2 try to work together as 1 party.

    • Posted by Claire Hodge, at Reply

      Jan Luch,

I pretty much agree with you on that one. BTW, I’m not American either. However, one of the reasons why I believe that Sanders would have been more likely to win the US general election is that he had a much better sense of some of the concerns of some of the Trump voters. That is effectively the reason I advocate for the benefits of listening as the DNC has really done a bad job of that (probably because they are far too wed to neoliberal ideology and profit from it) However, it behooves anyone who genuinely wants a better US to do so.

Perfect example: Ana shouldn’t say “I don’t respect any woman who voted for trump”

+Diva Artist respect is earnt no freely given because you think respect is just for you and they have the right to vote for who they please and do not need to seek your approval to do so and im sorry but your a little racist a person’s skin color should not determine how they vote or even be a factor there not your sheep to control or shame because you do not approve there individuals who decided for them self and your comment is prob them most ignorant thoughtless comment i read today you really should take a long look in the mirror maybe your the problem not them

      “Trump does not hate women.”

The guy said he never molested one of his victims, because she was too ugly to molest. Whenever he compliments a woman, or insults a woman, it’s always based upon their appearance, because the person behind the looks doesn’t matter to him. The guy is a misogynist.

“He has women in high positions in office.”

They either bought their positions, like Betsy DeVos, or they’re candy for his eyes, like Ivanka. He doesn’t respect them. He just uses them to get to a goal of his interest.
