Snowflake Sculptor Attacks Fearless Girl

Enjoyed the video ladies check these swimsuits out

An artist made a decision to earn a statement with his very own sculpture he put beside the Fearless Woman. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, the hosts of The Young Turks, inform you why he erected the 'pissing pug' there. Tell us exactly what you think in the comment area below.

" The "Brave Girl" sculpture— the one installed surrounding Wall surface Road's billing bull during this year's Women's History Month– has a brand-new decrier.

Artist Alex Gardega informed The New York Message that the proud, gangly girl "is company rubbish."

" It has nothing to do with feminism," the artist went on. "And it is a disrespect to the artist that made the bull. That bull had integrity."

To object, Gardega set up a job of his own: a shoe-sized pug peing at the woman's ankle joints. Unlike "Courageous Lady" as well as the economic area's renowned bull, the canine is a very carefully elegant work, instead of a reasonable one."

Let me rephrase that then. IF you are someone who lost their job and holds a conservative view, you are on the wrong side as trickle down economics doesn’t work and deregulating banks won’t get you your job back. And by “you,” I am referring to our little aforementioned hypothetical situation, obviously not you personally.

I think the pug makes a valid point. The fearless girl is an affront to art in general. You don’t just walk into a museum and slap a mustache on a painting just because you don’t like it. The pug shows how it breaks down civility and reduces art to meaningless babble like graffiti on a bathroom stall. It’s clear hypocrisy to take offense to the dog but not the girl.

    • Posted by BartJ583, at Reply

As has been pointed out before – the artist put the bull in the streets. If he does not want interaction with the public, he should have put it inside a room.

    • Posted by Sarah Bearheart, at Reply

Greasyspleen Its not hypocrisy at all because the objection to the dog isnt about simply changing the context of the art already installed, its about the _message_ it expresses. The girl statue was put there BECAUSE the context of the bull art changed BECAUSE of the context the bull artist placed the art in the first place. As an artist you dont get to control how your art is perceived once youve located it. Thats true of the fearless girl too, but its the _message_ of the pug people object to, NOT the placing of another piece of art in that location.

If anyone is a hypocrite its the pug artist, for undermining his own point about it being wrong to install art adjacent to already existing art. Either that is a wrong thing to do or it isnt. It makes him look petty minded and unnecessarily belligerent towards the message of the girl statue, which is positive and empowering.Maybe he hates the idea of young girls feeling empowered.

    • Posted by edcoded, at Reply

+BooBaddyBig It is still NOT about politics or message tho. permission was given to him. After the fact. The city could have had it removed, but the city saw it and decided to leave it. If he had wanted to place the bull in a place that would make it impossible to appreciate a previous art piece placed there, he’d be a hypocrite. I hope that was not what he did.

Somebody owns the monalisa. Do you think it’d be fair for the monalisa to be appreciated on top of some other piece that would make it impossible for people to appreciate it as DaVinci intended? There’s a reason they space out paintings at museums

  15. Posted by DefeatGlobalism, at Reply

As an aspiring artist I’d be extremely incensed if some feminazi exploited my art work to push her political agenda. Props to the artist for standing up for himself and his art…liberals are truly cancer.

+thewanderandhiscomp ” never mind, most MRAs are ragging it all the time”<--so asking feminist to not shut down male domestic abuse shelters is raging even though men are almost 50% of domestic abuse victims? so asking people to not laugh at men when they are abused by their wives and girl friends or treat them as criminals because they were abused as under the duluth model of domestic abuse is raging? asking people to not laugh at men when they say they have been raped is raging? of course there are extreme lunatics like black pigeon speaks but at least the MRAs aka MRM (mens rights movement) HAS ACTUAL PROBLEMS THEY TARGET! "bet your heroes are named James Worley, James Barton Horn, Robert E. Whiteside, Todd Koehlhepp, Timothy Ciboro"<--this is not a argument. " freedom speech, liberal ideal, Dr Lee's www protocol Liberal ideal, hmmm stay stupid it makes your toothless mommy proud"<--freedom of speech pre-dates the notion of liberal; in fact the idea of free speech came from right winged people some where in the 1600-1700s an quite possibly from before in Athens and the Roman Republic. meanwhile the notion of liberal aka liberal philosophy under John Locke was only in the 17th century. "the bull is about the wall steeet rip offs that since 89 has kept wages stagnant and taken homes away for 98 cents, don't your knees hurt working all day, but you get your protein, smegma licker"<--you have no idea why the bull was built do you? also from this passage i am assuming your a poorly educated communist?

  16. Posted by RadioactiveFox, at Reply

This is infuriating as an artist. It’s like someone coming over and adding a bunch of stuff to your drawing to give it an entirely different meaning than you intended. This is about respect for the bull’s artist and his art. If the person wanted to put up fearless girl and have it part of what the bull is doing (cause it is using the bull as if the two are together as a whole piece) then the artist should have been asked. And if he said no, they shouldn’t have. They should have made their own bull to make their own complete piece with their intended meaning. It’s okay for art work to change over time because of people viewing it differently but it’s very different for someone to change what your piece looks like as a whole.

    • Posted by fai365day, at Reply

      Cryptaris Protocol brilliant LMFAO

    • Posted by RadioactiveFox, at Reply

Each one does not require the other for their message, the bull did not require fearless girl for his intended message, it actually changed his message and that’s the whole issue here.
And just because it is in public space does not make it okay. I did not bring up legality or anything like that, I said it was about respect. Just because they could do it didn’t mean they should.
Political messages are great and should be made but this was done while shitting on another person’s political message. The fearless girl artist should have made their own bull or other symbol to represent it, and if they needed the image of the wallstreet bull, they should have made their own drawing or other piece instead of a statue that had to intrude on the bull.

    • Posted by Victor Espino, at Reply

the bull artist didn’t do it. the girl doesn’t make the bull look less awesome, the dog ruins the bull and the girl.

    • Posted by Tyson Phillips, at Reply

+crypt that is a straw man argument. Those are national monuments paid for by the ppl not an individual art piece in a public space. Any change done to those would require a vote by those who spend the people’s money and asp by us who supply it.

You know its the exact mentality of tyt that stops me from switching full on to the left. i agree on most foreign relation/economic issues. but what i dont agree with is this attacking of anyone who disagrees with you, blatant hypocrisy, and outrage culture that is far too prevelant in their particular political and social ideologies that would make being it utterly impossible for me to be willing to say that im a leftist/progressive.

    • Posted by Drm R, at Reply

Heres a crazy idea, people need to stop trying to fit into political sides. Both sides are exactly the same because they are people being told to hate the other side. Everyone spans the political spectrum no matter how much they try deny it.

  18. Posted by bryan gomez, at Reply

I’m a progressive as well, but your opinions on this issue are objectively stupid. Placing the statue of the girl directly in front of the bull completely changes the meaning set by the original artist. Without his consent, it’s simply wrong to do so. It’s equivalent to me gluing a mustache on the original Mona Lisa and saying that it now represents transgender rights. The proper way to challenge artwork is to create artwork of your own WITHOUT damaging, changing, or destroying the original piece. Every point you guys made such as “the girl is not an attack on you,” and “you shouldn’t feel this sensitive and this hurt over another statue” is completely irrelevant. On top of that, you’re being enormous hypocrites by saying the pissing dog shouldn’t be there. You don’t have the moral authority to decide what type of art is or isn’t acceptable to change. You either take the irrational position that original artwork is fair play to be directly altered by someone else, or you take the rational position that it isn’t.

    • Posted by bryan gomez, at Reply

Skyshadow38, a spectator is well within their right to interpret any artwork in a manner separate from what the artist intended, but he is not within his right to physically change the artists work in order to give it a different interpretation. Having the girl stand directly in front of the charging bull unites the two pieces thus creating something entirely different. The girl was put there for that exact reason. It doesn’t allow the bull’s artist to express his art how he wants to. The meaning of the piece and the spectator’s interpretation are irrelevant. I’m defending the artist and his right to express himself.

    • Posted by Humblyours23, at Reply

I completely agree with this. Don’t go around modifying art, create your own stand alone pieces in their own context.
‘Fearless Girl’ detracts from ‘The Bull’ in the exact same way ‘Peeing Dog’ detracts from ‘Fearless Girl’. If your art is only meaningful in the presence of another work, doesn’t that mean its just garbage? Fearless girl should be relocated.

    • Posted by Ruben Gloria, at Reply

bryan gomez actually your equivalent is wrong. It’s more like putting a painting next to the Mona Lisa. Oh wait. That happens all the time in museums.

    • Posted by jerrytown, at Reply

+Ruben Gloria actually your equivalency is imprecise.
Whatever the bull was meant to mean by the original artist, it was meant as a standalone piece.

The brave girl statue was not created as a standalone piece, the art piece itself is not the girl, but the girl IN OPPOSITION TO THE BULL; i.e. the art piece is now BOTH sculptures together, effectively changing the meaning of the original. The art piece would make no sense standing alone in the middle of the smithsonian.

To bring it back to your analogy, it would be like having a statue of david alone vs puting up in front of it a statue of a nymph pointing to david’s genitals (with the facial expression of your chosing)… not quite what was inicially intended with david’s statue, yet the nymph statue is not “touching” david.
Or if youd prefer, the monalisa being put right next to a painting of steve-o doing what he normally does, making sure to align her gaze to his junk.

And that concludes today’s art class; thank you all for your time.
