Colorado is providing weapons to teachers. Cenk Uygur, Hannah Cranston, as well as Brett Erlich, the hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us exactly what you think in the comment area below.

" Educators are being educated to lug weapons in classrooms in Colorado in order to shield kids as component of a scheme encouraged by an institution bloodbath in 2012.

The three-day training course, which consists of guns as well as medical training, was launched on Tuesday in Weld County.

Seventeen members of team that "want to be considered armed first -responders" have actually up until now taken part.

The pilot program will certainly permit volunteers to go into institutions with weapons under United States "hid carry" legislations.

Educators were required to a shooting range in Weld County, near Denver, where they were checked on their abilities with weapons.

The course, supplied by the Professors Administrator Safety and security Training as well as Emergency Reaction team (Faster), was established by parents, law enforcement officers and medical professionals who think that US colleges are a "soft target" for violence. The team describes schools as "victim areas".".

Seems like a kind of sexist comment. I mean, I imagine that you can’t stand a cute woman talking about political issues because, you know, cute girls are not “designed” to talk about that? Yeah, she’s cute and she also has a high-pitched voice. But who cares? I think it’s very stupid to see someone in a video and stop watching it just because you don’t think she “fits” there. Listen to what she has to say and tell us why you think she doesn’t know what she’s talking about well enough to be on this show. Otherwise, your comment is useless.

      1. there is no sexism about it, she is an idiot that makes kellyanne conway seem like steven hawking and has proven it again and again
      2. if you think she’s cute, you need your eyes checked
      3. women can have opinions, they just can’t be hannah level stupid

    • Posted by Yan Brassard, at Reply

      1. It’s the first time I see her on the show, I personally don’t see anything wrong about what’s she’s saying in this specific video. I saw that comment, the guy doesn’t specify why he doesn’t like her so I assume that’s because she looks girly and she doesn’t seem to fit in this show. I can be wrong
      2. I don’t even mind if she’s cute or not, it’s a subjective attribute anyway. My point was to say that we can’t say if she is qualified to be on this show based on her look.
      3. Of course, women can have opinions. For the rest of your sentence, I don’t know how stupid she can be, I personally agree when she says that a 3 days training doesn’t seem to be enough for a teacher to defend its students in case of shooting… she doesn’t seem to be so stupid based on what I saw in that specific video.

I am a 33-year-old female who dislikes Hannah as well and has a hard time watching segments which she is presenting. It’s *not* because of her looks, I think she’s very pretty actually… And it’s *not* because of sexism, I do like all the other female hosts and commentators on TYT, it’s that Hannah specifically seems ditzy and less than educated on many topics. Plus for me it’s just too annoying to hear her say “uhh”, “uhm”, “like”, and “now…” So don’t call everyone who has a hard time watching her a sexist.

    • Posted by Yan Brassard, at Reply

Alright, I misunderstood Patrick’s comment and I imputed him baseless intentions. I’m sorry for that. I know TYT quite well and it was the first time I saw her. Based on the quality of their show, I didn’t imagine they could hire an incompetent person. He didn’t specify why he didn’t like her and I made a wrong assumption. I might be too much on the offensive in the comment section… lol

    • Posted by Hentie Dj, at Reply

Akashic Annunaki its slowly happening to whites. the more they keep deflecting the fact that it is a race problem and try to make it seem like it’s not real the more it’s going to slowly make its way to their race and become everyone’s problem. as we have seen over the years they get shot and abused yes less than us but slowly are getting more and more. it will become equal but by then the damage of racist crap will be done and we will still be divided as people. it’s pretty much a giant chess game for the corporations to keep us fighting each other and not them. but I’m sure people want to still deny it even though it’s black and white. and we all bleed red.

And when there is an accident they will just blame poor training and blame the individual rather than the GUNS.

    • Posted by Joe Scirrotto, at Reply

Ochser you’re right, I can’t compare the US to Europe. you know why? because Europe doesn’t have a neighbor that spits on any semblance of law and can smuggle enough weapons to arm a small militia. if you ban guns from stores all that’s going to happen is anyone looking to kill someone will just use something else and still do the job, anyone else will get them from the black market anyway, only difference is instead of the money going to American businesses and having the ability to actually background check them, it will have no chance of regulation and all money will go to the cartels

    • Posted by One White Loving Nigga, at Reply

PaddyCollector How can you blame a non-living object? The individuals who used the weapon are responsible obviously. Keeping some guns at school would help.

    • Posted by Ochser, at Reply

+Joe Scirrotto So it’s all Mexico why you guys have 3-50x the gun death rate of Western European countries? Really? Nothing to do with low economic opportunites, low education or anything like that?

You said that banning guns doesn’t work, pointed to France, I told you that literally all of Europe has much less gun deaths and now they’re not comparable. What the hell.
Also, I’d make a wild guess that most weapons that were used to kill people in the US are registered weapons and don’t come from Mexico.
You guys have one of the highest rate of firearm ownership and still can’t get a grip on mass shootings? That’s a sign that your system is not working out so well.

Lastly, what are they going to use instead of the gun, huh? A knife? And now you tell me what you’d prefer: Having someone trying to rob you with a knife or a gun.

    • Posted by Joe Scirrotto, at Reply

Ochser you ignored my argument, I admited we need more background checks in our system, but I also said that banning guns here would do nothing because of Mexico. we’ve established that there are still deaths in France from guns even after they were banned, so now imagine how many there would be with Mexican cartels shipping them illegally, they still get guns either way. we can’t get a grip on mass shootings because, as it turns out, just putting a “gun-free zone” sign doesn’t stop criminals, and neither will laws banning guns. to answer your question about I would rather have a gun myself to defend myself regardless of what the other guy has. giving everyone guns does nothing, and neither does banning them entirely. we need middle ground, with improved background checks and training, while at the same time allowing people like teachers to have a gun locked in the classroom in case of emergencies

In Alcatraz, supposedly the most secure prison in the world some inmates managed to break into the vault where guards store guns and they tried to escape and failed but killed several guards before they were stopped. But there is no way a kid in school would ever be able to get his hands on the guns. I am sure they will be kept locked up and if a teacher has a gun on him there is no chance that a student or small group of them could jump him taking him by surprise and take his gun. Something like that would never happen.

    • Posted by Keith Durant, at Reply

Well I think that if you can buy weapons unofficially then you should start by putting the manufacturers of those weapons in jail. They would soon learn to control their distribution network so that it only sold to people who were sane.

    • Posted by Keith Durant, at Reply

+Me Teltrappin I recant my my previous statement. You start by making sure that everyone knows that the gun they own is registered and that if it is used in a crime they will be the primary suspect. You also tag munitions by lot with chemical identifiers that can be traced down the distribution chain to the purchaser who has to provide identification before receipt of goods. If anyone in the chain of evidence breaks that chain and circumvents the law you make them culpable. I mean the US already monitors your tweets and makes you culpable for what you say.

Did they say the training will only be 3 days??? REALLY 3 DAYS and you can officially hold a gun. Can someone tell me the one incident that arming people actually stop an incident/attack. Even a soldier can get panic attack in the battlefield, and you hoping a teacher with 3 days of training to have the right mental state and judgement in the worst case scenario.

    • Posted by izovire, at Reply

    • Posted by Skeptic Psychologist, at Reply

Farhan Ihram, in military hostage and interrogation training you learn that everyone has a stress limit and a breaking point. Guarranteed if you put guns in the hands of some of those highly trained very disciplined people undergoing psychological torture, there would be a much much higher incidence of dead military trainers.

    • Posted by Farhan Ihram, at Reply

Skeptic Psychologist What’s your point in that comment in the context of this topic?

    • Posted by Skeptic Psychologist, at Reply

Farhan Ihram, the point is that teachers are just as (if not more) vulnerable to breaking under stress as military personnel. Even if soldiers have far more than three days of training in the appropriate, safe and accurate use of firearms, and in managing extreme levels of stress, they will still break under sufficient relentless stress. There will be teachers who cannot manage the stress of teaching, and put a gun in their hands with any amount of training, and some will be driven to violence using that gun they’ve been given.

    • Posted by Martin Kortner, at Reply

I really doubt that someone who goes to shoot up a school is going to care whether it’s gun free or not, but they will find it easier to obtain one inside the school if it is not gun free. How easily they can get their hands on one outside depends on the state and the neighboring states.
