Telemarketers as well as debt collection agencies are fighting for approval to use innovation that will permit them to leave ringless voicemail messages. Ana Kasparian, Kim Horcher as well as Brett Erlich, the hosts of The Young Turks, simplify. Tell us exactly what you believe in the remark area listed below.

Find out more right here:

" Frank Kemp was servicing his computer when his mobile phone blurt the noise of Mario– from Super Mario Bros.– accumulating a coin. That indicated he had a new voicemail message, yet his phone had actually never ever called.

" At first, I thought I was insane," claimed Kemp, a video clip editor in Dover, Delaware. "When I examined my voicemail, it made me actually angry. It was essentially an outbound telemarketing voicemail to aim to offer telemarketing systems."

Kemp had simply experienced a modern technology obtaining grip called ringless voicemail, the current attempt by telemarketers and financial debt enthusiasts to reach the masses. The phone calls are silently transferred via a back door, directly right into a voicemail box– to the shock and also (most likely) inflammation of the recipient, who can not do anything to obstruct them.

Regulators are taking into consideration whether to ban these messages. They have actually been hearing from ringless-voicemail companies as well as pro-business teams, which argue that these messages should not qualify as phone calls and, for that reason, should be excused from consumer-protection regulations that ban similar kinds of telephone advertising." *.

What I love about TYT is that they spend a lot of time putting a light on real world issues that effect most people. A lot of the sites on here spend their time fighting wind mills.

Jeri, you are far too beautiful to be intelligent, so it’s understandable that you’re a fan of TYT.

  7. Posted by Kuro Otome, at Reply

I hope it doesn’t happen! I get calls from telemarketers and debt collectors asking for random people who I don’t even know! Usually they’ll call again within 2 weeks asking for the same damn person

    • Posted by IAM, at Reply

Kuro Otome. It’s a rotary robo-call! The system fishes phone numbers 24/7, and whenever they get a “bite”, any operator out of who knows how many will answer and start from the same sheet of instructions to collect from you. It’s pointless to take names, etc! 🤔

I’ve been told someone’s debt can be sold 5 or 6 times!

    • Posted by IamDennis .Ok, at Reply

MrBibi86 For penny’s on the dollar, the debt is devalued every time it’s sold. Ive only sold a debt once and was supplemented by insurance, I had little choice, dude fell off the face of the earth. You really don’t get much. For people like me it’s a last resort (As it should be) For banks who deal in thousands to millions of accounts it’s a different ball game. For them they may see it as more profitable in the long game to send a message.

Not an inconvenience? They will fill your voicemail and when something important comes up nobody can leave a message. Marketers are suggesting they have an implied right to call you. Ridiculous.

    • Posted by Travis Bartley, at Reply

Radwulf Eboraci they do have a right to contact you. and you have the right to ignore the call.

    • Posted by torchandhammer, at Reply

Ringless voicemail from debt collectors is the real danger, not telemarketers, as it will serve as legal notification before late/non-payment fees kick in. As in: “We notified the debtor that a payment was due via a means we assume wouldn’t actually make them aware, so we are jacking up the interest and adding substantial fees to the already huge mountain of debt.”

It’s not a nuisance issue, but a economic fraud the debt collectors (who already have a reputation for unscrupulous business practices) to maximize their profit.

    • Posted by Cy B, at Reply

Sean F, So what if they add extra fees, if you can’t pay the original bill what makes them think they’re going to get more?

  16. Posted by Thatsabigbear, at Reply
