Gov. Greg Abbott does not like reporters because his policies are indefensible. Ana Kasparian, Ben Mankiewicz, Mark Thompson, and also Sue-Ann Robinson, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us exactly what you assume in the comment area listed below.

" Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday saw a shooting variety to authorize an expense right into law that significantly lowers the price to get a license to carry a hand gun, making Texas one of the states with the most affordable charge in the country.

" The right to bear arms is something that is synonymous with the state of Texas. We are honored to expand the right to bear arms by decreasing the cost of exactly what you have to pay to get a permit to bring," Abbott stated. "Texans' ability to bear arms is mosting likely to be also bolder today compared to it's ever before been in the past."

The regulation, Us senate Expense 16, lowers the newbie cost for a certificate to lug from $140 to $40 as well as the renewal charge from $70 to $40. A permit to bring license stands in Texas for 5 years. The new fee will enter into impact on Sept. 1.

Donald J. Trump Im a tyt fan and im ashamed of them for it. They dont understand the contributions to protecting the environment that big game hunters do and it was wrong of them to laugh at that mans death.

    • Posted by Dead-Owl 911, at Reply

+Dustin Sawyer Your thinking of poachers, Big game hunters have a vested interest in keeping a safe environment for the animals so they can continue to hunt them. To do this they were the original founders of many of the nature preserves and national parks that we enjoy today. But what do I know, im just a person who thought like you did, did some research, Had compassion for my fellow human being despite having some reservations about their job choice, and changed my opinion instead of shouting ableist slurs at people I dissagree with on the internet.

    • Posted by Xavier Stewart, at Reply

Dead-Owl 911 – I think most will say the notion of “Keeping a safe environment for the animals so they can continue to hunt them.” Is kinda the same as “I’ll keep you alive and kill you and your family when I feel like it.” I don’t like the idea of shooting large animals, its sad that a man died in doing so but it was his wish to do so, so him dying with the animal that crushed him is just ironic.

    • Posted by Dead-Owl 911, at Reply

+Xavier Stewart obviously, I feel the same way to a degree but taking joy in the mans death is a bridge too far. That being said he was a cheetah Hunter, and accidentally came across the elephant breeding ground, if he went looking for elephants and this happened id be right there with you .

    • Posted by Robscott5598, at Reply

You misunderstand. He does this on every TYT video and never responds. And has been doing so for a rather long period of time. He claims to be from Ireland, from Afghanistan, from Turkey, from England, from Montana, from wherever fits his false narrative regarding the specific video and then moves on to lie on the next one. That is a textbook definition of an internet troll.

    • Posted by L B, at Reply

Jacob Hansen You’re not honest with yourself. Trump spent his entire campaign on a vendetta against the press (The Times since the early 90s) and anyone who opposed him during his campaign. He sued Bill Maher for $5 million dollars over a joke. What are the rest of us supposed to think about TRump??? That he’s the victim in all of this???? Get real!

Republicans have too much control over the process. They spread elections out over so many ballots over the ye to suppress the vote on a lot of local issues. They don’t advertise when the multitude of votes are and they make it confusing where you go to vote by signing people up to vote be able to vote in multiple locations on some issues but only on one place (that may not be the place they’re used to going to) on major elections. Republican leaders are very dishonest and republican voters are very dense, vindictive, and somehow think they’ll get a piece of the elite pie.

    • Posted by philomelodia, at Reply

Rick Jackson and, just like everywhere else in the country, they have gerrymandered the place all to hell. The state has districts that are so spread out in some areas to make sure to capture the rural vote so that it makes sure that the Republicans stay in power. Take Austin, liberal city. Everybody knows it. But it’s all carved up so that it’s got several districts in it that bring in voters from out in the sticks that will always vote Republican. Hopefully, a lot of the predictions that are being said that the state is going to flip either in 2018 or 2020 will come true. We could really use some new blood down here. Might do something about all the terrible school districts in the state.

    • Posted by sirpurrcival, at Reply

I wonder how this person would feel if the same comment was altered and the word reporters was replaced with the word “politicians”.

    • Posted by cheekyboy5000, at Reply

You’re not an elected official of the government.

    • Posted by sirpurrcival, at Reply

And? You probably aren’t a reporter either. What difference does it make? Appropriate behaviour is the subject at hand and given the kinds of rhetoric that have been thrown around over the last few months, I can well appreciate why some reporters might be a bit touchy about the suggestion. Past experience has shown that politicians don’t generally take it too well when others start making off the cuff remarks that might involve their general well being. It was a joke, I get it but why any one would feign surprise that some might not find it so amusing is nothing more than willful blindness. It was dumb joke and he is getting some heat for it. Just like all comedians get some heat for material that doesn’t play well.

  16. Posted by SailaSobriquet, at Reply

It’s interesting that so many folks are dismissing this as a joke. OK, maybe it was a joke. But what would happen if someone “joked” about shooting him? He would hide behind all of the law enforcement assigned to protect him while they “take the threat very seriously.” Such a “joke” is not really an apples-to-apples scenario, so to speak. He gets to mouth off while hiding behind all of the power of law enforcement in Texas. Such behavior is cowardly, and demonstrates a particular lack of virtue that is held in great contempt in Texas. Furthermore, it shows extremely poor judgement on his part. For an elected official, who has been entrusted with upholding the law, and serving the people, ALL THE PEOPLE, to say something like that, demonstrates a state of mind and a lack reasoning ability that should raise a red flag in the mind of the people who entrusted him with the office. It shows arrogance, contempt for ethics, and contempt for the law. He seems to think that ethics and the law do not apply to him. It also makes him an amazingly poor role model for the people.

“Power can be very addictive. And it can be corrosive. And it’s important for the media to call to account people who abuse their
    power.” George W. Bush

“If you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free and many times adversarial press. And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time. That’s how dictators get started. They get started by suppressing free press.”” John McCain

“The liberty of the press is essential to the security of freedom in a state”” John Adams

“Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press, nor that be limited without danger of losing it.” Thomas Jefferson

Lucius Domitius Aurelianus – Whereas such a thing would not be surprising to me, I rather doubt they have done so in front of a bunch of reporters, as he did. Private joking among friends and acquaintances is one thing; public joking in front of reporters is another. The fact that Abbot is unable to make such a simple distinction does not speak well of him as an elected official, entrusted by the people with the affairs of state and the rights of the people, and it does not speak well of his judgement.
