Be very suspicious when somebody starts discussing US power freedom. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us just what you think in the comment section below.

" Power independence is, evidently, no longer sufficient for the U.S. Introducing President Donald Trump before the finalizing of an executive order aimed at rolling back some of President Barack Obama's ecological steps, Power Secretary Rick Perry stated:

I do not desire The U.S.A. simply to be power independent. I desire America to be power leading. It isn't totally clear just what being "energy leading" ways. Some countries have held effective settings in international energy markets at numerous times, including the United States Nevertheless, America's competitive advantage is only partly concerning access to power materials; just how it has actually utilized them to construct a diversified economic climate matters far more. Just take a look at the economy of another power behemoth, Russia.

Energy self-reliance has an extra established area in UNITED STATE political discourse. Certainly, on the campaign route in 2015, Harold Hamm, Chief Executive Officer of oil manufacturer Continental Resources Inc., declared Head of state Trump would certainly become the first head of state to accomplish American energy freedom." *.

Borderline communism? Nationalising oil is the right thing to do!! Like Norway!

    • Posted by Rafael Ramirez, at Reply

Kaloyan Stoyanov I agree In the 1930s Mexico nationalized oil. To keep greedy American capitalists companies from monopolizing it.(Rockefellers) Recently the current President of Mexico Pena-Neito overturned it. already the price has gone up.

“Energy independence” ought to mean sustainable energy – solar (passive and active), wind, hydro, geothermal.

    • Posted by Michael Robertson, at Reply

too expensive though and you will see all your industries move overseas somewhere cheap

    • Posted by Pedophile, at Reply

Michael Robertson Because Germany has no industries left…..

    • Posted by klondike444, at Reply

+Pedophile Germany isn’t running on renewables, and the price of electricity there is very high.

    • Posted by Pedophile, at Reply

      “Germany isn’t running on renewables”

Doesn’t matter what the price is. The commenter before me said renewable energy would lead industries to go away which is fake news.

  14. Posted by Travis Rogers, at Reply

I reduced my personal dependence on fossil fuels by over 80%. I now own an electric vehicle, I’ve installed solar panels on my home with a battery bank and installed energy efficient and solar powered appliances. It was an investment in my future and my home but the savings I get from energy cost reductions pay for the investment and the savings will completely pay for itself in 7 years.

WE ALL CAN GET OFF FOSSIL FUELS… We just have to want to and follow through by making an investment in your future and the future environment.

  15. Posted by Gouky, at Reply

But you don’t depend on other Retards like Saudi Arabia … TYT are retards

  16. Posted by julian brown, at Reply

It’s ironic because Solar and renewable energy give us actual energy independence.

    • Posted by Nizzle FoShizzle, at Reply

Solar requires massive investment and real estate for minimal output. The hippies are now whining about dams, and windmills hitting beloved eagles.  Renewable sources give us less than 5 percent of our energy, hardly a number that would qualify those sources as “independence-granting”.

    • Posted by klondike444, at Reply

+Pedophile You also need to do more research. The price of solar panels is not what counts.

  17. Posted by Greg Camp, at Reply

Thus an advantage of renewable energy–generated here in plants built here by American workers and used here.

Keystone shipping tarsand oil going to Texas is all being sent to Asia. Trump said it’s for US oil Inpedendence. A LIE!

  19. Posted by Nizzle FoShizzle, at Reply

Lies. It makes it a lot more politically and economically advantageous to have the oil come out of YOUR ground, no matter who does the extraction. Why do you think the Gulf region is chock full of Ferraris and Lambos? Especially when oil is virtually their only export?
