Why do you keep bashing guns TYT when most guns aren’t blowing themselves up for their beliefs? This is hugely gunphobic, guns are the real victims here!

Funny how no one mentions the 17 billion dollar tank deal saudi Arabia made with canada

    • Posted by Umar Hussein, at Reply

paul babuik Canada doesn’t manufacturer tanks. You probably mean LAV 6.0 platform by General Dynamics Canada.

    • Posted by paul babuik, at Reply

      Yeah for the leapord

  9. Posted by BaronVonSynn, at Reply

Why cover this when U.S. is 10 times worse? It doesnt make sense. You just said its 10% of what we sell to Saudi Arabia… so why again?

    • Posted by sevret313, at Reply

Norway’s own statistics bureau disagrees and put Norway at 10th place in 2015. Which is lower than previous years. And they quote UN’s Cometrade database.

And even by the statistics you’re using from SIPRI, it puts Norway higher than US in arms export per capita.

    • Posted by BlackLabelSlushie, at Reply

The US is a massive and often shady arms exporter. No doubt about it. And every European is frequently told this since their teens.
BUT if you study arms trafficking reports – and I did quite a bit – one sees that Europeans are quite deliberately under-informed about the scale of their own arms exports. The narrative is ALWAYS focused on the big bad US. But there is a lot of slanted info.

Example: Almost every European from Sweden to Greece is told and will repeat that “the US armed Saddam Hussein.” In fact, US and UK arms exports to the Saddam regime amounted to 2% of Saddams arms purchases. EU nations sold 16x – yes sixteen times – more weapons to Saddam. This includes France, Poland, Czech and others. France had MASSIVE weapons contracts with Saddam. According to the Swedish Institute for Peace studies, at it’s top year, fully 50% of ALL French arms exports went to Iraq. Probably not 1 in 50 Frenchmen know that figure. But EVERY Frenchman can and will babble on about “US armed Saddam.”

      It’s complex.

    • Posted by Blackmark52, at Reply

+BlackLabelSlushie I don’t think the major argument is about the US arming Hussein as much as putting him in power and supporting his dictatorship. But in regards to arms sales a quick search turns up this statement : United States support for Ba’athist Iraq … included several billion dollars’ worth of economic aid … (and) *non-U.S. origin weaponry* (emphasis mine). So if the U.S. bought the weapons from European allies and delivered them to Hussein who could afford them because of economic aid from the U.S., who exactly is arming Hussein? And don’t you think that skews your statistics a tad?

    • Posted by Blackmark52, at Reply

+sevret313 I still have a hard time understanding the relevance you attach to “arms export per capita.” Are you suggesting that if a country buys a million dollars worth of arms from Norway that is somehow equivalent to buying 60 times that amount from U.S.? Or are you suggesting that buying the same amount of arms from the U.S. just doesn’t count as much because the U.S. is so much bigger? Seems to me one gun is one gun no matter who you buy it from.

  10. Posted by TheIceyeddy, at Reply

In a perfect world there would be no weapons at all.

    • Posted by Mathieu Leduc Gosselin, at Reply

no but your baseball bat or knives could hardly kill me at 400 ft! So like the guy said, we shouldn’t produce tools that are only intented to kill until we learn that there are aliens coming to us and maybe not even then!:)

    • Posted by Anzac-A1, at Reply

Except that history has proven time and again that humans are far from being able to all get along. Honestly, weapons will always exist. However, proper laws and enforcement can people who shouldn’t have weapons from getting them. Switzerland has the highest gun ownership in the world, yet they don’t have the highest murder rate.

And like the other guy said, almost anything can be used as a weapon, but not everything is designed to be. You forget that knives have always been weapons, and a bat is just a glorified club.

    • Posted by Jason Renfro, at Reply

+Mathieu Leduc Gosselin once it clicks in your brain that we are in charge of our behavior. Yes we make the best, yeah THE BEST killing machines and equipment on Earth but we don’t go out using it for funzies. We use them to kill the guys who are going out to kill us or our friends sometimes. These aren’t just designed to kill people they are designed to protect others from the baddy bads. Plenty of people have use non wepons to kill people, and it will never end, stop trying to find a way to control people’s behaviors it’s never gonna happen.

Where do u think Sweden makes its money? in PEACE? pfhpfh funny

    • Posted by winmax, at Reply

You don’t know anything about Sweden’s export then you say “Sweden may not be BIG SELLER but they STILL get their weapons on to
Terrorist hands. NO WESTERN COUNTRY is exempted from this SIMPLE
      FACT!!!!”

I just said where we export and what we export, try research stuff instead of making things up. Link one instance where weapons out of Sweden have been used by terrorists.

I don’t care about defending arms dealing that my country does, but such claims need some evidence and backing.

While other sources use other ways to measure weapon exports which place Norway higher.

    • Posted by janglestick, at Reply

+sevret313 what the hell are you talking about? Name ONE other source? This guy just gave his source and also gave two lists with different criteria. Or how about you name one of these other ways to “measure weapon exports”. Or how about a weapon or ammunition that they export?

Top 5 of 6 largest exporters of arms are USA, Russia, China, France, and UK. Ironically all permanent members of UN security council. Some years the UK and Germany switch places so the top 5 ARE the permanent members.

did i just reduce your views? Stop sacrificing your content to make entertainment if that reduces it’s accessibility & ability to be referenced. If information is relevant to educating people about the world, that should be presented as an open, usable statistic or report of an event. But if it’s BURIED a couple minutes into a video, we are forced to waste time by watching, due to the linear nature of video … that is stupid. That is sacrificing some of the aspect of your hard work and information that could help the world. Unnecessarily.

      FORCED to watch it

    • Posted by janglestick, at Reply

well kinda. We do need some editorials, some commentary, some summaries and review of the general state of things. I don’t know where else to get such things. Amy Goodman at DemocracyNow! has her hands full already. So … yes, even though I don’t always agree with them (not an issue) and think they bury or mislead with their ‘edutainment’ (a bigger issue), yes, I feel kinda forced to watch TYT.

    • Posted by janglestick, at Reply

btw it is generally considered progress to address things in a straight forward manner, I don’t mind coming back to clarify things, a couple times, in the face of your facile, indirect and inaccurate comment, but if you want to do better, try risking actually stating your point rather than hiding behind a sarcastic statement which clearly shows you are ignoring the content of the message and having a knee-jerk reaction to one part of it, taken out of context. Did you ever watch television, did you ever see Fox News announce some real or ‘imagined’ threat, and then say “we will tell you all about it AFTER THE COMMERCIAL” … ? Do you want TYT to go this way? Try doing your best to understand what is actually being said and then move things forward, rather than just satisfying your need to undermine blindly.
