Glenn Grothman arbitrarily articulates the word "racist," "rashist." He does not have a speech obstacle, he's simply chosen to claim it odd. Grothman also believes kids nowadays just squander Pell Give money on fancy electronic doohickies. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, go over. Inform us what you believe in the comment area below.

" Federal financial support for low-income undergraduate students– through Pell Grants– stays alive as various other grants are killed in President Donald Trump's spending plan proposal for 2018.

The spending plan proposal, released Thursday, maintains the Pell Grant program, but lowers funds for it by $3.9 billion.

The program has actually been around because 1972, as well as the Trump management claims reducing its funding "safeguards" its survival for the next decade.

While pretty much every person has university financings, gives are a massive variable for undergraduate university student in the United States. The Pell Give program is the biggest federal grant program, inning accordance with the National Facility for Education and learning Statistics.

The program sends out up to $5,920 to pupils in families that gain much less compared to $40,000 a year, prioritized for families making closer to $20,000 or less. A vital distinction between a Pell give as well as a lending is that trainees do not have to repay the gives." *.

*Rumor has it that trump supporters have a lower IQ then people with Down syndrome*

    • Posted by SgtSixkilla, at Reply

+JoshCube2 What makes you think anyone here supports Hitlary? Pretty certain people who follow TYT hates Hitlary nearly as much as we hate Drumph.

SgtSixkilla that is a great rap name. An you are correct. I dislike but not hate, her. But I know the Moscow in Chief was bad news away.

Given the choice of a conversation with a down syndrome person or a trump supporter I’d take the down syndrome person any day… Why? Because they are happy people who actually care about other people. You tell a down syndrome person about something bad happening to someone and they feel horrible! Tell a Trump supporter the same thing and they cheer over someones misfortune.

Passing an IQ test is not a requirement to become an US representative…unfortunately.

    • Posted by Omair Sheikh, at Reply

Neither is it for becoming president

    • Posted by Laura Cullen, at Reply

Adalberto you are correct. What is required to run for political office is FAILURE TO PASS an IQ test. Now doesn’t that make it easier to understand why those politicians act as they do? Brainless, and that preceeded zombies for a very long time.

These cuts in education are political strategy. The less educated the people, the more shadiness the establishment can get away with.

Malphisto Cichol Nice comment very well written. I agree with the intellectuals adopting a Liberal or Centrist stance if you are referring to Classical Liberalism not this weird definition of “Liberal” we have/use today. Studies have shown that Classical Liberals do have a higher IQ then Republicans or Democrats.
As far as Republicans being self centered I have seen studies that would argue that point and would even go on to say that they are more charitable then “Liberals” or Democrats. Another case and point (possibly) would be many are Christian and donate to the church which in turns helps fund food banks, community dinners, soup kitchens, clothing drives and so in and so forth. Now that’s not to say all are charitable.
I am neither Republican nor Democrat I would consider myself a Classical Liberal. Just another point of view. As far as the name calling, silly made up words and the screw you “I get mine” attitude that is on both sides. Nice comment.

This guy is my representative– again I’m sorry. He’s a single/childless/never married guy who lives with his mother. He doesn’t get it. His campaign did business with the company I worked at in 2014 and I had to deal with him and his minions. I get what he’s saying… And I even had his limited views on the world when I was in college from a 2 parent middle class home taking out loans. My thoughts were particularly w/ people who got grants in my own major were “Well if we all graduate with the same degree why are you not as able to pay back a loan as me?” But it’s a very complex situation. I live in this guys district and the issue does happen- but not as common as he thinks- more so in a joking manner. A friend of mine started out college and her Mom was single– then the summer between sophomore and junior year her Mom remarried and she lost access to a lot of her grants. She ripped on her Mom and Step Dad for the wedding say “thanks for screwing me over guys… I can see your happiness and love is more important than my education!” and we all laughed- but it was a joke. I don’t really know anyone who would make life style choice/sacrifices etc based on getting a grant for college.

*”When will people get off the Govt back. If you can’t go to college with out a welfare pell grant, you probably can’t pass the course anyway. “*

What does one have to do with the other? Being intelligent has nothing to do with the amount of money your family or has.

Look at Trump a complete idiot who could not pass a science class if the teacher gave him the answer sheet.

*”Next you’ll want free lunch and gym class”*

Gym class by the way has been known to increase happiness and therefore students attention span is greatly improved. As far as free lunch goes, how many poor people who are getting grants are on picket lines asking for a free lunch? None. they are all in the library worried about if they do not pass their classes they may lose their tuition assistance.

Republican logic- We need more F-35 Jets so lets take away pell grants so less people can go to college. Lets also cut after school programs so we can get another aircraft carrier and nuclear submarine.

    • Posted by Kaira Reality, at Reply

+Gage Acosta But I didn’t say anything about Iran now did I. When it comes to Republicans and Democrats in America it mainly has to do with what they think is important for this country to achieve and maintain. Whether that’s some form of health care, government involvement, laws, ect. So yes, it does have to do with thier view points.

    • Posted by Eric Conway, at Reply

The like to think of themselves as upper class. Either that or they are just voting for the ability to take away someones rights, like a pregnant woman, because invisible sky creature said so. Think of it this way, who would constantly visit a website that they proclaim to hate, clicking it over and over when the internet is monetized based on clicks? Really dumb people.

He’s my rep too and he’s a joke. He lives with his mother and is single/never married/no kids. He doesn’t understand “the real world.” When I call his office about issues and bring up how his stance wouldn’t work in a larger city based on ABC– his office is like “what where is this happening?” Face palm. Like every larger city in America dummy!

At some point, millennials are going to be expected to shoulder most of the economy, and all their money that could be going into buying houses and starting businesses and spending on cars will be going to student loan debt. Republicans are either knowing oppressors or unknowing morons.

    • Posted by samiamrg7, at Reply

ikr? And all these social programs that Republicans hate generally help red states the most.

    • Posted by KpitGangsta, at Reply

sullyFL …Realistically, that is happening right now. It started when wages remained stagnant for the last 20+ years and is not competitive with continually rising inflation and or cost of living. They know what the problem is, the ones in power, and are doing everything they can to make you hate those solutions too. Upward mobility is the number one threat they’re supressing and sadly, many are regurgitating those same corporate think tank ideas with no further investigation. We the working class have growing debts, cost of living, longer working hours with growing workloads and so much else to worry about that most of the baseline issues get lost in the quagmire of our collective struggle.

If it weren’t for the Pell Grant, I seriously would NOT have went to college. That means that I would not be in law school currently. Smh….

    • Posted by K L, at Reply

Same here. If it weren’t for Pell Grants I wouldn’t have went to college. Simple as that. I always assumed I couldn’t afford it, UNTIL I heard about Pell Grants. It was directly responsible for me looking into college as an option. I wouldn’t be almost finished with my bachelors in medical science. I wouldn’t have met my husband who just finished his doctorate and has a wonderful job at the VA. I bet my life would be much different.
