" President Donald Trump's initial spending plan outline, asking for a security-heavy re-alignment of government investing, drew fast resistance from the United States Congress, with specifically strong criticism of recommended deep cuts to diplomatic as well as international help programs.

Trump's strategy, sent to Congress on Thursday as well as showcasing his administration's economic concerns, is just the first volley in just what will likely be an intense battle over spending in coming months. Although Trump's fellow Republicans control both the Senate and also House of Representatives, Congress holds the government bag strings and seldom approves head of states' spending plan plans.

Republicans applauded Trump's require a 10 percent boost in military spending next year in a budget that would certainly additionally finance construction of a wall on the boundary with Mexico and supply more resources for deporting illegal aliens.

However even some traditional Republicans who typically defend smaller federal government classified as misguided the Trump management's ask for a 28 percent, or $10.9 billion, reduced in State Department funding and other worldwide programs.

Safeguarding national rate of interests requires a detailed technique, "including not just army involvement however also the complete and accountable use of all diplomatic devices at our disposal," said Republican Agent Hal Rogers, that chairs a panel that manages State Division as well as foreign help spending.

The hope is that Trump will not be there in long term. Jimmy Dore was betting that Trump will not be there in 4 years, while Hillary as far as we know, if she were president, will be democratic nominee at least on 2020, so four years from now, we either still have her or have a republican president. Remember, our previous decades of unfair policies created president Trump. As long as we do not correct the underlying problems, we will have another one like Trump, or like Bernie Sanders, hopefully we will elect a person like Bernie in very short near future to really correct the problems, not like Trump, to destroy it

CommanderM117 you are actually not smart at all. Let’s not get too deep into facts, physics or simple logic. If fish can cook on cooler fresh water they will defenitely cook even faster on even hotter salt water. That’s per your logic.

If you plan on reducing war, why increase military spending?
If you are going to built a wall, why do you need to increase border agents? Do they need to hold the wall up so it does not fall down?

you wear a big coat to stay warm dont you? im sure this analogy is over you’re head.

    • Posted by Nicholas Deckard, at Reply

Ryan Rose the Chinese built that wall during a time when airplanes (the primary mode of transportation for undocumented immigrants) didn’t exist

    • Posted by Ryan Rose, at Reply

yes planes didnt exist. But a wall still needs to be guarded to be effective. Personally, I think its a waste. But our border does need to be defended in some way

    • Posted by Eric Price, at Reply

A wall is absolutely impossible. Look at a topo map, drainage would cost more than the actual wall and cause an exponential list of future problems.

    • Posted by Ryan Rose, at Reply

a wall would be a waste. But the border needs to be guarded and defended. A series of Sensers, drons and patrols would be more effective, it comes down to manpower and the will. And, most illegals do come in legally and overstay and that needs to be dealt with too
another thing the left loves to say is that they do work that many others dont want to do. But thats because they are underpayed and abused, practically indentured servants, or slaves. Cut that out and force those companies to pay them living wages and then that would end.

    • Posted by Ryan Rose, at Reply

yes Obama gutted the milary. He slashed their budget by around half. He cut military personal by around half again and enacted such strict codes on the remaining military that they were almost unable to act in any way.
Expanded action worldwide? Are you high? he withdrew military forces not expanded it.

    • Posted by Eli Elsaf, at Reply

Ryan Rose Obama slashed the military budget by about half?!? Where are you getting your information?!

    • Posted by John Rivera, at Reply

Ryan Rose Before Trump took over we spent half to more than half of our buget on military we had the biggest military on the planet BY FAR, larger than the next 6+countries not even considering how much of that was complete waste Billions in misplaced or mishandled even a fraction of our military spending could cover a number of our social and education programs and we would STILL be top in military.

    • Posted by Ryan Rose, at Reply

hyperbole we never spent half of our budget on the military. But, the budget did go from around 800 billion to around 5 hundred billion.
The troops have went to around 400 000. What is there hardly works now. It needs more to work effectively because we have serious threats we must be able to face if we need to

    • Posted by Fluxquark, at Reply

Ryan Rose The US spends more on their military than the next 5 (or 10) countries *combined*. It’s literally insane. There is no country on earth that stands even a remote chance against the US. 95% of US politics and propaganda (of which there is a *lot*) revolves around keeping up the insane defense spending because the military industrial complex rules your country.

A lot of Democratic party agents preferred Hillary, but that did not mean there was no election for her to win. She did win it. IMO a lot of the issue that gets blamed at the DNC was due at least partly on Bernie´s campaign not doing some of its own homework within the party and with the electorate . A lot of the people there were passionate, but not experienced and made mistakes, and I think everything was later blamed 100% at the party establishment, so everyone in the campaign could come out with clean hands. The DNC was not perfect – DWS probably deserved the boot – but I am tired of people trying to handwave the millions of people voting for Clinton as the DNC´s fault, like every last person who voted for Clinton was a dumb, thoughtless robot who totally would have voted for Bernie if it weren´t for those meddling delegates.

    • Posted by Yuval Esroni, at Reply

The federal government shouldn’t have started wasting money in the first place. If a state wants something, let that state pay for it. Better too since they have full control over their own state rather than the feds.

    • Posted by Art Vandalay, at Reply

Warped but the idea is that as a NATION we work together! I know that’s hard to understand, But by doing so over the last 100 years we became the country we are today.

    • Posted by Art Vandalay, at Reply

Hugh Miller Exactly my point! I also love how “real Americans” hate the big city liberals, but the reality is those cities subsidize the lives of the entire country.

    • Posted by Jeff Ketcham, at Reply

Warped This is a valid argument in some ways. But the people who argue it have no problem with some federal spending like defense. They also refuse to leave marijuana legalization up to the states. It is much like the southern states arguing for states rights before the civil war. They said “states rights,” but they really meant “right to own other humans.” Today states rights means the rights to pollute, not pay for education, save billionaires tax dollars, discriminate against homosexuals, and not pay for PBS.

Before you go on knocking welfare, lets give ya a conservative example of welfare lifting a person out of poverty that you may be able to wrap your tiny brain around…Ben Carson. Read or watch a show about his life.

He’s one of countless people that have been given a chance to succeed because of welfare programs that kept people at least barely above the starvation level and kept a roof overhead while they strive to get educated and do better than what they grew up in. Welfare programs are the sole support of a huge amount of children and the only means of them being able to get out of poverty.

    • Posted by Smileyrie James, at Reply

Michel LeGrisbi The Great Wall of illusion is a massive waste of money in the first place! Have a look at your Gov figures on Mexicans entering & leaving & you’ll see that not only have hundreds of thousands been leaving, there are millions fewer Mexicans entering the US in the past few years so the Mexican border is not where most of your illegal immigrants are coming from to start with!
the number of successful illegal entries — including people making multiple attempts — between ports of entry along the entire southern border with Mexico has plummeted from 1.7 million in 2005 to 170,000 in 2015.
      http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/border-issues/2016/10/09/how-many-mexicans-actually-cross-border-illegally/91280026/
Look at all immigrants including legal ones:
In 2015, 1.38 million foreign-born individuals moved to the United States, a 2 percent increase from 1.36 million in 2014. India was the leading country of origin for recent immigrants, with 179,800 arriving in 2015, followed by 143,200 from China, 139,400 from Mexico, 47,500 from the Philippines, and 46,800 from Canada. In 2013, India and China overtook Mexico as the top origin countries for recent arrivals.

While most of these new arrivals are immigrants new to the country, some are naturalized citizens, lawful permanent residents, and others who might have lived in the United States for some time prior to returning in 2015.
In 2015, around 48 percent of immigrants (20.7 million) were naturalized U.S. citizens. The remaining 52 percent (22.6 million) included lawful permanent residents, unauthorized immigrants, and legal residents on temporary visas (such as students and temporary workers).
The majority of U.S. Hispanics are native born. Of the 56.6 million people in 2015 who self-identified as Hispanic or Latino, 35 percent (19.5 million) were immigrants.
According to Mexico’s National Survey of Occupations and Employment (Encuesta Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo, or ENOE), the emigration rate from Mexico (refers to emigrants leaving Mexico regardless of their destination, although most head to the United States) has remained steadily low in recent years, after experiencing a drop following the 2007-09 U.S. recession. From 2008 to 2012, the emigration rate dropped from 6.4 migrants per 1,000 residents to 3.3 migrants. It ticked up slightly in 2015 to 3.6 migrants per 1,000 resident

What I don’t get is why, if he wants to build up our military, he’s defunding and gagging scientists? Science created the our most powerful weapons, and science will create newer ones as well. The single best thing to do if you want to be a dominant military force is to pump as much money as you can into the sciences.

    • Posted by PlayerSkillFTW, at Reply

That’s exactly what China is doing. Take a look at their genetics program, and realize the kind of weaponry they can make when they have an average IQ of 150+ in 20-30 years.
Also, defunding science in the U.S., causes scientists to look for work elsewhere. The U.S. is going back to the Dark Ages.

    • Posted by Suroee K, at Reply

PlayerSkillFTW Wouldn’t it be just fitting if one of the lasting effects of the Trump era turns out to be the brain drain from cutting these science-based agencies, sending these people out into the world to find better jobs and countries that will actually support science.

Trump is going to have the most ironic campaign slogan in history and will likely end up presiding over the massive decline of the US as a world power.
