      None of what you said is operated by the federal government. It is not free, because those are city-wide services. You don’t provide fire protection to individuals, you provide it to an area. Roads and bridges can be privately owned under certain regimes, such as how we handle fiber optic lines.

      There is no such thing as a libertarian paradise because libertarianism isn’t a system, it’s the absence of a corrupt government.

      Government programs have made things worse, not better. We never did need government programs, nor have they ever helped the poor.

      I also don’t think you understand the point of being generous. It might be because blue states are the least generous states in terms of giving to charity and the South is the most generous. People GIVE when they have access. You have Bill Gates who has given tens of billions. You have Warren Buffett. You have all of these people who give tons of money to charity, even normal people. If the government weren’t leeching money from the people in order to spy on and perform experiments on its own people, we could do even more for one another.

      Things people decided they want? You been living under a rock? You do understand studies show there is no correlation between public opinion and government policy, right? So what’s that about what people want again?

      You don’t realize it, but this government is horribly corrupt and does not care about you. Reality check.

      yes because people would be fine without medicare, medicaid, and food stamps. obviously everyone can afford everything they need on their own.
      but would we? its nice to say that we would all take care of one another but those taxes people dont pay would probably go towards those individuals own needs. all while the government doesnt get the funds it needs for military, education, social programs, research, infrastructure, etc. yes wouldnt it be great if we were all as rich as bill gates, if not for the damn government.
      yes there are problems with government and government spending but if we can get people into power that share the ideas that the people want then things will get better. most citizens want universal healthcare, most citizens want marijuana to be legal, the only problem is we have had the same people in power for the last 30 years. the government is not inherently evil or unfixable. term limits, gerrymandering, and lobbying are the problems with government.

    Honestly, I’d give Rand the benefit of the doubt here. He’s probably calling it “Obamacare lite” because he knows his base will eat it up, but he also knows Kentucky is one of the biggest supporters of Obamacare so his likely not voting for it based on association with Obama wins both sides of the isle in his state. He wins the people who want it repealed because they’re nuts and it’s associated with Obama and he wins the people who are actually in favor of keeping the current healthcare.

      The thing is, trumpcare really is just a lighter version of Obamacare, where you have most of the same general programs, but cut out provisions and care and then reduced taxes. As for “Obamacare lite” the economic creator behind Obamacare- Johnathan Gruber literally also called this bill by that name, so the brand seems to have bipartisan support in that its not great; albeit for different reasons.

Model the health care system closer to Switzerland; mandated private health insurance, but less regulation and no state lines to foster competition.

That established the minimum wage, gave the 40 hour work week the new standard, established overtime pay, and fought against child labor.       I have never heard a poor person who wants tax cuts for the rich. Always, without exception, leftists think tax cuts only mean tax cuts for the rich. You do know poor people and middle class people can also pay less taxes? In fact, you can even make it so that they pay less taxes while the rich pay the same amount of taxes.

      Because those tax cuts for the rich are always paid for with a net increase in taxes for the middle class. I wouldn’t even mind if they cut taxes for everyone. But they can’t do that with reducing spending, which they’re never gonna do. So they just end up increasing the taxes on the middle class.
